I'm about 4 years late with this review but thought I put one in. I guess not. I decided on a completely new system and the price was right. I had tenants in the house at the time and instead of recharging the old system with the obsolete R22, did a complete conversion with one of the best Brands out there. Trane. They were professional and complete, and I appreciate the fact that they could work around guys who were building a bathroom for me in the same basement. UPDATE(next morning): I woke up feeling cold and asked my ecobee to turn the heat up. *crickets* ...nothing. So I get up, go to the thermostat and turn the heat up. The temperature is 62°. ...nothing. Ugh. I call Marlon who relays that sometimes the programming of the Ecobee causes problems. When the unit was installed the tech (Everette) was having trouble figuring out the thermostat (ecobee), but I thought he resolved it. Maybe not. So, a new tech is being sent out to address the issue. We'll see what happens. Welp, I've got a new HVAC! I'm selling my home and my unit needed an upgrade. A One inspected, advised, and was able to install the new unit with the quickness. I appreciate that as 1) it's cold out and 2) my house is pending sale. I think the new unit actually helped with offers. Anywho, the inspection was on Thurs and installation was on Monday. Leery said it would take 8-hours, but they were out before 3. GREAT! They arrived on time (early), installed the Air Handler and compressor, tested the thermostat to make sure (it was pushing out cold air at first, but Everett worked it out), cleaned up, and that was that. Overall it was a good experience and I'm sure it'll be more efficient. read more

Beware this company. I called them to come service my AC. The guy was rude to me on the phone, plain and simple. I left a review on Google saying that, which his son called to try to apologize for. They called me numerous times. He then proceeded to respond to l review I left posting my personal information. This is a petty person who is trying to bully me for leaving a simple review based on their poor professionalism. I have told them before that businesses operating in the state of Maryland can be reported for such behavior to be Maryland 's Attorney General's Office for revealing PII. Let this stand as a record and notice. I will not be bullied. And if this is how they're out here treating the public, there needs to be a record of it. read more

I am so pleased with this company. Everyone was so respectful to my home and to me. Scheduling an appt was easy. Discussing what was needed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, we needed a whole new system, but it made sense as the system was old. The price was good. I called A One Heating & AC to replace my hot water heater. Marlon was very professional, explained everything to me and told me my options. A A couple of days later they came for the install. The two technicians removed my existing hot water heater and replaced it with a new one. The entire job only took a few hours. They were very professional, laid down a cloth so they wouldn't ruin my floors and cleaned up behind themselves. And, they had what I considered very reasonable prices. About a week later, I was experiencing problems with my air conditioning unit in another property. Marlon and his dad came to see what the problem was. It was determined that I needed to replace my A.C. unit. The two technicians, Marlon and his dad came to start the process. Again, they were very professional, made sure they covered my flooring and got the job done quickly. What I'm most impressed about them is they take the time to explain everything to you, their prices are reasonable, they always either answer the phone when you call (anytime day or night) or return your call within a hour. Our heat pump recently died during this summer's heatwave so I started calling around to several HVAC companies here in the Bowie / Upper Marlboro area. Although several companies, some of whom were more well known to me, could have done the job, i was so impressed with the professionalism of Leerie and his son Marlon that I decided to go with them. They showed a genuine interest and commitment to ensuring that my needs were met and provided me with a very competitive price for a TRANE Heat Pump. Of course, no matter how good the heat pump is, it must be installed properly and his technician crew (Earl and Everett) made sure of that. DO NOT USE A1 OR YOU WILL PAY..$ Had issue with my a/c not staying, I replaced the compacitor and switch they were old, a/c seemed ok after that but I just wanted to have it checked out to make sure.I called A1 they had the $59 diagnosis special including trip charge, A1 came out tech was Raymond K, he looked at the unit and he said the compacitor was wired wrong and the head psi on my compressor was too high causing issue with the valve in the attic to stick close, I asked to see the head psi on the gauge and the wire that wired wrong, because I took pictures of it before I replaced it, he never showed me he kept calling back on the phone to someone in his truck, finally he came out and told me my option was to buy a new unit $ 11500 or I came up grade to one for $14500, and they had a payment plan he had a sales book with 4 options, he asked for driver license so he could run a check to see if I qualify. All he cared about was to sale a unit. This guy was a Sales Tech not a a/c tech by far, I told him no could not afford it and he got rude with me like I had no choice I asked what was the fee to repair what was wrong he told me $4000, I needed a heat pump and a compressor, valve, evaporater. I never even got a full estimate from him. I told him I can't do it i just want it repaired. He came in my house and gave me a bill for $189 for trip charge and service , he never even talked about the repairs that I needed. He never did anything he humiliatedme in front of my family. I called A1 office and the guy on the phone told me that I had to pay what I was being charged it was the techs decision and a representative will call me back. No one ever called me back at all, I called another A/C service out and paid $75.00 and was told my a/c was fine head psi was great and he showed me the gauge, A/1 heating and air is out to sale units twice the price and not repair anything at all, the tech Raymond K that came out was a jerk and just barged in my house like he owned it , I will be reporting them to the BBB, AND TRYING TO DISPUTE THE CHARGES FOR NO SERVICE AT ALL read more

I had a technician from this business come to my home for a diagnostic of my air-conditioning unit. He informed me that I needed a new unit because the motor and compressor was shot and it would cost me $4500 for the Unit and labor. I didn't trust this person's opinion and got a family member who knows the business come over and check it out. He looked over the unit and connections to the power and found out that someone turned a relay around to off. He turned it on and the system is working perfectly. I suggest anyone getting any work done on the air conditioning to always get second or third opinions and lookout for these types of schemes these so called techs use to get u to spend unnecessary money u don't have to spend and put in their pockets. read more

I had a old school community central cooling/heating system with line voltage thermostat needing to be changed in summer. The technician A One sent to us did not install it correctly so it would not be able to switch to heating. Of course we didn't notice the problem until winter. By the time we called back and reported the problem, the owner of the company had fired the technician and the new person he sent did not know how to fix it after 4 visits (a few times he came with the owner too). At the end, to his credit the owner agreed to pay any HVAC technician I can find to do the job. So I hired someone else who switched around how the wires are hooked up and fixed it in 10 minutes. If you have line voltage system, they clearly don't know it much. I would not recommend them. read more

I was told someone would be at my home between 8 and 12 noon. I sat around waiting, waiting, and waiting for someone to come and no one showed up. No one called. Nothing! I had a furnace and air conditioning unit installed on Thursday, July 7, 2015. They were scheduled to come to my home at 9am to start the job, they were at my house at 8:55am! It was two technicians who removed my old furnace/ac unit and replaced it with the new one. The job took approximately 5 hours; they worked the entire time without taking a break. My house is kind of complicated and lives by the motto "if it can go wrong, it will!" But the technicians were able to work through the complications that my home presents and get the units installed and working well. I am now looking forward to this summer because I know I am going to have a cool home! I intend to recommend A One Heating and Air Conditioning to family and friends when they are seeking service or replacement of their units. Oh...and their prices were unbeatable! This is a very professional and responsive company. They do quality work at a reasonable price. I had no air conditioning because my air conditioning system would not hold refrigerant. I called A One Heating and Air Conditioning and the owner came out the same day and quoted a price to replace the coil. I finally got back with him and he came back out and wrote up a contract to do the replacement. The service technicians later came out on the agreed upon date and very quickly replaced the coil and tested the system. The air conditioning has been working like a charm ever since. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend A One Heating and Air Conditioning for any issues relating to heating or AC. read more
