    Mission accomplished!

I really like On the Farm, it's a place I have been coming to for years. I prefer this spot over Guptills, which is the other local favorite. I mostly like coming here for ice cream, but they have some nice and reasonably priced fast food style meal items. I purchased a kiddie and medium twist on my recent trip, the total was $6.70. I'd say that amount is about average. The ice cream was very creamy and delicious. Even a little bit better than Kurver. There is ample amount of seating outdoors, both covered by awning and out in the sun. Great spot for a frozen treat during the short NY summers!

Strawberry shortcake sundae no whip cream

This is a cute place with nice seating. I was a little disappointed with my sundae. I asked for no whipped cream and it came with it anyways. I pointed it out to the girl at the window and she seemed annoyed. She asked if she could just scrape it off and I told her that's fine. The biscuit portion isn't homemade but just your typical dessert shell which was still frozen when served. The strawberries were good and a nice portion but seemed to be the usual restruant supply strawberries and also were still partial frozen when served. It wasn't a complicated sundae but seemed to have issues in several areas. On a positive they do offer the trending caramel volcano cone that a lot of people are talking about lately.

    Surprisingly tasty grilled chicken sandwich.

I'm still not that into soft serve. But I still consider On the Farm to be the best-in-class locally for the stuff. Seriously, as much as I drive around the Capital Region looking for the very best versions of the stuff, there's only so far I'm willing to go on a regular outing for soft serve. When my brother-in-law came visiting earlier this summer, and brought his family, this was the perfect place to take a gaggle of hungry kids. Not just for ice cream, but for food as well. While I had never tried the food before, I had heard encouraging noises. The burger looked delicious: greasy and cheesy in all the best possible ways. One of the kids ordered grilled cheese, and that too was delightfully golden. So many grilled cheese sandwiches are rushed and get toasted only in the center. But this one was beautiful. I'm on a diet, so begrudgingly I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and prepared for the worst. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the thin chicken cutlet was in the sandwich. Even the veg was bright and lively. My wife's fish fry was not quite as good. And I can't say I was crazy about under-seasoned french fries. Yes, there is salt at the window. However, fries are always best when tossed with salt immediately out of the oil. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it excellent? You bet. Maybe there are better places further away. Maybe they are even worth the trip. But for my money, and for the happiness it brings the kids, On the Farm is my summertime staple.

A very popular drive-in restaurant serving ice cream treats (waffle cones, cups, sundaes, shakes, malts, floats, & flurries) and hot food (burgers, hot dogs, steak sandwiches, fish frys, clam rolls, & chicken tenders). Hershey's hard ice cream and Pepsi fountain drinks are served here. The food and ice cream here are pretty good. Especially on the weekends, the wait in line can take a while since there is only one order window and one pickup window. Ample picnic table seating available nearby.

Looked good ..but didn't last long. Ice cream soup in the making! :-(

On an exploration to find the best soft serve ice cream in the area, I bookmarked On The Farm. I was interested in trying it as a dipped cone after seeing a few delicious looking photos from some friends. We went as a group of 5 expecting some awesome ice cream. Sad to say, those who had the hard ice cream thought that the flavors were overly sweet and said it would be more kid friendly. A friend and I had the vanilla soft serve with cake batter dip and the vanilla soft serve with chocolate dip. By the time the dipped cones were handed over to us at the pick up window, it already began to melt. Within 3 minutes time my cone was melted down to ice cream soup...meaning a large puddle of vanilla on the table I sat at. Not only my dipped cone had that effect but also my friend's. I'd say only 25% of the actual ice cream made it to my mouth. The cake batter and chocolate dip was also very thin. We left disappointed and wanted to go elsewhere to satisfy our sweet tooth. I'm not sure what went wrong but that poor ice cream just went to feed the table and the ground. We were the only people at the stand on a weekday around 1pm. If you do go here, take advantage of the Yelp check in offer of 10% off ice cream order! Service was quick and they had no problems taking the Yelp offer but I'm hoping they'll get it right if I do end up coming back and giving it another chance.

    Leaning "medium" size cone
    Tiff J.

I tried On the Farm for the first time today. While the soft serve vanilla ice cream was good, that was about it. I ordered a medium vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles. $5.00! I feel like that's pricey for one cone. THEN, I am handed the smallest medium I've ever seen & it looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. In my opinion, that's unacceptable. I've had just as good, if not better ice cream for cheaper. Will not return.

