We thought we'd give Blvd Grill a shot. I would categorize Blvd Grill as a sports bar, as there was a row of TVs above and around the bar showing the games of local interest (Jets and Bills games). My wife and I aren't big sports fans, and we sat at a small casual table along the wall for dinner. The bar area, including high top tables was very busy with people obviously enjoying themselves, but there were plenty of available small dining tables for 2-6 people. TL;DR We were pleasantly surprised. In spite of the casual appearance, the food and drink were excellent. My wife ordered a glass of Riesling, which was semi-dry (I would actually peg right in the middle between dry and sweet) and was very smooth without that slight bite some Rieslings can have. I ordered a Blue Moon on tap. They had a small number of basic and IPA brews available. Not a large, but a reasonable selection. For dinner my wife ordered the Chicken French, which is one of her favorite dishes. She cooks this dish herself frequently, and is quite critical of how this dish is prepared when we go out. In this case, she was very pleased with it. I ordered a pesto cod dish that was on the menu. I found the cod tender and the dish overall very tasty without being overdone in flavor or cooking. As others have mentioned, the food isn't cheap, although on this particular night they were selling wings at $1/ea, but we didn't order wings. The main courses were in the $20-$30 range. Honestly, though, we've eaten at some higher end restaurants recently and Blvd Grill had them beat in terms of food quality in this case. The service was good. Our waitress was a young lady who was courteous and efficient. Maybe the food and service quality vary depending on the day or night, but based on our single experience, we'd definitely visit Blvd Grill again.

We like to sample wines by the flight so we can drive up to Georgetown liquor and get a bottle. None of these were even close to prompting a visit there. For food we had a peach, tomato, quinoa, goat, and kale salad. We also had a cheese flight and I had the spicy meatballs. Expensive and very small portions. My meatball app was $15 and was 1 and 1/2 small meatballs doused in Frank's with a squirt of blue cheese. It was spicy as advertised but meager. Cheese flight was ok, but also $13 for not a lot. Spoiler alert: if their menu says 'shareable', it's not, unless one of you (or both) are fasting. Service was adequate and we got to enjoy the live music entertainment sound check (we got there before the actual performance). Guy banging on the percussion box: yes, it's way too loud for the tiny space. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. It made me feel like we were being pushed out. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. They also have drink coolers available with a wide variety to choose from. The woman who took our order was very nice. The ordering process was quick and simple. Sandwiches were ready within 10 minutes. Absolutely loved my sub! I ordered a large vodka parmesan sub with house made pesto drizzle. I enjoyed the crusty bread and sauce flavors. My husband ordered a cold sub and was happy with how stacked it was. He also said the house made Italian dressing was delicious. The sandwich was perfect and I can see Capone's being my new sub go to. The sub was around 19 with tax which is a little pricey to me, but the quality was excellent. I was interested in pizza but didn't like seeing the pizza slices just sitting out in the open. They are not covered or in any type of casing.
