Office appts seem to run on time and I haven't had trouble with the front desk. I saw Dr. Winston (first available) and he helped diagnose a condition in two visits that come sometimes take years to diagnose. He listened to me, was empathetic, and has a lot of experience/expertise. He was as excited as I was when symptoms resolved! It helped that I'm a bit of a crazy researcher and came with a list of possible diagnoses. Dr. Winston humored me and turns out one of the rarer ones on my list was it. I took 1 star off because I think it would've taken longer to diagnose if I hadn't researched conditions and really pushed on the subtler symptoms. (My symptoms sounded "mild" so I had to reiterate that something is wrong when you wake up after 10 hours of sleep still exhausted.) I was very nervous before the recommended procedure and both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Winston were kind to me... I got to pick the music playing during it despite being knocked out ;-) I really appreciated that there's an online portal where you can email the dr and see digital test results and lab reports. Overall I recommend, but Dr. Winston is departing... I heard great things about Amy Stewart and Jennifer Korman and will likely switch to one of them for follow up. read more

The doctors are great but sadly their billing is very messed up and will cause you so much stress! Both my husband and I had issues where we needed endoscopies done. They work with the Ambulatory Endoscopy Center where they will collect an upfront payment before the procedure. Then they will only apply that payment to the center cost and nothing else. So you have to jump through hoops to try to get them to refund you so you can pay the other bills for the procedure. Then when you're waiting for your money to come back so you can pay your other bill Capital Digest will contact you incessantly to pay them and will send you to collections. If you're going to use a company for your procedures you could surely have better coordination than this. We will not be using them in the future which is sad bc the doctors we saw were great. The doctors should consider moving to a different practice b/c they are going to lose patients over this! read more

Very impressed with the DC offices. Called for a colonoscopy, went in for a consultation first. Dr. Winston was patient, and explained everything clearly and in detail. The day of the procedure went smoothly. Showed up, was taken quickly and prepped. The anesthesiologist was in the room and explained his part. Dr. Winston explained everything afterwards and I received a letter regarding results. No complaints, they are definitely pros from my experience! read more

I started seeing Dr. Collier three years ago for severe bloating and cramping. A friend, a woman, had seen him for her first colonoscopy. I had already had an UC of the pelvic area so was not worried about that. He recommended a low fodmap diet. I did not think it could possibly help--and it did! After about two weeks on the diet I was symptom free for over two years. A few months ago my symptoms changed into acid reflux and other issues. I am continuing care and treatment and after bloodwork I will likely need more tests to examine for celiac. Dr. Collier explains everything well and I like that he first suggested non-invasive options. When I have requested information through the portal I get responses in less than a day. My spouse is getting his first colonoscopy with him. I would recommend this practice. read more

I have tried over three days to get through to a live person, and I either have to give up or I get disconnected. Instead of hiring more doctors, HIRE STAFF TO ANSWER THE PHONES. The doctors themselves should try to get through and when they realize how ridiculous the phone line is (there are 7 people ahead of you, your wait time is hours and hours....) they might try to develop a system more respectful of the patients. read more

I have seen two doctors at this practice, and for both of them, their bedside manner really left something to be desired -- both seemed very unsympathetic, and one of them delivered a diagnosis of a serious medical condition to me in a very callous and uncaring way. When I expressed my dismay over the diagnosis, his sarcastic response was: "sorry for being so thorough." I wouldn't go here again. read more

Took forever (was 2 months, then canceled in July...then 2 more months) to get my procedure scheduled and then right before, the staff calls and says they no longer take Tricare. I've been a patient here for years and now they no longer support the military?! I'm very disappointed especially since they waited so long to tell me. I could have gone somewhere else but now I'll have to wait again. Conclusion: They give a rat's ass for your health. I suggest looking elsewhere. Went to see Dr. KEVIN COLLIER, MD and my experience was very interesting. Dr. Collier heard my symptoms and history and started explaining about how digestive system works for a good 10 minutes as if I am in an elementary school classroom. Never felt or touched my stomach until I asked him. He told me that he would never know what's wrong with my system unless he does an endoscopy which I thought was fair and we scheduled the session. But at the end interestingly, he gave me a pack of medicine to take home. He does not know what I have. Yet, he gives me a medicine to take? I was confused. He had proudly stated that the meds are free of charge and that sales rep has given it to him to try. He said, "It doesn't hurt to try!". So I did the endoscopy and the biopsy. I can sense that this place feels like a factory. Patients in and out. In and out. Heard nurses laughing of a patient who could not wake up after the anesthesia. After the session, he explained to me that I have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and that I should take the medicine. I was quite suspicious about his diagnoses and shared the reports with other doctors who told me that endoscopy images do not look abnormal. The biopsy results, I never heard back from the doctor but I saw it on my insurance bill and was paid for. So, red flag here. This practice wants to make a quick $$. Giving out medicines without fully knowing the causes which can be very harmful to patients. read more

