A fantastic, homemade banana shake, and a very nice cheeseburger
    Joe M.

This place was such a fantastic find! Homemade ice cream! Where do you find that anymore? The banana shake was absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed every second of it. The cheeseburger was nice but the next time I go, it will be definitely a banana split. The people were very very friendly here. It's the kind of place you feel good about going too.

What a great find! Drove to Amsterdam with Hubbie for some shopping and since we are not comfortable yet with indoor dining we decided to give this cute little place a try. Clean picnic tables under shady trees was very inviting. Our server was so warm and friendly. Provided us with menus and full service even though she was running back and forth from the restaurant to the outdoor area. We both chose burgers off the impressively varied menu. Mine was Ale & Onion with a yummy mustard sauce. I also had the mac salad that was recommended by the server. It was definitely as good as she said. Hubbie had a deluxe burger with peppered bacon and a bacon aioli. Both were on lovely brioche buns. Everything was so good including the chocolate malt shake that we shared. A great place for a great meal. Highly recommended!

Good food with good price. Recommended by my coworker. This place has been here for a long time.

    Ice cream flights!

Cash only and seat yourself (so ya don't look silly standing in the doorway to be seated)!! The food is ok. It's a mom and pop, "Drive In" style and quality. The fries are good, the chips are good, the burgers are ok. The chicken burger is a (I think) just a regular old frozen, breaded patty cooked on the grill. Dinner baskets are $8-$10ea (-ish). Three dinners, drinks, deserts, and a milkshake was about $60. The servers are great! The piece de resistance of the whole place is their ice cream, though!!! They serve flights of ice cream! Don't know what flavor you want? Try 3 different flavors! 3 flavors isn't enough?!? Try the 4 flavor flight! A really great idea!

I still really like this place, but the service was way off on this particular day, even though they were not busy. We ordered three Road House Burgers, two with sweet potatoes fries, and one with regular fries. We were only served one burger w/ sweet potato fries, but we were charged $3 extra for each burger! And one burger was missing bacon. The amount of blue cheese crumbles and caramelized onions was minuscule. The burger patties themselves are unseasoned, so the toppings are key. Overall, it's a decent burger and I like their fries, but it's hard to overlook the mistakes with our ordering, especially when we were overcharged because of it.

The owner, Sal, came over to our table while we scanned the menus and introduced himself. He gave us a complimentary taco each and said "these are the best tacos you've ever had." I loved the confidence and I loved that he was right. It was love at first bite. We ordered a quesadilla, a chicken salad, a plate of fries, more tacos and a gyro (assuming we would be taking most of it home and eating it for dinner over the week) The quesadilla & gyro were delicious and fresh. They were still tasty as leftovers 2 days later. I wasn't crazy about the salad but that's probably my fault. Ya Hala does comfort junk food - this is not the time to be calorie-conscious. Sal checked in on us a number of times while we were eating. The restaurant is a small hole-in-the-wall with a few booths and a bathroom. I assume most of their business comes from people doing take out at the end of their work day. If I lived or worked closer, I would be a regular customer here. In the end, Sal packed our food in to-go boxes and gave us a free gyro as a surprise. At some point during dinner, my husband mentioned I was Yelp Elite. In the interest of full disclosure, at no point did Sal ask me to leave a favorable review or use his free food as a bargaining chip. This review is done without taking the free gyro into consideration.

I was going to book the Log Jam but they only had a reservation at 7:45 and we would be in the area at 6:30. Luckily I found Lizzie Keays in nearby Warrensburg. I picked this place because the reviews looked promising, the website said there's live music and the menu looked good. When I walked in though, I panicked for a sec because the vibe isn't what my family is accustomed to. It's more of an old, small sleepy country town type of vibe. When our poutine appetizer arrived, my kids oooh'd and aaah'd and devoured it. Having had a ton of poutine in Canada, this one was completely different. It bad baby potatoes instead of fries and short ribs with a tasty sauce. The bread with seasoned butter was good too. So far, the food was surprisingly good. I started to relax a bit. Then our mains arrived. We each loved our food. I ordered the short ribs with pasta. The pasta had the perfect amount of roasted cherry tomato and cream, making the pasta really delicious. The short rib was tender and tasty but I do wish it had a bit of sauce. A couple of us ordered the pork ribeye and they both loved the dish. The pork was perfectly moist and tender. We also ordered the chicken parm with regular tomato sauce instead of the walnut sauce- it was also a hit. We also ordered the Black Forest chicken - it was delicious. For dessert, we ordered the hazelnut torte. It was moist and had the right amount of sweetness. Many of the dishes had walnuts in the sauce but I was happy they were able to make the chicken parm with a regular sauce instead of a walnut based sauce to accommodate severe allergies at our table. The entree prices were on the higher end but reasonable. The sides, dessert and drinks however, seemed a bit pricey. Overall, a good meal and it will be on our list of restaurants for the area. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to change the vibe of the restaurant to match the food. It was crispy and well-executed, and the beurre blanc was silky and rich. I think it would have been even better with spaetzle, but the portion size was generous on its own--I'm just a starch girlie. My husband ordered the bolognese, which was flavorful and came in a healthy portion. He ended up taking some home, which we love because leftovers are never a bad thing.
