We were building a new home and went to Capital Lighting in East Hanover, NJ because we wanted to keep our business "local". Initially, they were helpful and we selected a total of 12 Fans. What they did not tell us was that 10 of the 12 Fans were not in stock. They charged our credit card and 21 days later we still had not heard from them. Only after we called and made an issue, did they tell us that most of the fans were back ordered. Over 3 weeks later they told us that!! Are you kidding??? The manager then told us he could get them within 24 hours. That too was false. This company may have been around a long time, but their professionalism and Customer Service is Poor. Our entire electrical inspection was held up over two weeks because of Capital Lighting. That held up our CO. Why didn't they tell us the truth in the beginning? Why did they charge our credit card before we had the products? Why all the deception? Next time we'll do our research and hopefully not get burned. read more

This place is awful. The associates aren't friendly, with exception of Dave but he's not reliable. Placed an order an was told if would arrive in a week. A week goes by and I nothing. I call to follow up over the weekend and they tell me there are no notes on the order but they'll let me know Monday. Another week goes by and nothing- no call or package. I call again and I'm told it's back ordered for four months. They then offer me a discount on the floor model. I ask them to check to see if it works well. Dave claims they checked and it's great. I go to pick it up and their floor model wasn't good. Then there's some more confusion. I eventually left with a light fixture but this was just stressful. read more

A great experience from start to finish! The showroom is beautifully laid out and they have some gorgeous lighting...but, I worked with Hubert and purchased a light for our 2nd bathroom. I bought a Kovacks P5046-L LED light and installation was a snap and the LED lighting is bright and clean and got rave reviews from my wife. Overall, service was very good, item was in stock (confirmed on the website 1800lighting.com before going in) and I will be back. read more

I just wanted to update my review. Since leaving the original review, we did hear from two different managers at the company. Both were very nice and explained the reason for the delay. They said someone would keep us posted on the status and discuss options if the manufacturer delayed the item again. As promised we received followup calls throughout the process, and later received a call from the store letting us know our item shipped and providing tracking information. I am very thankful for the quality of service we received after leaving voicemail for management and posting the original yelp review. All members of management that we dealt with have been amazing. I can only assume that the original problem was the employees we were dealing with never forwarded our issues to management and that is why we were left frustrated and upset. Came in on short notice and was looking for a unique lamp. It did not take us but 10 min and we asked if they could hook it up and put in a light bulb. Within five min the sales representative had the light in and showed it to us. We decided to buy it on the spot. They honored the price on the ticket vs. what their website showed it as and being delivered for free. Could not of asked for a more seamless transaction. read more

Don't buy from this place please. I bought a $2,750 ceiling light and after 13 months the light is defected, 2 of the metal wire was broke and fall, half is still hanging on the ceiling. Try to contact them for help with order parts and look like they don't want to help because of little thing like this. And they told me to call direct to the factory to order and i did, but the factory said they don't sale for individual customers, i have to order thru the company that bought from and i got back to them and asked for their help but no one answered. I visited Capital Lighting on Saturday afternoon. I met with David Angelo and he showed me the lighting fixtures I was interested in . He provided me with exceptional service, told me the Items i was interest in were available in stock. He ordered them from the wear house, handed me a paper to pay for the Items I needed. I went to the cashier, paid then met with the wear house man and presented him with the paper he retrieved my Items and he was kind enough to carry them out to the car, I thanked him and was on my way. the entire transaction took about a half an hour. I call this fabulous customer service., much better than going into the big box stores. read more

This is a company that should be avoided at all costs. They do not take returns, even when the products they sell do not meet the specifications listed. Their "customer service staff" only refers you to hidden legal statements if they respond at all. read more

I bought two identical light fixtures from their online order center, 1800Lighting.com. They were shipped separately by FedEx. One was delivered when expected, but FedEx sent me an email notice that the second package was damaged in transit and was being returned to the sender. Over the next 10 days, I sent an email to customer service, called them and left a voice message, and called and left a call-back number, each time asking them to confirm that the damaged package was being returned and that a replacement item would be sent. I never received any response. During this time FedEx notified me that the damaged package had been delivered to the sender. Still with no contact from the company, I filed a dispute with my credit card company and received a credit to my account. I have totally written off Capitol Lighting. In fact, I ordered an identical fixture from another supplier - at a much lower price, by the way. read more

We recently moved to Boynton Beach and our new home needed fans and lighting fixtures. Many people recommended Capitol Lighting and we, as well, were extremely pleased. Mike Bitchatcho helped us from start to finish . He has the expertise and the patience that I need to feel comfortable with my choices . The orders came within the time frame Mike said they would........and most important....they are all gorgeous! We are so pleased with everything! We will be going back to Capitol Lighting again for several more fixtures and it will be Mike who will again assist us ! Our experience with Capitol Lighting and Mike was outstanding! I checked many other stores and websites for quality outdoor fixtures and you can't beat the selection and prices at Capitol Lighting! Their website was so easy to use and navigate compared to some of their "box-store" competitors. I ended up going back to the store and purchasing something I had liked from the beginning in the show room. Hubert was extremely knowledgeable, patient and very courteous. The showroom has a huge selection of beautiful light fixtures in a good price range. I visited the store twice and Adam Mardak helped me with the order. I appreciate his sincere and honest opinion in selecting the fixtures. He had good advice that helped me in picking out a fixture after debating between two fixtures. This company is a JOKE!!! First we were told 10-12 weeks for a light, which in my opinion is a joke to begin with. Then they call and tell us it's 16 weeks!!! THEN, after waiting 16 weeks they call us to tell us it would be another 2 months!!! Unbelievable.....they basically told us 6 months for 2 chandeliers!!! Forget this place. I wish they couldn't even get one star. Bad enough they couldn't even call us back half the time. Completely unacceptable. They never apologized once! read more

They have a really good selection of lighting in this location, better than any other lighting store I've been to in the area. Unfortunately when I visited them on a weekday I had difficulty finding any sales help, and when I finally did find someone he seemed surprisingly uninterested in helping me. Luckily I had found something I was interested in as I wandered the floor on my own, and when I returned on the weekend with my husband there were many more sales people available and we received fast and reasonable service. read more

I paid for a ceiling fan that Capitol Lighting stated they had in stock and a week later after it missed it's delivery date by several days I had to call Capitol and inform them they didn't meet their end of the bargain. Truth was the fan was *never* actually in stock and wouldn't ship for months. Working with their Customer Service department was painful, particularly insulting was their refusal to honor the $20 coupon used for my original purchase on another fan order that Capitol actually had in stock. Capitol Lighting is dishonest and their poor attempts to cover their tracks with changing excuses is shameful. This is not a business that I want to give my money to, now or ever.
