Initially, our home warranty company, American Home Shield, assigned the claim to Bennett Air. They came out, diagnosed the problem as a faulty reversing valve, and ordered the part. About a week later, they returned to replace it, but after working on our unit for nearly three hours, they told us the replacement part was defective and that they would need to order another one. Then, to our surprise, we received another invoice from Bennett Air stating that our system now required approximately $4,000 worth of additional work. What started as "we just need to reorder a part" suddenly turned into thousands of dollars in repairs. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable with them working on our system and requested a second opinion through our home warranty company, which was unfortunately a difficult process. Before that second opinion was scheduled, we paid out of pocket for an independent assessment from Booth Air HVAC. Their technician reviewed the work Bennett Air had performed and noted concerns, including wiring that appeared to have been disturbed and work that did not look properly completed. He also believed the issue was likely the compressor, not the reversing valve. Our home warranty company eventually assigned the second opinion to Cecil & Sons. I admit I was a little nervous after reading some online reviews, but I decided to give them a chance--and I'm so glad I did. Robert from Cecil & Sons came out promptly, performed a thorough assessment, and also believed the compressor was the problem. The necessary parts were ordered, and he returned to begin the repair. When the system still wasn't operating correctly, he didn't simply leave or guess at the problem. Instead, he remained committed to finding the root cause and even called in another technician, Stacy, to assist. Together, they identified the actual issue, ordered the correct part, and had it delivered quickly. When Stacy returned to complete the repair, our HVAC system was finally fixed. It's now been about a month, and our air conditioning has continued to work perfectly, blowing cold air without any issues. I have to give a huge shout-out to Cecil & Sons for their professionalism, persistence, and honesty. They took the time to diagnose the problem correctly instead of pushing thousands of dollars in questionable repairs. If we had continued with Bennett Air, I truly don't know how much money we would have spent or whether our system would even be working today. We are incredibly grateful for Cecil & Sons and would highly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services.

On 5/13/26, a technician came to my home through my home warranty company and confirmed my HVAC unit was not functioning. He identified a refrigerant line that needed replacement and told me he would address it immediately. I followed up on 5/18/26 to confirm the status. Tawana - who I'm being generous by calling an administrator - told me she had spoken to the technician and that the unit was working fine, and suggested I call my home warranty company if I had concerns. I pushed back because that was completely not true. I think I would know if my AC unit is working on an 95 degree day. So I asked specifically whether she had spoken to the technician who visited my home. She confirmed she had. When I continued to question the accuracy of that, she responded with clear frustration and said, "Ma'am do you want us to come to your property or not?" At that point I responded with an expletive, because frankly she had earned it. She hung up. Next, I called the technician (Stacey) directly. He confirmed he had entered the wrong information into the work order and that he had not spoken to Tawana. She had relayed inaccurate information and handled my follow-up with hostility instead of accountability. Her low effort doesn't begin to cover it. After that, my home warranty company attempted to reach Ceceil & Sons twice. No one answered the first time. The second time, Tawana told them that Cecil & Sons would not be returning to my home. Shocker - petty & unprofessional. The technician himself was professional and honest. The problem is entirely with how this company handles customer communication when something goes wrong - and that starts and ends with their incompetent front desk. We pushed off the replacement thinking our unit would survive one more winter, but of course of furnace went out unexpectedly in the middle of the night during one of the coldest stints of the season. Called Residential Express the following morning, they pulled up my quote from 4 months prior, verified the price hadn't changed and were able to schedule me for a full HVAC replacement the next day. Freddie and Flavian arrived on time and were very professional moving through our house and working in our backyard and utility closet. They explained any changes they needed to make, went over the new setup and recommended service intervals, and hauled all of the old equipment away, leaving our house looking better than when they arrived. Very happy with our experience with Residential Express and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

He arrived on time, did a full check, and instead of upselling me on something unnecessary, he uncovered a much bigger issue caused by our home warranty company. Turns out our condenser and compressor were completely mismatched in size, which explained why our AC wasn't cooling properly. What really sealed my respect for him was that he refused to charge for the diagnosis. I booked him again to create a detailed report so we can take the home warranty company to SCC. But he came back quickly and helped me over the phone which helped with a temporary fix. System ended up shutting down a 3rd time and he came out again to fix it promptly! He didn't have the needed part on hand (which i would recommend that he carry in his truck) but it was easy to order on Amazon and had same day shipping so it wasn't a problem. I was excited to have found our new Heating and Air Company and wanted to sign a service contract. They had a new software system, so they couldn't send it out yet. Over the next few months, I called and texted Eric's cell and the company line where I spoke to an operator. They either didn't respond or put me off. This happened 5 or 6 times. Sadly, I can't trust a company that won't return calls or send out a service contract. Back to looking for a new company. Too bad, because I liked their work.

