Bow tie Pasta, Peas & ricotta with a bread crumb topping.

We made reservations earlier in the week for Saturday night @6:30. Neither of us have ever been Perlo's before so we were both curious about the restaurant. We went in and immediately you are at the hostess station and we checked in, we reserved a round table as we were waiting for the other 4 people in our group. The hostess sat us at our table like immediately and had the menus & specials of the day already on the table. The waitress came shortly thereafter and took our drink orders. And we waited for about 15 minutes for the rest of our party to show up. The waitress came back and took our appetizer orders and the drink orders for the table. The waitress was nice and knowledgeable she was busy so there wasn't much time for her to exchange pleasantries. The table that we sat at was in the corner right by the kitchen and it was darker there than in the rest of the dining area and the AC was on and I was freezing. However once I started eating & drinking I warmed up. Overall it was a nice establishment and a change from the norm. Then about 15 or so minutes later the waitress came back with our appetizers which were artichokes French & Calamari the artichokes French was really good and the 2 baskets of rolls that were complimentary to the table were delicious and served hot cuz the butter wasn't soft. The waitress then took our food orders and it took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive and when it did it was hot and delicious. I ordered the bow tie pasta, Ricotta and peas and in my opinion it was delicious my BF got the Fra Diavolo to which he thought was really good too the rest of our dining party was happy with their dinners as well. Then we got dessert for the table I got the chocolate cake and my BF got the cheesecake with the pecans both were delicious and then after we were finished with our meal and about to leave Donna Perlo came over to our table and spoke to my BF for a moment. That was nice gesture on her part so all in all a great night was had by the 4 of us. I'd definitely go back there again.

If you're looking for nice Italian food with a home cooked, feel give, Perlo's a try We had a delightful waitress, who was very knowledgeable, and made some great recommendations. We loved the pasta dishes the best and the pizza the least.

While visiting Rochester last week, our friends chose an Italian restaurant knowing Italian food is pretty much our favorite. We've never been to Perlo's on our previous visits. We won't make that mistake again. The menu is extensive with virtually every dish named after someone. (I believe the dishes are named after customers but I forgot to ask). It took me more time than usual to choose that perfect entrée' as everything on the menu looked so fantastic. I was also easily distracted watching waiters bring out dishes to other tables as well. My final choice (and our friend's as well) was Chicken Marsala. Chicken, mushrooms and artichokes along with the wonderful Marsala wine made this dish perfect. My wife enjoyed her lasagna as well commenting on the amazing sauce and flavors. Our friend's wife ordered Linguine and Clams. Soup or salad along with fresh baked bread was also served. Service was flawless. I mean really flawless. We never wanted for anything. I was reminded of dining in Europe where being a waiter in a fine restaurant is a profession rather than "just a job". Our waiter had that aura of professionalism. A great evening of food and friends!

Good. The Peppered Pig has grown and evolved wonderfully since then. As we approached, it seemed we might have a problem finding a parking spot. Luckily, I had a choice of three. In addition to a larger menu, kitchen crew and wait staff have increased, as well. Except for Chef/owner Chris and restaurant manager Nikki, I didn't meet any of the kitchen team. All other staff, including our server, Soula, were courteous, friendly, and appeared happy in their work. This happiness factor is so rare in service positions (stores and restaurants) that I had to mention it. Down to the most important: I had The Pig Burger. Pig Burger: 8oz beef patty seared in duck fat, tarragon aioli, bacon, brie, field mix, and tomato jam on sourdough toast. This was exceptional. I'd requested medium well . . . and this was the first time anywhere that the burger was exactly medium well. Delicious? I'm back home, 5 blocks from Buffalo City Hall, but I'd go back tonight for another, if they were open. Well, I'd want to. Then again, there were so many wonderful items on the menu, I'll probably try something different before I would have the Pig Burger again. And excellent coffee. Technically, The Peppered Pig is located in Webster, NY, but the western edge ... the northeastern edge of Rochester, NY. If you go because of anything I've written, please tell Chris and Nikki Betsy says hello. I have one last recomendation for this culinary jewel: Go.

It had Peppadew cream spread, Arugula, and the beef was super tender. The bread crusty on the outside and soft on inside. It also came with fries. You could tell the fries are hand done, and fresh. I enjoyed it very much, and highly recommend it. My BF had the burger, he said it was really good. He enjoyed his meal too, very much. I always loved how cute it looked from the outside, and it is just as cute on the inside. Dress is casual, at least during lunch. I loved all the personal touches. Our waitress was on point, stress free, even though it was pretty busy for one server. I was impressed. It is bigger than I thought. The bar is when you walk in. Then they have a smaller dining area to the right, and a larger one to the left. It looks like they use the larger one for dining. It was a very smart set up. Decorated really well. French Farmhouse feel, in busy city. They did a great job. The little pig decorations, and how they transitioned the pig to their menu. We will definitely be going back. I saw so many different items I wanted to try. But today we kept it simple, due to time constraints. I just wish we had more time to enjoy it. But we will be back for dinner.

Each course was perfect and service from Russell was attentive and leisurely. The steak was charred outside and medium rare throughout. Recommended by our server, it was dry aged and delicious as promised. It was sliced in the kitchen for ease of sharing and we even had a couple of slices to take home. Some au poivre sauce was gladly provided to go. A great meal. Just a suggestion for Yelpers, if you are dining during daylight, make a reservation far in advance requesting a table towards the back of the restaurant. The glare from the front window can spoil the atmosphere! I've added a photo of the menu on the photo page since it's hard to find online.. most everything is shareable.

We had a later reservation, since it was last minute and on a Saturday night. They were pretty busy, but we found a parking spot and was seated right away. Thea was our server, and the team here was exactly the same as it was in August. Super friendly, professional, and helpful when it came to understanding the menu and specials for the night. We started with a cocktail each, while choosing to get one appetizer (pork belly, which I highly recommended) to share before we went right into dinner. It was perfect. The smoked grits and microgreens complemented the pork belly, and it was basically mowed down by mostly me, HA! My sister in law got a steak, my brother went with the pork chop, and I had the Steak Frites. We had three sides, mac and cheese (I insisted based on the last visit), asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Incredible execution! When our entrees were ordered, we asked to speak to someone about a wine recommendation. Chris the GM came over, and he did remember me coming by earlier in the summer which was a surprise and really cool to have happen. I told him that I LOVED it here, having left in 2000 I never got to know Max's until 2025! We almost ate everything, but still had leftovers to be able to take home for another time. My thanks to the group here, from Thea, Chris, and front of house, and to the team in the back of the house, for excellent execution and an enjoyable evening out to treat my family. The ratio of chips to dip looked off but it was perfect. Personally, I thought the dip was under seasoned and light on the trout. The Chef came to our table to discuss his cuisine and we both left with our own opinions intact. The Featured - Friday Fish was the best Bouillabaisse I have tasted in years. It was the Friday Special and it was indeed special. The Bourbon Apple Crisp was to die for. If I had known, it was so good we would have ordered two portions instead of splitting one.
