Long story short, somehow my wife and me have never been able to agree on chandeliers or larger pendant lights. She prefers modern and I classic. This review is a tad bit late... 8 years late haha! My wife and her family have been coming here for all their lighting needs for years! We came here a few years ago to do our major purchases for our apartment. We got 4 fixtures and 1 beautiful giant 12 piece chandelier! They have a huge showroom, with a ton of lighting options on display. Many of the ones that they have on display scale up or down. So if you see a design that you like, most likely they can get a larger one or a smaller one to suit your needs. Staff was very friendly and very helpful! They were able to answer all out questions no issue. They also provide installation services, but we wanted to do it ourselves. We came back a few weeks later because the bulbs that came with our chandelier were too big for the room and they replaced them with lower ones without question. A few years later, we moved rooms in our apartment and while taking the chandelier down, we broke one of its arms. They were able to order us a replacement likety split! All in all, it was a wonderful experience. Amazing selection, amazing service! 100% go here. read more

We just had a great experience at Capitol Lighting in East Hanover. We chose many lights for various rooms in our new home. Summer T. was soooooo helpful and couldn't have been nicer. She was friendly, gave us suggestions and even emailed me to confirm that we were aware of the maximum wattage on our outdoor lights to make sure that they would be bright enough for where we are putting them. The day that we were, the store was closing at 6:00pm, and Summer happily stayed late to help us complete our transaction, even though everyone else was leaving around us. She was pleasant the whole time, and we didn't feel rushed. The prices of the lights were competitive and a good value. Absolutely horrible customer service experience. Selling a defective item and not giving money back to their client is fraudulent and is an unprofessional business model. I do not recommend anyone purchasing items from this company. I received a damaged product and immediately contacted the customer service, Ty, to get it replaced or get a refund. 4 weeks later, I finally get an update from Ty that I should be shipping back the item using a shipping label which he claims he sent three times, which I never received...3 Customer representatives let me know I will get an email confirmation of the status after 24hours, none of which I've received... At this point, I'm not sure if I will get my money back and it's a very disappointing process for a very simple request - a refund for a defective product which they sold. read more

This review is for the quality of the customer service, which is non-existent. I ordered a light fixture, which I had professionally installed about 3 weeks after receipt. Unfortunately, the light fixture was defective. I called and spoke to Ida, who appeared very cooperative during that initial call. I followed her instructions to contact the manufacturer. But, after 3 voicemail messages to Ida, I have received no response. I love the fixture I purchased, but I want to exchange for another fixture that is not defective. I do not want a refund. I am not a design professional and I took a chance in ordering from this company. I placed another order more than 30 days ago that has not yet shipped, and I have sent 2 emails requesting cancellation of the order. It is no surprise that I have not received any response. Given the lack of responsiveness, I would advise to avoid this company. read more

And if you're able to take your eyes off of those things, you'll notice the price tags that are priced so well that you'll faint in disbelief; that's when one of the employees will swoop in. Customer service is extremely important to me: a customer service experience can make or break a store. David is the kind of employee who brings me back to a business time and time again. David is outstanding and goes above and beyond every during every visit. He is kind, cheerful, and works hard. After setting me up with a new chandelier, he promptly scheduled an electrician for installation, and then proceeded to sell me other items that captured my heart (i.e. painting, mirror). Dane is also fantastic. He is so friendly and thorough through the process of check-out/receiving your purchase. He made sure my chandelier was safely packaged and transported to my car and securely wrapped my framed painting to protect it on the journey home. I am so impressed with Capitol Lighting and recommend it to anyone I know looking for beautiful pieces for their home. I can't wait for my next visit to this shining, shimmering splendor. read more

Since we are very familiar to the area, we decided to take the 35 minutes drive from home to come to this particular location to pick some light. One of the worst places for customer service ever.
