I don't take pleasure in leaving this review, but Jim Tatro's State Farm office has become just that. Jim used to be actively engaged, backed by a capable staff, but those days are long gone. Now, it's a constant game of reaching voicemail, dealing with a revolving door of new faces, and having emails ignored or mishandled. What's worse is that I can't even trust the information they provide after repeatedly receiving incorrect details about my own policies. I believe in second (and third) chances, but there's a limit. What finally pushed me over the edge--and ultimately led me to move all my policies to another office--was a simple question about whether my auto policy would cover me in Canada. I emailed them, only to be told by Jim's staff that coverage extended only 50 miles across the border. This struck me as odd since most major insurers cover Canada, so I followed up, asking them to confirm. They assured me Jim had 17 years of experience and knew what he was talking about. Skeptical, I called a non-State Farm agent who confirmed they could cover me for a month in Canada but encouraged me to double-check with my State Farm agent. So, I reached out to three other local State Farm offices, all of which actually answered their phones and told me unequivocally that State Farm policies do cover trips to Canada. I relayed this back to Tatro's office, only to be told again that I was wrong and they weren't budging. Finally, I called State Farm corporate, who immediately confirmed my coverage and expressed concern that my local agent was so misinformed after 17 years in business. Even after this, Tatro's office still insisted corporate was wrong. Unbelievable. At my wit's end, I suggested a conference call with corporate. They hesitated but eventually agreed, and right as we're about to get on the call, they suddenly admit, "Oh, we actually spoke with underwriting, and yes, you're covered." I was livid--an entire day wasted on a basic question they should've known the answer to. That was the final straw. I realized it was time to pull the plug and leave this train wreck of an office for good.

I had been working on getting insurance set up for a home I was buying in Reno but felt frustrated after weeks of back and forth with my previous insurance agent and still no quote. So, I decided to give Courtney a call to see what she would be able to do. WOW - what a difference!! I gave her the information about the new home and my car in the afternoon and had an email with a detailed quote attached by the next morning!! I also got a followup call from Courtney by mid-day to make sure I got the quote and to see if I had any questions. She lined me up with insurance coverage that had excellent provisions for both home and auto coverage and at a very reasonable cost. I was so happy and impressed by Courtney's professionalism and the level of customer service she provided. But wait, it gets better. A few months after establishing this new insurance coverage I ended up having a claim. My car slid on some black ice and hit a truck that was stopped at a light. I wasn't moving very fast but, sadly, my car was determined a total loss. I was a quite distraught on hearing this and I was worried about getting less money for my car than I would truly need to replace it. Courtney helped me in the claim process and followed up with the the claim handler numerous times. The insurance carrier gave me an excellent settlement for the value of my car and I was paid promptly. Also, my auto insurance coverage included a very good rental allowance and so I was able to rent a quality car for several weeks which allowed me the time I needed to find and buy another car. This experience made clear to me that I not only have excellent insurance but that I now have a wonderful Insurance Agent in Courtney - I can rest assured and trust in her knowledge of the industry, professionalism, and top notch customer service. The AAA employee (insurance agent?} listened to my concerns but told me too bad, it is what it is. The "snapshot" discount for safe driving is anything but a snapshot. It is a personal tracker and agreement allow AAA to sell your personal location data & trends for more than 3/4 of the year. It kills your cell phone battery as it is always searching for the slightest movement. All of this and you MIGHT be offered a 10% discount when you renew. They even track and deduct points for when I am on my bicycle and stop to take photos or change the music. The "agent" told me "How are we supposed to know?", if you are moving you are scored. They of course don't insure my bicycle or trips on it, public transit, my Uber driver.... Remember when a 20-year driving record with no tickets or accidents was good enough to indicate that you were a safe driver and insurable, those days are gone. Personal data sales apparently informs them more than your credit score, insurance score, and DMV print out. Don't bother calling the "MySafeDrive" app either. Their answer to all questions is "You can always cancel and be charged more." How about I cancel and go back to a car insurance company that doesn't sell my personal information to the highest bidder? I wonder what AAA is doing to people that buy travel through them? Luggage trackers? Sell your travel photos and plans?

You have 15 days to tell them not to do such stupidity or they charge you and you don't get your money back!!
