This company is a total mess and only contracts out - - but provide no project management or oversite. They couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag! What should have been a straight forward siding job estimated to take 6-7 weeks took 11-12 weeks due to the sheer incompetence and lack of care or minimum attention. First of all this is a review of the quote/estimate and selling experience I had with Capitol, I had no work done.I was looking to put a basic 12x16 deck on the first floor of my two family house for my mother who is currently in hospice care and living with me , so that she might be able to get outside when the weather breaks, Rep came out took pics and measurements and was told he'd get back to me on a quote, the usual.well as one reviewer mentioned the rep was a pushy used car salesman,didnt listen to anything I said, he just went on script with product, warranties and Capitols stellar reviews,Im not new to this, Ive worked with contractors on various home projects before, many of my friends are contractors.I was quoted $56k for the deck which was absurd!!,I couldn't believe the rep had audacity to give me that number.He was totally clueless, during our initial meetings when ever I asked him a simple question such as hourly labor cost, he would deflect and say I"ll get to that later, when I ask you a direct question , I expect an answer!Time frame wise I was told it could take two to three weeks to get the job done because they have various projects going on, the deck I was looking to for could be done within a week from start to finishI,Ive worked on decks,, now I'm aware that with the pandemic , construction and building materials(Trex decking etc..) have gone up in price,,but the basic deck I was looking to build should cost between $12k and $25k depending on materials used, and if I used just pressure treated lumber instead of composite even cheaper.Ive seen others on here say the same thing about deck quotes, it really is ridiculous,I can easily see the elderly being taken advantage of,(such as my mother),there"s lots of companies out there like this, they"re looking to gouge people, now As I mentioned this a review on the quote/estimate and sales experience, only, that was enough read more

I made an appointment to look at my roof and get an estimate for 3 dormers and a new back roof. The appointment was for 6pm, i confirmed the day before and day of, but still got no call and no one showed up. This is at a house i own and do not live in, so i had to drive 20 minutes and then wait for another 20 minutes past the appointment, then drive 20 minutes back to where i live. No wonder this company has almost all 1 and 2 star reviews. read more

Great experience from the initial conversation with Joey to the completion. We had our dated bathroom completely re-done. We thought this project would take much longer than it did but we were wrong. Everton and Tiago showed up early on a Monday morning and they were finished on Tuesday evening. The were polite, left the place spotless and most importantly, incredibly talented. I called several contracting companies to do work in my yard. Capital called me and set up several meetings, many of which were canceled. When they finally came they quoted me $50,000 for what other contractors could do for less than $10,000. When I declined their work I was called and told they could do the job for much less and provided the highest quality service. Much to my surprise the project manager arrived several days after we scheduled the start of the project and did not seem to know anything about the work to be done. He told me the sales person did not provide specific information. They only completed one project (in a day) and left behind a considerable mess and damage to my property, including failing to cover the air conditioner compressor during the work and damaging the compressor. In addition, there was garbage from workers lunch left on the ground in my back yard. This was the most unprofessional group I have ever worked with. When I called to discuss with the company no one called me back. Save yourself to frustration and DO NOT ENGAGE with this company. read more