Makes me wonder if it's all just an attempt to upsell. Wouldn't recommend. R&M came to my house for standard HVAC maintenance visits in March and September of 2025. They seemed to be reasonably priced. I can't speak to their competence in conducting these visits because they didn't find anything wrong with the system, and it's hard to evaluate their expertise under those circumstances. During the September visit, the technician said that I should have my ducts cleaned at some point during the following year, and that the technique they used would require them to remove all of the registers in the house and probably damage the surrounding paint, requiring repainting. I have been considering moving, and I thought it would make sense to wait on the duct cleaning, since I would repaint the rooms before putting the house up for sale, and any prospective buyers would be happier with vents that had been freshly cleaned. Six months after I was told I should have a duct cleaning within a year, it was time for my spring maintenance again. I called R&M at 1:23 pm on March 26, 2026 using the number I had saved in my phone from calling them to schedule in the past and got a weird automated message before it even rang asking me to tell it who I am so it could see whether the recipient would take my call. I thought there might have been a mistake with the connection, so I hung up, checked the number, and called back about a minute later, getting the same message. I told the automated voice who I was, and waited. Then I was told the recipient wouldn't take my call but I could leave a voicemail message, which I did. I left my name and reason for my call, and told them my phone number twice. When I didn't receive a call back, I thought there might be a problem with their phones, so I looked up their email on their website, and sent an email to their listed address (info@rmaircontrol.com) at 11:42 am on March 31 saying I had left a message that wasn't returned and I wanted to schedule my spring maintenance. I got no response. I wondered if they had closed, so I checked them out on Yelp and saw that they were supposedly still in business. I sent them a message through Yelp at 4:44 pm on April 2, saying I had tried to get in touch previously by phone and email, hadn't heard back, and that I would appreciate a response. Their response at 8:40 pm on April 2, which was forwarded to an old email account associated with Yelp that I rarely use anymore, said that their estimate was $95 and "We have the week available." When I sent them a message a few days later -- HI - Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure what timeframe "the week" is. What is the best way to get in touch with you to talk about specific times for scheduling a maintenance visit? Thanks -- they sent a message back at 9:03 am on April 6 that said "I do have availability from next week Tuesday." My reply sent later the same day said, "Do you mean tomorrow the 7th or the following Tuesday the 14th? This is getting to be a frustrating experience. Before we move forward, will you please tell me why you didn't answer my phone call or return my phone message, didn't answer my email sent to the address on your website, and are refusing to give me contact info to have a phone conversation with you about scheduling? This is very a very different experience than in previous years." They said, "We're sorry, but every time we email you back on a response it takes you several days so we do get booked up very fast." They subsequently sent me a message on Yelp alleging that I had never before emailed or called them or used their company for services, which is untrue. I have verified payment to them and an invoice from R&M Air Control. So I sent an email to the same email address I emailed them at before (used the "reply" function) with a copy of my original email to them on March 31 and a screenshot of my cellphone log showing I had called them on March 26. Their email reply (which proves my original email was to a working account controlled by R&M) to me said only "4/14 after 2 address," which is kind of disturbingly incoherent. I'm not sure what this was supposed to mean. They have left me wondering if they are reasonably priced and initially responsive to try to get you to buy a service that costs many hundreds of dollars, only to blow you off if you don't immediately take them up on it, or if they are just extremely incompetent, disorganized, and unable to communicate in any kind of reasonable way with their clients. In either case, I don't recommend them. Can you imagine what it would be like working with them if an actual repair issue arose? I wouldn't want to. I'm frustrated because now I have to look for a new HVAC company, and prices go up the later in the season you schedule this kind of maintenance. Very disappointing.

John was very polite and immediately told me my HVAC closet smelled because a mouse died in there. He also called a relative while at my place and on the way home to give me their suggestions on dealing with the smell, which has nothing to do with HVAC and is above and beyond in my opinion. Yes, I did have to pay the $100 fee to come out. I paid in cash to not have to pay the 10% processing fee. I was fine with paying this to have someone come out so quickly, and on a Sunday. Would call again. When my problem actually involves HVAC repair.

They quoted $500 for a valve that retails around $200, and a total of $1,500 for the replacement which is extremely expensive based on standard pricing. They also failed to check whether the unit was still under warranty. If I had approved the repair, the actual problem would have remained and I would have paid $1,500 for nothing. I tried to resolve this directly, but the supervisor said he would call "when he has time." It has now been about a week with no follow-up, only contact from assistants. I recommend getting a second opinion before approving any major repairs here.

I called next morning and next business day he returned and completed repair. Again on time,very professional and leave no dirt or waste after job. Prices are horribly high now everywhere,but plumbing can't be avoided,so their price point is adequate to area,but service is superb.