Dr Korman and her team are the most amazing health care providers I have encountered! I recently lost my job, and had to get an individual health insurance which is very expensive. They worked with me to try and find out the cost of my procedure before the procedure, during the procedure they reassured me that they will help me apply for medical financial assistance, and now they are willing to allow me to pay what I am able to pay to clear the remaining small outstanding bill! Dr Korman and her team have made me feel important and not just a number. I would recommend them to anyone needing their services. These are excellent health care providers. I highly recommend the K Street office and Amy Stewart, CRNP!! She was absolutely amazing. She is better than the MDs in the Capital Digestive practice. I came to her after being ignored by my previous GI doctor at the Shady Grove office. Amy knew her stuff and made me feel at ease. She was honest, non judgmental, and funny. A PERSON! Not a stiff and rude robotic doctor. You must give her a try. My only regret is not finding her sooner. I felt knowledgeable about my disease for the first time in awhile. She addressed every one of my concerns. You know that silly mark you've been googling on WebMD - she will talk you through any panic. Side note: the office is beautiful. The call center for appointments and such is horrible. I would give a 0 if possible. It takes an eternity on hold to get reach someone and that is if you are not disconnected multiple times. I had to call back multiple times due to my calls being dropped when i was transferred by the automated system for some unknown reason. read more

I have just had the most ridiculous experience trying to set up an appointment. I called today and someone came on at 4.32pm after a long hold. As I was trying to understand better the difference between they "accept my insurance" and if they are in-network, she began to become confrontational and accusatory. As I responded to her while in shock, she hung up on me. I read the reviews on here and on google, and clearly they need to fire some people at their front desk if they want to be a reputable service to the community. read more

She was wonderful--she listened to me, gave me advice without being pushy or judgy, set me up with an action plan, and was super knowledgable about the latest drugs/treatments available. Leaving her office, I felt really well taken care of and hopeful for my future. I see the three star rating, so I better understand the lack of service. I called this CDCenter at 4 pm, went around the phone tree for 15 minutes. Then tried the number at K street, again went around the phone tree and ultimately the phone just disconected. I guess since they close at 430pm, staff refuse yo answer any call. I'm not paying any cancellation fee, nor am I calling all day hoping to get through to an office that gets paid for their service. Why is my time not as important as theirs. SMH, for this I'm paying 500 monthly in insurance. I called in July due to severe abdomen pain, I was told I could not get an appointment till September. Okay yeah right. My insurance told me to go to Urgent care, who told me to see my doc. I found another Gastro. He performed test and found I had EColi. I didn't even get a call from my Doctor at this Gastro Center and the girl on the phone had an attitude like, tough, no one is available. Even speaking to a nurse was 6 weeks away. My husband had a colonoscopy Thursday October 21 in the Rockville office. They inserted an IV in his hand incorrectly which turned the entire top of his hand black and blue, today is Monday Oct 25 and his entire top of his hand is still bruised. I have tried contacting the office several times on Friday and Monday no one answers, I left a message and no return call. The woman who inserted the IV needs to be retrained. read more

I had a colonoscopy two months ago. I had a follow-up scheduled with the doctor for today at 3 pm. Last week, they called me and asked me if I could come in at 12:45 instead. Sure, no problem. I got there a few minutes early. I waited. At 1 pm, a nurse announced to the waiting room that the doctor is running at least 45 minutes behind schedule. There were two other patients ahead of me, and they had also been asked to come in early. I told the nurse I had to get back to work, and I asked to cancel my appointment. And I reminded her that I waited over an hour at my last appointment. She asked if I'd like to meet with a nurse practitioner instead to go over my procedure results. Sure, that works. About 15 minutes later, I was in with the nurse. She gave me a printout of the same procedure results that they had already given me on the day of the procedure two months ago. The only new thing was the biopsy results. She told me the results are good; everything's fine. Good news. The conversation lasted five minutes at most. Co-pay: $75. UGH. Couldn't we have done this by email/text message/phone call/patient portal? I already paid a hefty amount for the procedure itself. But they just had to squeeze out more to tell me I'm fine ... in less than 5 minutes. read more

After having a traumatic experience with Capital Digestive Care, I read the comments, and understood why. They will send you for procedures you don't need and fail to follow-up. They are interested in profit over people. I had a colonoscopy there, for which I never should have been referred. I had hemorrhoids and they still haven't helped the issue. The continue to hound me for nearly $1,000 in bills, and that's with full insurance coverage. They monopolize DC, but I suggest going outside to stay away from them. read more

