I came in on a Friday because my check engine light was on. The dealer said that fixing the problem would cost $800. I brought the car here for a second opinion. I brought my 1995 Land Rover D90, a collector's car, into Capo Valley Auto Service for a routine SMOG. After several weeks I had to contact the DMV asking why my registration stickers had been sent At that time the DMV informed me the car had not passed inspection. It turns out that my car had passed all of the functional and emission tests, but did not pass the technician's visual test which was conducted by one of the owners - Reza Kucheki. After doing more research and contacting one of the largest Land Rover parts distributor, it turns out the missing piece Reza used as an excuse to fail my car has NOTHING to do with the emissions system. It was a plug-in adapter for an after-market air conditioning unit. Now looking back on the experience it appears Reza may have been using this issue as an attempt to have one of his friends purchase my car. Conveniently, one of Reza's friends just happened to show up during the SMOG test and wanted to buy my car - which I declined. I've since contacted Reza requesting a refund for the SMOG for the following reasons: 1) He never notified me at the time of testing the car had failed visual inspection 2) The reason he failed my car was for something totally unrelated to the emission system. 3) If you are going to fail a car, you had better know what you are doing - clearly he didn't Buyer beware, bring your car to Capo Valley Auto and you might just get ripped off! - good luck read more

It is a very long story. Basically, I was ripped off. Went in for a simple smog check, they told me I needed a ton of work, and then screwed up my car. It did not even make it home and I had to take it to another mechanic to fix it. Please beware of this company, especially the owner. read more

Ray is a super nice guy who has provided excellent, honest, reliable, reasonably priced auto repair services for him. He replaces & fixes only the parts needed and is very trustworthy! Recently, my car would not start up. I looked around the parking lot/street, I saw a AAA truck & 2 guys right next door standing around drinking their Gatorade --so I asked if they could assist in giving me a quick jump start. They said they couldn't help me even though I'm a member. Thanks to Ray, who kindly came to the rescue by going out of his way to help me get my car back on the road quickly. I went in for a smog check, told Reza that the car had just been fixed that morning. The car did not pass due to OBDII not being ready. He charged me full price and would charge full price for recheck. Stay away from this place. He should have known the car would not pass given the computer onboard had not cycled. read more

First off I have never made a complaint on yelp, but with the type of service I received I have to Share. I had my transmission in my Jeep Cherokee replaced by Ray. When I picked up my SUV it was not finished, and he said to go to the Dealership to pick up Transfer Case fluid. Not happy!! Then I drove my car and two days later my transmission went out. He had the audacity to blame me for my SUV's transmission failure. Long story short, almost two months later and I have not received a refund or a new transmission. When I call he's never in the shop, and never returns my calls. How do you run a business this way? read more

Just finished having a smog check completed here for our Ford diesel truck. Chose this place because of a coupon in the PennySaver. The tech completed the entire check and said the truck did not pass because the "check engine" light was on. I was required to pay $43 for the test. I told him it seemed unethical to me that he would perform the test and chrge me $43 when he could clearly SEE that the "check engine" light was on before he even pulled it into the garage! He said he is required by CA State Law to preform the test. OK---maybe that is true, but now that I've gotten the problem fixed and the "check engine" light is OFF, he says I still have to pay full price for a re-check. Started my roadtrip at 10pm last night and before leaving took my car to les shwab to cheak on a noise coming from a tire. They said they're was nothing wrong with it when they took off the tire the noise was gone. So at about 5am we had to roll our car into a chevron parking lot since the same tire was making a screeching sound. No one was able to take it before Monday since its new years Eve for less than $800 and So we were having it towed to a mechanic til Monday when our tow truck driver suggested this place! Got us in to inspect right away and took care of the inspection free and had the car fixed in a little over an hour for half the price of all other places we called! Friendly staff and great service.
