5 days old and you can still tell it was a really good bald fade! Annie is a LEGEND
    Deon A.

I just moved to DC from California, got my first haircut here and I'm hooked! Annie hooked me up with CLEAN bald fade, I'm Black and Filipino so I have a specific texture that not everyone cuts correctly, but Annie DELIVERED! Finished with a razor shave on my neck for a extra bald fade (my favorite), clean tools (no redness bumps or irritation) and topped it off with a hot towel. I left feeling like a new man! This shop is UNDERRATED and super affordable! ***late post, got my hair cut 5 days ago, but I had to give em their props! Haircut STILL looks good almost a week later!

Reference sunburst fade I showed #1

Are you a female that shaves her head or has a style that you use fades with? Then you know how uncomfortable it can be walking into many barber shops to get your fade. Most shops will specifically say in their advertising ..."gentleman's cuts." So it can be a touch uncomfy walking into a new shop for your first time bc you don't know how they'll react. I've shaved my head many times in my twenties but recently decided to lop off all my curls again. Right bf Xmas I shaved it all off. I needed a touch up for my fade because that is usually what my 2-3 week maintenance calls for. I walked in a little after 10:30am on a Tuesday and this plays STAYED busy, y'all. There were 2 people getting their hair cut and while I was sitting 3 more walked in. There were 3 barbers hard at work. Now--i'll admit, when I walked in I definitely got stares ... Like...is this a female ....? Haha. But after the initially syaring--they got down to business. Which, I was grateful for. I hung up my coat and scarf and grabbed a seat to wait. I wasn't sitting for longer than 2 min before someone told me to hop in a seat. I attached the two reference photos I showed for what I wanted. In essence I wanted a low sunburst fade. I like a bald fade when I get a fade. I didn't at ALL get what I asked for, lol...like not even a little. You can take a gander at my reference photos and what I ultimately got to see what I mean. But I wasn't madt at all. I just sort of took it in stride and just realized that this wasn't going to be the shop to execute my ideal look. I'm also WILDLY surprised bc never have I ever not gotten a razor clean up at the end of a barber shop visit. I had to go home to clean myself up with a razor. Just because a woman is getting a fade, doesn't mean she shouldn't also get the same services that the men also pay for, you know? I didn't have a bad experience AT ALL. These folks are kind, professional and good humans. The shop is small and clean. And they have a good flow of steady and loyal clientele. People walked in, and it was CLEAR they not only remember them, but also what they wanted. I did observed the cuts walking out and you're definitely not going to get the really sharp, suave fades that a more specialized shop will crack out, but what you will get is a super affordable, clean, and basic clean up. Another point of contention for me--is.that they charged me $30 for my cut. Their Yelp page says they charge $25 for a ladies cut and I definitely didn't get anything fancy--as you can see from my photo. So I'm confused why they charged me $30--unless their prices have recently changed (which in this economic climate, makes perfect sense--i support a raise in prices!) I also noticed that their display window of price listings was blank. It'd be helpful to have that updated as well. So, here's what I think. I'll definitely go elsewhere to get the more tailored, sleeker designs I'm looking for, but I 100% wouldn't hesitate to come here for a quick clean up. And next time, I'll make sure to speak up and ask for the razor clean up at the end so I don't have to haphazardly attempt it on my own at home!

Antonio is an experienced, highly skilled, and very precise barber who is equally adept at haircuts, beard trims and shaves. Antonio Botticella is a very welcoming barber: those who enter his studio are warmly greeted and offered refreshment before the service begins. Antonio pays attention to what his clients want and he delivers. Antonio specializes in short cuts in a variety of styles, both classic and modern. Antonio is also a great conversationalist and raconteur: ask him to tell you one of his stories. Antonio's studio is located in the Farragut North area of downtown Washington DC and for a higher price he will travel to his client's local home or office for services: he knows that in this town some VIPs don't have the time to dash out for an appointment. Antonio is in high demand, so I recommend scheduling appointments with him as far in advance as possible. Antonio Botticella may be pricey ($100 for a barbershop haircut; $250 for a mobile haircut) but he's well worth the money spent. You'll leave Antonio impressed. It was the worst experience for me at a salon/barber shop much less the price is outrageous and absolutely doesn't match the skill level of cuts or customer service. $90 a hair cut for a men's cut. For a great cut and experience it could be worth it, I thought. Men deserve to be pampered and given the location, I could see why it would be expensive. This is a case of expensive is not always better. I am writing my own review after months of thinking about it because I don't like writing negative reviews. I don't want anyone else to feel the way I did and think it's just them or have the experience I did. I can pay a $35 barber and be able to tip them 50% with them feeling happy and it's still less expensive than this place. I drove 45 minutes thinking it would be worth it. I wasted my time and more importantly, I felt so badly and paid so much ruining a milestone moment. I am not a rich person, it was hard to spend that but I wanted my kid to have a good first adult cut experience. I thought it would be a nice place for a milestone moment. They canceled the first appointment saying stylist was sick. No problem. Self care is important and who wants sick germs at a haircut. I showed up for the rescheduled appointment and they were late. No problem either we had time and we were also a little late. Since it's our first time, a consult was needed with the cut and as we were unclear what we wanted. That is the purpose of a consult, to talk about ideas. A first appointment should build that into the time. I thought my stylist/barber was nice but when we got home, we realized the cut was uneven and it was still a bit too long in places. I do take responsibility that my kid and I were indecisive about what to ask for but, we were just learning how to ask for what we wanted. It take a few times with a new person sometimes. I called back to ask them IF they would fix it. I wasn't mad. I asked nicely. They blamed us for the barber going long and so was late. They, said they would fix it but, it would be our last appointment there. I've been at my own stylist over 20 years, a high end full service salon. Always great service. I just wanted more of a men's focussed place. This place was beyond disappointing. I refused to go back for the fix feeling so awful. We went to the local barber and fixed it for $35. Reception also felt fake nice. They don't really seem to want or need new business. I wasn't even mad when I called for the fix. In my experience that's normal sometimes as a customer and service provider myself. It really feels like you're paying for the location, and cost of running their business not the actual cut or skill level of stylist. More expansive is not always better. My lesson learned. Go on Google and read the more current reviews. I hope my experience was just an outlier, not the norm.

But let me tell you, the first guy took 45 min, second guy was 75 min in and still going by the time I left. The first barber (light-skinned latino) took 45 min, worked hard and did an excellent job on an older man. Honestly, while I waited and saw him work, I wanted my cut with him. Unfortunately he left to go inside their building and was replaced by this young black haired latino. He was working on this guy who walked in with a Phil Foden cut and 75 min in, largely unchanged but with a clean trim on the sides. (There was hardly any hair on the ground ) One reason his cut was taking so long was this barber was too busy live-streaming on his phone, occasionally looking at peoples' comments. It also didn't help he was cutting at a snail's pace. It's one thing to be attentive to detail (something the first barber was good at). It's another to just go hair by hair. Bad for business, wasting peoples' time, so much that I don't feel like stopping by the actual shop. Hope the business sees this and if they do, please let me know the name of that guy. If I ever do stop by, I'd like to avoid him at all cost.