My visit here was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had with a doctor in DC. The tech and the nurse were both nice and actually engaged my nervousness and conversation instead of the usual "let me take your blood pressure and weight and I'm not interested in anything else beyond that so don't talk to me" attitude. I saw Doctor Howard who was awesome. She really listened to what I had to say about my symptoms and, more importantly, the book I was reading: How Doctors Think (I highly recommend this book for everyone!). She was busy, but definitely made sure she listened to me and even discussed the book with me. She didn't even try to multitask by talking and checking my eyes at the same time. Everyone was just really nice and friendly and it felt like a human experience here so I will recommend this place to anyone who needs a gastroenterologist. read more

Great experience today! First, the front desk staff was extremely nice, which is always a plus. Then I met with the first person who weighed me and checked my BP. She was very sweet and funny! Always appreciated! Most importantly, the Dr. Weinstein was great. I've been to many gastros over the years who have done the same tests, never found anything wrong, and sent me on my way. Dr. Weinstein seemed very knowledgeable and I'm hoping he (and my lab tests) will figure out what's wrong with me! Highly recommend! read more

If you want to take drugs, this is the place to go. It's the solution to EVERYTHING. If you want your thoughts and preferences ignored, this is the place for you. No one asked me about my impression of the history and cause of the issue. Rambling directions on my treatment options. I just want to give a shout-out to the entire team that helped me with my colonoscopy from the front office staff who were friendly, respectful and responsive, to the intake nurse who was very thorough, explained everything and painlessly inserted my catheter. ​ ​While I don't remember their names, the anesthesiologist who asked me to help her because she said she wasn't a very good driver as she wheeled me into the procedure room added humor to the morning. ​ ​Dr. Musselman was kind, courteous and made me feel at ease and was someone who was at the top of his game. ​ ​Overall the experience made me feel like I was in great hands and that my care was their priority. ​ ​I will have no issues with making future referrals if ever asked. read more

I've been a patient at Capital Digestive Care for almost a decade and been seen in the DC, Chevy Chase and Bethesda offices plus had weekly infusions at their CC office . My experience with all three offices has been consistently great. Staff very friendly and helpful and the nurses/docs in the infusion center are downright AMAZING! All this helped by the fact that Dr Jessica Korman is my doc and as previous reviewers have already noted, she is beyond fabulous! Super smart, persistent and a great communicator. I'm sure there are problems with the offices but I've yet to experience a single one. read more

This place and I have a love/hate relationship. Pros: --the staff is actually very kind. The scheduling person went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable (I was kind of freaked out being sick in a new city, and when she said I'd need someone to pick me up, I kind of lost my shit. That was awkward). --it's convenient to 75% of offices in DC, and more importantly, my office. --Billing is easy and painless --I've hardly had any wait time, even in a bustling place Cons: --Dr. Trujillo reminds me of my grandfather...who also does endoscopies. He's nice, but I never felt completely comfortable with him because he has that "oh shucks" bedside manner that makes me nervous. I wasn't exactly seeing him because I had the sniffles, you know? Please make me think you're competent. --I spent approximately 2 minutes with Dr. Trujillo before he brought in a DVD about endoscopic procedures. I just wished he talked me through it, because those videos are far too "one size fits all" to be useful, especially in my particular situation. --The office can feel a little assembly-line-ish, especially when getting procedures done. It's not that something specific went wrong, I just got an off-vibe from the entire experience, and truly, hope I just stay healthy so I never need to return. read more

Capital Digestive only cares about money, not patients. Do not make an appointment here if you're looking for a doctor/center that actually cares about your well-being. I had a procedure done in December and still do not have the results, nor have I been contacted by anyone from Capital Digestive except to send me my bill for the procedure and to leave me a voicemail regarding my balance. Dr. Ramsay Daher "diagnosed" me within 10 minutes of meeting me and without having read any of my medical history or even listening to a comprehensive expression of my symptoms. He ordered a procedure and I had it done the following day, and am 100% regretting that at this point. I attempted to make a follow-up appointment after my procedure, they told me to instead call in a month when I am ready for an appointment, then when I called a month later they said that there were no appointments for 1.5 months. I asked them to please speak with my doctor and see if they could get me in any sooner. They said they would call me back, they never did. There has been no follow-up, unless it's been money-related. read more

I should start by saying that Dr. Schwartz is an awesome doctor. Bed-side manner aside; this guy is solid and is also apparently well-known in his field. I really have a low opinion of medicine, but Dr. S may be the one exception - I guess that says a lot. Unfortunately any good that comes from the doctor is totally negated by the staff. They are useless human beings. I have waited up to five months for the doctor to call in a prescription, so ultimately I have to find another doctor. If you call the staff and tell them how long you've been waiting for a prescription, all they tell you is that they'll send him a message. Weeks go by. No resolution. So I've repeated the same thing dozens of times. Every two weeks I have them send the doctor a message and there is no response. Can I speak to the doctor? No. Can I speak to a nurse? No. So what do I do if no one calls me back? Response: call us back and we'll send another message. And so I do. Useless. read more

