Went into Expressly Motion to purchase new tap shoes for my son. Is hidden away, but well worth looking for. Met the owner, Maria Parsons, and we're so glad that we did. She discussed the problem we were having with our shoes and searched for a screw that would fit the problem with the shoes we brought in. We ultimately decided to purchase a new pair, so she disappeared into the back until she found the right pair. We did need to order them, and that took a few minutes, but it was time well spent. We even brought the screw home that she found for us so we could repair the old ones). This may be one of the last hands-on shops for our kids who love to dance. I called inquiring if the store carried navy blue dance shorts as my daughter needed some asap for the next day for Cheer for the first game of the season! It was towards the end of the day and I spoke with the store owner, nicest person ever, and she let me know she had some in storage... but we needed them for the next morning. Such a great variety of dance products for girls starting at 3 years old! Don't let the location fool you, the prices are very convenient and low! I bought my 3 year old several leotards, tights and ballet slippers and came out under $100! I was previously shopping at target for ballet items but they didn't have anything. Expressly Motion is my favorite dance wear store. I get one-on-one help, great advice from the owner and the older sales lady in the Redondo Beach store. One time I bought shoes that turned out to be too big, they took them back, no questions asked, And helped me find the right size. Not all manufacturers styles run the same. If they are out of something I liked, or need right now, they take my name, and my phone number, I get a call. Does Amazon do that for you? read more

Great variety, our favorite dance brands and sweet sales girl. Prices are way high. I've never spent over 30$ on bloch dance shoes for my kids. They were $53 here. On amazon the same shoe is 29-44 at most. Not sure why the mark up is so outrageous. read more

Since 2010, my girls & I have relied on Expressly Motion for most of our ballet & Cotillion needs. We go to the new, HUGE Madison location in Torrance. Sadly, it's not visible from the street. But, it has plenty of free parking. At each visit, Maria (the owner) and/or her staff members greet us warmly, remember our names & our preferences, and are quite personable and helpful. The store maintains -- among other things -- a stunning stock of black leotards in many styles and sizes. I've never seen so many options at a brick-and-mortar store: not at Alva's; not at Discount Dance; not at Activity Pointe. The staff helps us find the styles we need, in the sizes we need. They gladly make special orders, etc. Unfortunately, Expressly Motion doesn't sell pointe shoes. For girls who are in Cotillion (or are Disney tour guides, or are on their feet for many hours each day), Expressly Motion has gorgeous, fancy, COMFORTABLE shoes. My boyfriend and I are taking a beginning tap dancing class for the summer, so of course we need tap dancing shoes. I found this place on Yelp and called to confirm they sold adult tap shoes. It's a bit hard to find, but once you walk in it's very cool. They sell different style dance shoes, leotards, hair ties and anything else dance related. The owner was helping a mom and her daughter and asked if we needed help. We told her what we were looking for, she asked us our shoe sizes and brought out the shoes. Mine fit perfect, my boyfriend had to get a different size. She was friendly and super excited for us to be taking tap dance classes. There's also a studio where they have voice lessons! I honestly didn't know the difference between a lyrical or jazz shoe. Very Nice store, I went in one day on my lunch break, and the lady greeted me as soon as I came in the door. I didn't see her, but I heard her. First time at this dance apparel store. I have no comment about the stock but about the service. Upon arrival the female clerk was helping a customer so I stood in line waiting. There was another employee, a young man who looked quite bizarre, standing behind the counter. He totally ignored me, picked up a small dog, and proceeded to flounce around the room with the dog. I visited for the first time today to purchase ballet shoes for my 3 year old daughter. There were others in the store and only one employee working. I am very new to the dance wear world, but I was very impressed that ballet shoes are available in toddler sizes. $18.99 which ended up to be just under $21 after tax. I feel that I won either way because they seem like good quality shoes, compared to Payless ballet shoes ($19.99 before tax), and being blessed to have a friend whose daughter is a year older who gave us all the tutus and leotards we needed for the year! So besides paying for the class, this is my only purchase I had to make since she started dance class! The service was good, the employee was able to assist us all and provide us with the answers to our questions! And we received a frequent buyer stamp card to earn $20 off once it is filled! Been here twice to get ballet gear for my little girl. Each time, the service was friendly and kind. As a ballerina novice, I had no idea what I needed for my little girl. The staff (I'm guessing the owner) at the store put me at ease and helped get me everything in no time flat. At one point, I asked if this particular leotard would fit my girl. It looked like it would fit with the naked eye. The owner took one look and told me I should get a smaller size and proceeded to find the correct one for my daughter.
