I ordered a light fixture online 4-weeks ago with an estimated shipping date of 5-7 business days. 2-weeks later there was no light fixture in sight, so I called and they said it would ship at "either the end of this week or the end of next week" (they couldn't be more specific than that). Their website is professional, inviting, and well organized, helping me to find exactly what I wanted. It was obvious to me that I would be able to trust this company with my purchase. What impressed me the most, in addition to reasonably priced products and the ease and accessibility of their website, was their customer service is beyond great. From days gone by, years since any company has treated its customers with such care. I received not only confirmation emails, but personal emails from Jane Miles offering me additional discounts, checking to see if I needed any bulbs for my lamp, and offered me her cell if I had any questions or concerns. I sent a thank you reply, and she took it one step further and we started on a road of a nice relationship -- I have since ordered more product as a result and feel I have a true friend with Capitol Lighting. Horrible customer service and they do not accept returns on replacement parts. I ordered an extra chain for our chandelier to find we did not need it, and they would not accept the return! I got charged twice for a same order on 5/21 and 5/27. Called customer service and the experience was even worse! On top of being rude, they denied the double charge! They are claiming that the first charge on 5/21 was declined so they charged my card again on 5/27. I explained that it was not true as I had enough funds to cover for the purchase. Also the double charges appear on my bank statement, but that was not enough for them, instead they wanted me to send them proof of the two charges when they could easily double checked the charges on my credit card. We came to Capitol lighting to find some pending lights that we needed for our restaurant renovation. The day we came in our sales lady Sheryl looked in discomfort when taking care of us and almost made us feel like we were rushed out of the place or just not wanted there. We got the lights and one of them came in dented. I called Capitol lighting and asked to speak to her, while the phone was communicated to her I heard her say UGHHHHHH as if she did not want to deal with me or just not want to help out. I kindly told her what was going on and said she'd order another one, did not give me further details as to what I should do with the other light or when it would come in so I had to ask her myself. I had not finished talking and she completely cut me off and hung up. I re dialed again and she apologized but I just feel very dissatisfied with the kind of service I got from this place since day 1. read more

Three stars at best. Sales representative promised a delivery date the week after the order so that I could schedule an electrician to install it. Confirmation the week after the order had a delivery date two days later. It never occurred and I waited two more day and then called the sales representative multiple times to try to get an update. It is now the next week and still have not had the courtesy of a reply. Will not recommend that anyone use them. read more

Made the mistake of purchasing a product online from Capitol Lighting. Spent an insane amount of time trying to speak with someone to facilitate my return. I was spiraled into an endless loop of recordings that ended in the call being disconnected or going to a voice mailbox that was full. The chat option was equally as bad. When I finally spoke with a human being then I was given the run around or treated very rudely. I cannot recommend buying online with them due to the exceptionally poor customer service. read more

Today was the second time I have done a return at this Capitol Lighting location. I will do everything I can not to return to this store. The representative was so rude and unprofessional. This is the second encounter I have had with a rude customer service rep. I will not return. I was returning a very large box so I parked in the first space by the door (not handicap), when entering and explaining to the rep what I had in my trunk, she so rudely told me to park at the loading doc which was literally The next spot over from me. I asked if my spot would suffice and she rudely interrupted "nope park at the loading doc." I moved my car as asked. When I returned inside to take care of the paperwork, she continued with her rude attitude asking for my receipt, to which I replied that I didn't have that but I have an invoice with the order number. Luckily that worked. I told her "perhaps she would be so kind to help look up this order number." Find people that are actually nice for customer service, not ones that can't be bothered. read more

Spoke to a woman at the small desk, I do not think she read the information on the computer correctly and could not help me. I left frustrated and was going to contact the Schonbek NY company, but the next day I thought I would contact the store again and maybe someone else would be able to help.