I have a home from the 1860's with a slate roof. It isn't easy to find a good team to do the upkeep on it, but I got lucky with Capitol Construction. I found them years ago on Angie's List with a mile long list of great reviews. I am surprised they haven't been reviewed here on Yelp as well. I believe that do all sorts of roofing, shingling & siding. I have been using them for years. After harsh winters when I know I have slate that needs replacing, I call David. That was the case this year for sure! They also cleaned out my gutters and reattached whatever has come loose from the winter. My roof is not only slate but multi-level and difficult pitches, so I need a crew with skill. David's team - office as well as on site workers - are professional and responsive. I believe they do a whole line of contractor work, but we have only used them for gutter installs, gutter cleaning, and slate maintenance. Always satisfied. Pro tip! If you KNOW your roof is going to need some attention after a harsh winter, then you know many other people's roofs will need attention as well. Call in late Feb or early March to get on his schedule - many people know he is a solid contractor so he gets booked up fast. Notes: I do not ask for or receive discounts for my reviews. I was in Somalia in the early 90's and would rather be back there than to deal with this company. Somalia was a pleasant experience compared to what I went through with Boston's premier construction company. I would not recommend them for any work on any house in any neighborhood on the planet. They boasted about their work on the USS Constitution. Big deal they did some copper work. Any sheet metal worker who does cornice work could of done that. Any ways look elsewhere. My wife and I recently hired Capital Construction to remodel and reface our old and outdated bathroom. Let me just say we are more than thrilled with the outcome. From the very start of our experience with Capital, we knew we had made the right choice. Their salesman was courteous and professional, taking his time in explaining the process and products they would employ in our much needed renovation. He also showed us some alternatives and educated us on why Capitals unique and state of the art approach to bathroom makeovers was the right choice for our wants and needs. After coordinating with their suppliers and ordering the products needed to complete our makeover, Capitals licensed plumber and technicians came and removed our old tub and dirty outdated tile and replaced it with an immaculate and contemporary bathroom that has exceeded our expectations and is now a wonderful showpiece that wows our guests and family!!! I contacted Capital Construction to check on the status if my condo's roof to see if it needed repairs after this winter. It took a couple weeks, but someone came out to take a look and (we thought) an estimate. On Thursday morning he said it would be provided by Monday. Two weeks later I received an email that it was ready. But no, they would not provide anything in writing unless we all met with them, even after I explained that it was an association so that was difficult. After I requested even a ballpark figure of the work they were recommending they declined to propose and I never heard back from them again; even when asking a question about ability to meet on a call or come to another a preferred location for the meeting. On June 16th, I receive a lovely packet for CCC, explaining everything about them and what to expect. Also, a generic personalized letter from Frank Gillespie " Dear my name", actually reminding me of my appointment today. My appointment was at 2pm, no phone call to say they will be a little late and then 2:30pm, no call. So, I called and spoke with Carla and explained that I had an appointment at 2pm today! I just had my chimney rebuilt from the roof line up and the crew that did it did a fantastic job and had about 90% of the job done in one day. They probably would've finished it all in one day if not for the astronomical heat that day. The whole process was easy start to finish... I signed up for a free estimate on the company website was contacted the next day had a gentleman come out and look at it and then he wrote up an estimate and contract and we went ahead with the job. read more

We hired capital construction to do a roof and deck replacement. They were very responsive and professional in putting together the estimate, but once the building permit was in place, they wouldn't give us an estimated start date, despite repeated emails and calls over a 6 week period. Eventually we gave up and told them that we no longer wanted to do the project, and asked for the 33% deposit back, less reasonable expenses. That got their attention as they immediately responded stating that custom materials had been ordered and received (which turned out to be false). They returned a portion of the deposit, but refused to return $3,500, stating that they needed to be paid for "20 hours of their sales representatives time pricing the project" at $175/hour. To be fair, we asked them to price a 7' deck extension and structural changes THEY requested after the initial contract was in place, but $3,500 for pricing a project is absurd. They also claimed that they have the right to keep the entire deposit if a homeowner decides not to do the work more than 3 days after signing a contract, and that they did us a favor by returning a portion of it. We offered to split the difference, but they didn't budge, so it's now going to court. I can't speak to the quality of their work, but homeowners beware in case you give capital construction a deposit up front. read more

Arranged for an estimate which the Capital Construction representative was 20 minutes late for. A week after visit I had not heard from Capital Construction who were going to send the estimate to me via email "in a few days" so I called to inquire. The woman on the phone said she had contacted the representative who made the visit and she said they were backed up but he was going to get right on it. It has now been almost 2 weeks since that phone call (3 weeks since the visit) and I've not been contacted by Capital Construction. Totally a waste of my time. read more
