Happy Days are here again! Or they will be, once this godforsaken pandemic is over. It will eventually end, right? Right???!!! But Happy Days the Restaurant is still here, and if you're driving by, I highly recommend a stop. I haven't partaken of their burgers and dogs, but on a hot day, the ice cream can't be beat. They've got both soft and hard ice cream, so I can get legitimate ice cream while my wife gets a twist with sprinkles like a child. At least she shared it with our actual child, I guess. This roadside stop is staffed by the sweetest girls. Business has probably been a little slower, so I gave them a pretty generous tip (percentage wise) which I thought was pretty reasonable (total wise). I have to believe no one tips them because the girl was like, "Are you sure??!" and then they loaded me up with way more ice cream than I really ever need. My small cone must've had four scoops on it, and in the heat it collapsed under its own weight and I lost two of them...and I wasn't even sad, because it was still plenty of ice cream for a small, and the perfect treat on a hot day.

Great spot! We have drove by this place for years and today we stopped. They were the only spot open on the way home from the lake. They were actually open after the hours that they had posted. First. Hospitality. First class. All the young ladies (I imagine the gentleman too but we didn't see any tonight) were friendly and courteous. Second. Tastiness. First class. All four of us had unique tastes and they're all really delicious. I had cannoli hard ice cream in a waffle cone. Marscapone flavored vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and cannoli shell pieces. My Son had hard ice cream mint chocolate surprise. Super minty with chocolate all throughout. My daughter had Cookie Monster also hard ice cream. Blue vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and cookie dough. And the wife had soft serve vanilla with cherry flavor twist. Finally. Price. Very reasonable for what we received. Bring cash - no cards accepted. They definitely earned a nice tip tonight! Great job Happy Days! We will be back!

A diamond in the rough to say the least, Happy Days is unassuming, a roadside drive up that you could easily miss heading north outside of Amsterdam, NY. We pulled in looking for a quick bite, burger and fries and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered 2 Happy Days Burgers and my first indication that I was not in your standard roadside burger dive was when the tatted-up babe behind the counter asked, "How would you like that cooked?" "Medium Rare please," I answered in disbelief. 5 minutes later we had 2 medium rare burgers delivered to our picnic table with fries cooked to perfection! Best part (I mean other than the perfectly cooked big juicy burgers) was the cost-a real bargain to say the least! Oh and the gorgeous girls with the tattoos, the rockin' 50's tunes and the ice cream ain't to shabby either! Thank you ladies, you made our day!

Great outdoor seating area! Must visit place to grab a good bite during the summer time!

The cheeseburger with grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. Mac Salad for the side with peas and carrots.

I was there June 10, 2022. The burger was tasty and I loved the grilled bun. Great flavor. Things were a bit juicy, likely due to the grilled mushrooms. This resulted in the whole thing falling apart before I was done. The macaroni salad was also good - a bit different with peas and carrots but a generous serving. I enjoyed the outdoor seating as well. I will be back.

I've been coming to Raindancer for years and I honestly can't remember ever having a bad meal here. It's one of those dependable restaurants where you know you're going to leave happy. Back before COVID they had a legendary salad bar and I REALLY wish they would bring it back. I'm not even a huge salad person and I still looked forward to it every time I came here. It was fresh, loaded with options, and honestly one of the best restaurant salad bars around. Raindancer, if you're reading this, bring back the salad bar!!! The ribs here are excellent. Always tender, flavorful, and they give you a very good sized portion. I've brought several friends here over the years and everyone has always enjoyed their meals. The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to it that fits the atmosphere perfectly. The food is consistently great and the staff has always been friendly and attentive whenever I've visited. Small negative is there are no free refills on soft drinks. I believe it's always been the case here atleast as far back as I can recall. For me it should be a big deal because I live sodas it's an integral part of my dinner. But yet i like it here a lot so I forgive it. That says something. Keeping my soda filled is one was I rate servers. If they do it without me asking they are ontop of their game to me. But Ike I said that's not applicable here. Just keep it in mind. But for me, the crown jewel here is the chocolate mousse pie. It is fantastic. Light, fluffy, rich without being too heavy, topped with whipped cream and little chocolate morsels. It's absolute heaven. They also have a peanut butter mousse pie that I keep telling myself I'm going to try someday, but every time I come here I can't bring myself to pass on the chocolate mousse pie. Maybe one day... although probably not. It's just too good. They have a take out window. Sometimes if I'm in the area I quickly pick some up for desert. It's so worth it.

Pros: very friendly staff Cons: this is an old restaurant…read moreand it feels tired. Matted carpet, sticky floors, old decor. It does look like they may have tried to spruce it up at some point but not well. Prices are up there, and the food inconsistent. I had the French onion soup and it was delicious, I followed that with the copped chicken salad and it was awful. Cold pre frozen chicken and absolutely no taste whatsoever to the salad base. Even slapping on salad dressing didn't help. We also ordered the prime rib, now this dish came out perfectly, hot and just as described. It had great flavor. The drinks, soda and ice tea were a ridiculous price, nearly $4 each with no refills. All in all a disappointing meal for almost $100 and nope, no return visit, I believe they are just resting in their laurels of past days.

The menu was small (usually means they focus on doing less things well, rather than many things mediocre). Beer selection was decent. I ordered the "Hot Honey Chicken Tacos." Was I wrong to expect the chicken to be tossed in hot honey rather than hot honey just drizzled over the fried chicken tacos? I was disappointed when I got what was set in front of me. Also, you're going to give me a mess of hot honey all over these fried chicken tacos and not have wet wipes?? My hands were like little kid sticky afterwards. The other two in our party of 3 had sandwiches. One got fries with their meal. The other got tater tots. The sandwiches came out without the sides. The fries shortly afterwards, but like 10 minutes later the tater tots finally came out after we spoke to the very nice waitress. I guess I don't understand why we can't send out complete meals with any kind of coordination. All in all the atmosphere was good. The waitstaff was nice. The drinks were good. The food was ok but overall it wasn't mind blowing. Oh! And I'm so glad I didn't have to drive or find parking because that was a hot mess in an of itself. You should go try it. You might have a better experience. I guess I expected more.

So that happened…read more About to sit down for our second meal in two nights at The Nest/Schenectady (not the subject of this review). Why? Why would we drive 20 minutes in the rain and fog on St Patrick's and not eat at the lobby restaurant (this restaurant) where we were guests for two nights? Why walk out on our reservation? The reservation made with the front desk? Incompetence. Disrespect. Complete inability to remedy multiple screw ups. We were taken to our table with a cute little reserved placard on it. Unnecessary, but ok. There were three tables dining. Of dozens. As in the place was completely empty. Tables everywhere. Ours? Right next to the point-of-sale system against the bar. We asked to move. A dozen tables were available away from the bar. As it turns out, the significantly warmer side of the venue. Nope. The gentleman states that we can only sit on the kitchen entrance side close to the main door. In an empty restaurant. We sat there for about two minutes before it was clear we'd be cold from the main door draft and even more frustrated by the loud yelling in the kitchen. The ice crunching from the bartender was the only thing that made it comical. Seriously, within two minutes my neck was stiff from the cold at the second table. My wife's feet, in boots, we're getting chilled. I'd be furious if this wasn't a first world thing. It is a first world thing. But if you're looking for a nice dining experience in an empty restaurant and the staff wants to sit your reservation made, suite (just a bigger room) staying butt in front of the kitchen or POS system rather than accept that the guest isn't satisfied with the hospitality... As I said, we left. We won't be back. At least I got a nice text letting me know they canceled our reservation.