The first time I order a burger at someplace new to me, I always skip the sauces and condiments, so I can taste the flavor of the beef and the toppings. It certainly comes through here! Despite being cooked well, the beef flavor was strong, and the patties remained juicy. I wish they offered Swiss cheese as another possible topping. The fries are not my favorite. I do enjoy crisp fries, and these indeed are. The first few, while still hot, were tasty. But there comes the question, "Can fries be too crisp?" For me, these would be a "yes." While I appreciated the crunch, these were beyond the point where you still have the fluffier texture inside. They almost felt like french-fry shaped potato chips. They're also very filling. One serving could easily satisfy 3 people. I'll want to visit again to try one of their chicken sandwiches. And I saw on one of their signs that they carry Jane's Ice Cream, something I haven't had for a while. Bottom line: I'd come here for a burger or a chicken sandwich, but I'd be likely to get a side elsewhere in the building.

This was my first time at Beer Bones Bar and Grill. We went as a group of six and made a 6pm reservation, which turned out to be a good call because the place filled up quickly. It's on the smaller side and definitely gets busy. One thing to note, there is a 3% upcharge if you pay by credit card. It's posted on the door, but easy to miss if you're not looking for it. We started with pretzels and mozzarella sticks, both were very good. From there, it's clear wings are a big focus here. They have a ton of sauce options. We ordered a wing platter and tried Stebo, garlic parm, moonshine, and bourbon BBQ. The Stebo was the clear favorite for everyone, with the bourbon BBQ as my personal second. I'd definitely be interested in trying their honey BBQ next time. The wings themselves were excellent, large, meaty, crispy, and very flavorful. I'm somewhat of a wing aficionado, and these absolutely delivered. One thing that really stood out was the generous portion of celery, carrots, and blue cheese. Most places treat that as an afterthought, but not here. Everything was fresh and plentiful, which was a nice change. Bravo on that. For entrees, we were told they were out of string fries and corned beef, but pastrami was available as a substitute for Reubens. Not a big deal for our group. I ordered a cheeseburger, no tomato or onion, add lettuce, with steak fries, and asked for it well done. Others at the table ordered a Feener burger, another cheeseburger, mac and cheese, tater tots, a slider, and a Nashville hot chicken wrap. The one issue was that our waiter didn't write anything down, which made us all a little skeptical. Unfortunately, that concern turned out to be valid. One burger came out without cheese, and they were out of American, so it had to be switched to cheddar. My order came out with tomato and onion, no lettuce, and waffle fries instead of steak fries. To their credit, everything was corrected quickly. The runner brought out lettuce right away and swapped the fries, mentioning steak fries take a little longer, but they came out pretty fast. My burger itself was what I'd call medium rare rather than well done, but I was hungry and didn't send it back. Despite the mix-ups, the food across the board was very good, and the portions were large. I was full and couldn't even finish my fries, which almost never happens. Service overall was a mixed bag. The waiter was friendly and acknowledged the mistakes upfront, which I appreciated. Other staff checked in on us, refilled drinks, and made sure we had napkins and wet wipes for the wings. Once the errors were announced , they were handled quickly and without any issue. I really think if the order had been written down, this could have easily been a 5 star visit. I'll definitely be back, the wings alone are worth it, and the staff did a good job recovering from the mistakes. Next time, if we're a larger group again, I might suggest writing the order down just to avoid the same issues.