I thought the care was good but the billing and transparency of billing leave a lot to be desired. I asked if they were in network with Cigna, Answer was yes. Turns out the answer was no they are not part of the Cigna network. Do not ask if they take your insurance .Get it in writing that are in plan. !000's of dollars cost to me. I can't say enough amazing things about Amy Stewart! Amy is a fantastic gastro nurse practitioner​. She is incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and skilled. I never feel rushed during the appointment, and Amy's bedside manner is terrific - she is friendly and a great listener and I feel comfortable​ discussing any issues. AWFUL! STAY AWAY! The doctor I saw here prescribed a CT scan. The doctor who is consistently rated a top doctor never called me to provide the CT scan results even though I told her I was concerned I may have a serious illness such as cancer. During my visit, I asked the doctor if I should see an ob/gyn based on my symptoms. This "top doctor" said no. Well 4 weeks after my CT scan, the doctor still had not provided my scan results. Only after calling the office FOUR times did someone call me today to tell me another doctor will provide the results. I called the office twice today and they told me the other doctor (not the top doctor who examined me and was supposed to provide the CT scan results) would call me before 5 pm today. Well the other doctor finally called at 4:34 pm today to tell me I had a condition that required immediate examination by the ob/gyn! The "top doctor" sat on this critical information for 4 weeks after my CT scan and never bothered to call and tell me about it. Also, when I asked why the top doctor hadn't called me to give me the CT scan results, they said she went on vacation yesterday. So basically this top doctor never responded to my calls requesting my CT scan results knowing it had critical information and took a vacation without ever returning my calls or providing my test results. That's not care, that's negligence. read more

I wanted to post a positive review sincere there are so many negative reviews. I saw both DNP Amy Stewart and Dr. Kroman for a high-resolution anoscopy, anal cancer screening, and ablation treatment. Obviously, this is a very uncomfortable topic to broach with doctors - however, I am at high risk because I am a bone marrow transplant recipient who is immune-suppressed & is LGBT. Anal cancer is rarely talked about publicly, but rates are just as high as for cervical cancer for "high-risk" people who have anal sex - treatment is pretty terrible, and prevention is key! My first appointment with Amy Stewart could not have been better - one of the best medical experiences I've ever had in 40 years, including 10 years in cancer treatment. She was warm, charming, funny, and completely non-judgemental. She was non-nonsense and factual and we went over my risk factors, options for screening (starting at the least invasive), and what we would do if we found HSIL (pre-cancerous lesions). We did an anal pap (not bad at all), followed by a high-resolution anoscopy (similar to a pelvic exam), and took two biopsies. We did indeed find HSIL, and I had a follow-up with Dr. Korman to do an ablation treatment (burn the tiny area with a laser). Dr. Korman was similarly kind, funny, and warm given the sensitive nature of the procedure. I found her to be deeply informed and supportive of LGBTQIA+ people and I was so grateful to have access to this care. One of the "most traumatic" losses I can recall as a queer person was losing one of my family friends to anal cancer when he was only 47 years old! Doctors at the ER ridiculed him, taunted, and humiliated him when he sought emergency care for late-stage cancer (including making jokes about him "finally getting his period") -- and yes, this was in the DMV! Both Dr. Korman and Dr. Stewart are deeply compassionate, committed, professional, and no-nonsense. The office also navigated the nightmare that is health insurance (who initially refused coverage, but we sorted it out). I see a lot of negative comments - but wanted to share my amazing experience. This is potentially life-saving care for me, and they took it seriously. read more

Amy was amazing. She was the nurse practitioner! She took the time to ask what exactly was wrong and even asked about what went on a week prior to have every important aspect of why my friends stomach was acting up. I was there for moral support for my friend but had to write about how amazing the staff was and how time efficient they were. They went out of their way to make sure both of us were comfortable. All I can say is I went in to talk to Mrs Domonic Howard about my digestive issues. I said that I think I have bad bacteria in my gut(candida) that may be causing my stomach issues. Her response: "Well that means you have HIV, Do you think you have HIV?". I'm smarter than that so I disregarded as studies have shown that this is a major problem in the United States due to sugar and over use of antibiotics. Her whole thing was just doing a colonoscopy( I guess thats where they make their money). Whether she was misinformed or just inexperienced I stopped seeing her and now have a more knowledgeable doctor who says she must be misinformed. Thats all. Thank You! read more
