This is our 3rd stop on our food tour. We picked it because it Thai and it was 5 stars. I see why it's 5 stars!! It's a newer restaurant and bar with 2 large tv screens. We order takeout but they were busy. We couldn't wait to taste everything so we sat in the car to take a nibble. We ordered several appetizers and an entree and everything was BANGING!!! The moneybags were stuffed tight and was very fresh. The chicken satay...uhm uhm uhm. I don't normally eat the peanut sauce but it was good!!! There was a cucumber sauce that I have to find the recipe for!!! I ordered the chicken drunken noodles - medium. It was very good .. next time, I go mild though. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy but I'm spicy enough myself (wink, wink)!! Lastly, we had egg fried rice and potstickers. Once again...delicious!! Good new Thai option for Hull St/Moseley. We tried Capital Thai for dinner on a Friday night, arrived at 6 when they were sparsely busy and by 7 every table was taken. Happy to see a new restaurant get so much attention. We ordered the Summer Spring Rolls and Calamari to start, Drunken Noodles, Massaman Curry, and Capital Yummm Noodles. The staff has two gentlemen working the dining room and running their butts off. Very friendly and doing a good job, though they are quite outmatched and could use an extra hand (I don't expect any of this for some time as the place is within its first month or two of being in operation). The food is of course made to order and takes a few extra minutes to arrive but I still remain pleased with the service as they are just getting their feet wet. Our food from start to finish was good, not great though overall we left happy with out experience and are glad we gave Capital Thai a shot. I plan to keep my ear to the street and hear how they progress over the upcoming months and may venture a second trip in later on. For now, they're working hard and doing fine, though no complaints I also don't have anything stellar to report from our first visit either. read more

But based on our experience- the food was good and the staff was attentive! Their other restaurant is Bangkok Thai. We loved Capital Thai! We stopped in on a Sunday for an early dinner, and by the time we left it was filling up. The decor is fresh and clean. The service was excellent throughout our meal. We ordered Money Bags (wonton stuffed with chicken and veggies, tied & fried) and Vegetable Tempura. Each appetizer was very good. I ordered the Chicken with Basil, onions and peppers ( $15.95) and my husband enjoyed Beef with mixed vegetables and a peanut sauce/ brown sauce. ( About the same price.) Each came with a generous plate of rice. The dishes were excellent! We will return soon and we're happy to recommend to friends! Pad Seew is my all time favorite dish and I'm very picky with how I prefer for it to be made. This restaurant made it perfectly! Big chewy noodles, perfect ratio of meat to noodle to veggies, and perfect seasoning without all the extra sugar. Driving through Richmond and stopped in, and I'm glad I did. I will be stopping by the next time I'm in town! I can't stress it enough, this was the perfect Pad Seew. If you're ever in Chesterfield, VA stop in and order this dish. Visited the recently opened Capital Thai recently and enjoyed the meal. The prices aren't bad as we went for dinner. The meal that I got was delicious - Capital Yumm Noodles Chicken - I got it medium spicy and it was very good. The girls ate Pad Thai Chicken/Beef - it was good but not the taste they were expecting (they wanted more spice), and these dishes didn't have it. My daughter & her friend enjoyed their Curry Puffs and Shrimp Tempura. My wife got the Pot Stickers (very good and I'll purchase them again) as an appetizer and the Lettuce Wraps and she stated they had a very good taste. They would have gotten a 5 Star if the taste of the Pad Thai (2 orders same taste chicken/beef) had been more flavor. I did take the Pad Thai Chicken home and warmed it up the next day adding additional flavor to them - this helped. I actually don't want you to go here. It's always easy to get a table, the food is delicious, the staff is nice.

Went in on 07/27/22. Place is nice and clean. Food was average at best. Very disappointed in a bowl of wonton soup that I ordered for $6.95. The bowl came out only half full with broth. I thought maybe they had given me the lunch portion, or a cup portion of soup, however the server verified the $6.95 price on the soup I had in front of me. A female who is possibly the owner or manager came over a few seconds later and advised that the half full bowl is the norm. She then went back to the kitchen for a few minutes, and when she came back to the table she stated that the cook did say that they had given me a smaller portion of soup, but didn't give a reason why. The manager/owner then had the nerve to ask if I wanted her to bring out more broth. Didn't offer any other resolution like remaking, apologizing for shorting me, or taking it off my ticket. Our entrees came out and they were ok at best. Before leaving I spoke to above listed lady and told her they should advertise as half bowl or cup, and told her we wouldn't be coming back. She said ok, offered no apology, and we left. read more

The customer service is awful. We tried to do a to go order over the phone and were yelled at when they were out of a menu item - like it was our fault. I mean literally yelled at , like my daughter was ordering and I could here the woman yelling through the phone (it was not on speaker). Then went to the restaurant and the woman was still rude. There was "no manager" to talk to about her. No apology no nothing and was still yelling at us when I explained that I could here her scream at my daughter through the phone. I love Thaï food but not eating here again. I looked at the comments and apparently we are not the only ones that she is rude to - so not a "one bad night" situation. We ordered takeout for the first time. We ordered the wonton soup which was $6.95. I assumed at this price, it would be a quart. It was in a pint size container & only half full. Great taste, but the quantity did not match the price. My daughter got the Drunken Noodles with chicken; mild. It was very flavorful & the portion was generous; leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I got the Capital Yummm Noodles with chicken; mild. Again, very flavorful& generous portion. The crispy fried wonton was crispy noodles, but no longer crispy because they were packaged with the hot meal instead of being wrapped separately. It did come with the bean sprouts & little to no scallions . We agreed we would like to try this place again, but dine in. We will even try again with takeout, but will try some different items that may transport better. read more