I have eaten at another location and knew what to expect. The burger was very good, though also greasy. I like thin, crispy burgers and they do it well though despite the handy paper handle to hold it with your fingers will get very messy. My son absolutely loved his burger too. The fries were much better than what I had experienced at their other location. These seemed pre-cut, perhaps pre-frozen, and coated in cornstarch. The top of the container were nice and crispy though they got soggy as you went down. I wish they arranged them flat on a plate, which might keep their texture better (though result in them getting colder faster). All in all, I like this place. I've been to Innovo Kitchen in Latham several times over the years and I've enjoyed it every time. They have a unique menu that changes periodically, but I always find something that catches my eye. The interior has an industrial feel which I like, with a lot of exposed brick. The tables are made from old bowling lane wood, which is a really cool touch. When you walk in there is also a bowling pin displayed in a glass case. I remember there being a bowling alley somewhere in that plaza when I was a kid, so it seems likely the building has some history tied to that. The tables are also nice and large, which makes the dining experience more comfortable. Tonight I ordered the Monte Cristo burger which is described as battered Buckley's Bread sourdough, a 6 oz special grind burger, Taylor pork roll, Swiss, and Twin Leaf Farms maple aioli. It was quite tasty and I really enjoyed the hint of maple syrup flavor on the burger. The crinkle cut fries that came with it were also very good. Another person in our party ordered the White Chicken Parmesan, described as a crisp chicken cutlet topped with ricotta and garlic spinach and fresh mozzarella, with garlic parmesan cream and lumache pasta. They said it was delicious. Someone else had the Crispy Skin Salmon and enjoyed that as well. A child at our table ordered macaroni with red sauce. The portion was surprisingly large and they liked it, which is impressive because they are particularly finicky. For dessert we ordered something we've had here several times before, the peanut butter mud pie. It's basically ice cream in pie form with an Oreo cookie crust and chocolate fudge. It's very tasty and also a generous portion. At the end of your meal they also offer everyone at the table a tasty piece of gourmet chocolate. One thing that really stood out tonight was the attentiveness of the management. Two different managers stopped by our table at different times to check and make sure everything was good. I recognized one of them because I've seen him there before and he always seems to make a point of checking in with guests. The other person had seated us so I initially thought she was the hostess, but after she stopped by during the meal I asked if she was a manager and she confirmed that she was. I mentioned that I was impressed that two different managers had checked on us, and that every time I've dined there a manager has stopped by to make sure everything was good. I thanked her and told her it was appreciated. During the summer and fall they also have a very nice patio area for outdoor dining. On cooler nights they have heaters and a fireplace which makes it a great place to sit outside. I will definitely return here again in the future. 5 stars

I absolutely think this place is great!…read more I was introduced to Fallside through a Yelp Event earlier this year. I talked about it so much at work my friends begged to go. We met up for 50 cent wings on Sunday. Yeah, that's right, what is this 2006? 50 cent wings, and they are no joke! Big plump and juicy wings cooked perfectly crispy and generously tossed in sauce with was was described as house-made ranch or blue cheese dressing? My friends really enjoyed them. I had the fried vegetable gyoza and I can't say I've ever had them deep fried before, more like steamed or pan-fried, but this was a game changer! I was really looking forward to the Imposter cheezy jalapeno bites but our server informed us they were out. I love that they have several vegan options on the menu. At the Yelp Event we were fortunate enough to try the vegan pizza and it was honestly one of the best vegan pizzas around the Capital Region. They use Imposter plant-based cheese which is a local product made by a small business in Troy. I love that small businesses are supporting each other like this. The beer is excellent too, we were looking forward to having the red ale since I spoke so fondly of it but it was tapped out. I had a really good mango IPA which hazy doesn't even begin to describe! It's really nice inside and on Sunday it had just become warm enough by mid afternoon, they opened the big garage door and let some fresh air in which was no nice after such a long winter. I think I can speak for my coworkers and I that we will be coming back again soon so please keep those vegan options stocked up!

So the next time I scheduled a brewery crawl in the area, I made sure to come here. I submitted a business page update regarding the rebranding, but at this point, I don't know whether Yelp will simply rename the existing page or create a new one for Fallside. For the time being, my update goes under Bye-I. The new space is great. I had no idea how much bigger it was until I walked a ways inside, and I was equally impressed by the cool artwork. The beer is, of course, as tasty as before. We seated ourselves in the back to enjoy our pours, and within a couple of minutes, a server dropped off food menus and attended to us the rest of the evening. Had I read my recently obtained copy of the March-April copy of local "True Brew," I would have known that several of their dishes were featured in it, specifically their beef stew and mac & cheese. But I had the Chicken Caprese sandwich, which came with steak fries perfectly cooked and obviously cut in their own kitchen. We were checked on frequently, and as we were finishing up, their Friday evening music session was starting. Food and drink here are reasonably priced, and I feel the quality of both were just as good, or perhaps better, than what you get at "those larger breweries" along Broadway. Of course I'll still patronize them all, but for me, Fallside has the edge in this part of town right now.
