I've used this florist for years to get flowers for my mom who lives in Olympia. (I live outside the state now). They have been really good in the past but this year for Valentine's Day, they gave flowers that died in two days. Oddly they have not picked up the phone despite numerous calls and I've had to leave a message. My mom dropped the flowers off to let them know, but the place looked empty like they were going out of business. She told me to try to get my money back. Since I don't live there, I can't see for myself, but it seems this place has taken a downhill turn Edit: the florist called my mother and me back and was very apologetic about the flowers from Valentines day. It sounds like they've had a hard time since the pandemic and were very busy this year. She agreed that the flowers were not up to her standards, and did give me a refund. Because of her responsiveness and sincere apology, I have edited my review and changed my rating from one to three stars. read more

He got an absolutely stunning array of flowers in a large, yet tasteful, modest (dare I say "manly?") array of colors and textures. As I walked into the store, it didn't seem like there was much of a selection but after speaking with the florist and walking around, we were able to put together a fairly large bouquet of flowers for my first grade God daughter's school performance. The florist was friendly and was able to put this together quickly. I wish the presentation of plastic wrap and tissue paper was a little better, but it wasn't bad, especially for the price. read more

I stopped by on Wednesday to order a casual centerpiece for my Easter table and, alas, a post it note on the door read "be back soon". Came back half an hour later and still, no luck. While waiting I read Yelp reviews, and fantasized that the saintly proprietor was making a last minute delivery for some type of floral emergency (yes, they do exist). When I returned on Friday they were very gracious in taking my last minute order and it was gorgeous. Parrot tulips, spray roses, Gerbera daisies, freesia, larkspur, and ranunculus. I was really bummed by my experience at Capitol Florist. I called ahead to order my daughter's wrist corsage for her father daughter dance and was asked what colors she was wearing. I told them (winter blue). The gal was very nice and I was sure I had made the right decision shopping local instead of going with a big box store for cheaper. My husband picked the corsage up. I didn't have a chance to look at it until we got it out of the fridge to have our daughter put it on. I was extremely disappointed. It was a beautiful flower but it had a simple lightweight "peach colored" ribbon. There was no elastic band attached and the color was nothing close to winter blue. My husband told me that the lady he picked it up from told him to just tie it on her wrist, as elastic breaks ( I have never encountered a problem with elastic band corsages in all of my life). We took a lot of time trying to tie the ribbon to keep the corsage in place but we were not able to get it secure. My husband said it flopped around so much that she took it off at the dance. What a waste of 20.00, for what was supposed to be a very special touch for special night. I called that same day and left a message expressing my frustration but never even received the courtesy of a call back. I am really frustrated by their lack of concern and failure to provide what we asked. Won't be using again. read more

I called Capitol Florist from Houston to deliver flowers to a friend in Olympia after she hosted me in her home. As we spoke on the phone, I explained that we are both charity cosplayers who dress as Wonder Woman to support children's charities. I asked them to use red, gold, and blue flowers to match our favorite superhero. On top of beautiful flowers and a stunning cobalt blue vase, they incorporated Wonder Woman's golden lasso into the arrangement. It is absolutely stunning and perfect for Amazon of Olympia! Everyone I asked seemed to think that this was the best florist in the Olympia area, so naturally I decided to check them out for my wedding last fall. I really know very little about flowers, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into the store. This florist seems to be more about ordering in what you want rather than having a ton of flowers on hand, which was just fine because I didn't need to leave with anything that day. The shop smells great and the atmosphere is very restful. It reminded me of a sheltered patio in the tropics somewhere. Both of the people I worked with for my wedding order were great, and I was able to do most of the planning and ordering by email, which worked well for my schedule. I don't know if it's because I had such a small order (just the bridal bouquet and groom's boutonniere) but they didn't even require me to put down a deposit which I found surprising. I don't really think of myself as a 'flowers' type of person, but I was absolutely floored by the bouquet and bout I received. I had only given them a vague idea of what I wanted (fall theme), with a general color scheme (orange) and one specific request (brown fern curls). What they made was absolutely gorgeous. They really got creative and created the perfect bouquet based on what I had asked for. These folks really know what they're doing and if I had to do it all again I wouldn't change a thing. read more

I called when they first opened to send flowers to my girl friend today. Cynthia the lady that took the order assured me they would be delivered by noon. At 3pm when I had not heard from my girl friend I called the florist to find out if they had indeed been delivered. Cynthia at the floral shop said she would call the delivery driver to see if they had been delivered yet. After 20 min waiting for a call back I again called the shop and Cynthia said she could not get ahold of her driver . I cancelled the order because the arrangement of roses didn't make it as promised. This shop was not good with making it on-time making their own promised dead line. read more

I love capitol florist... Here lies the finest floristry shop in all of Oly... The shop is clean and smells awesome. It's got a great feel. Cynthia uses really fresh flowers. Her designs are original while always catering to what is requested. And she's one of the nicest business owners in all of downtown. Always a beautiful smile when you walk thru the door... that is so important. I give 4 stars b/c the times I've used their services they're often out of something I request... But they always substitute something great... I ordered an amazing tropical piece for my grammie's 90th birthday and she made it sooooo beautiful! Exactly what we'd had in mind! My ordering experience was just like talking to an old friend. I felt like Cynthia really got to the heart of the sentiments I wanted to send, and did a lovely job making sure that all my love, passion, and happy birthday wishes appeared at our house in floral form without breaking my bank. I had a few specific requests for things they were out of - but that is really my fault for not planning in advance & ordering earlier. I called Capitol florist, Monday morning, requesting an arrangement for a memorial service, and the flowers had to be at the location in 2 hours. The person on the other side of the phone just asked for a price range, location of delivery, and if I had anything specific in mind. The flowers were at the location in less than two hours, and the arrangement was so beautiful it was used as the center piece for the service. My husband sent me an arrangement of flowers for our 29th Anniversary. It was lovely, romantic looking and the flowers stayed nice looking for almost a week. I don't know who did the arrangement, but I liked the fact that instead of doing a standard (easy) of just putting together roses, baby's breath and greenry - the arrangement was indeed RED....but was a combination of 3 or 4 different flowers and no filler baby's breath in sight. The last flower arrangement he sent me was roses from Rainbow Florist on Pacific Ave. The flowers must have gotten frost bitten or something. They never opened, and with less than 24 hrs. the flower bud was drooped over. I took the arrangement back to Rainbow and they were not apologetic or anything. Simply shrugged their shoulders and told me to pick out a ready-to-go arrangement from their refrigerated case. read more

Cynthia is by far the best florist in town. Her designs are creative and unique and always fresh and high quality. I always go to her when I want to give flowers. I do not usually make special requests, I like to let her use her creative license and I am always impressed. I recently purchased flowers from a 1-800 site because I was afraid I was too late to place an order locally and was very disappointed with the quality of service and product that I received. I called Cynthia and told her the story and she was immediately able to help me with a replacement bouquet to make up for the huge mistake I made. She was polite, professional and FAST.
