One of the 2 chairs in front of our unit disappeared one evening. We called security person Jarrett & not only did he Not show any interest, he said it happens all the time. We could walk to a few restaurants but when we ubered to St. Pete the prices were surprisingly low. There are outdoor showers and a cute communal area with hammocks, corn hole, and giant connect 4. The AC worked well and the shower had good pressure. Beds and linens were clean and comfortable. We had ample towels. The area is very safe and quiet. We all had a great time!

Hubs & I booked a…read moreroom for one night maybe 10 years ago - definitely long enough ago that I don't remember any details, good or bad. Fast-forward to COVID-time... my friends were here for a week following the 4th of July and again for a week after Labor Day, and I came out for a day each time. As I was able to see inside four different units during those visits, everything looked very clean & well-maintained. Since I live about 35 minutes away, the Pinellas beaches are very accessible. So for my birthday weekend at the end of September, hubs & I decided to plan a 3-night getaway. After looking at a bunch of other properties up & down the Pinellas coast, I decided to book with Surf Song since I had recent first-hand experience and their rates were simply outstanding. Bonus points for this stretch of beach being so narrow! AND extra credit for the proximity to John's Pass. Surf Song is part of a resort group that offers online reservations, which was a huge plus for me (you might be surprised at how many smaller/independent vacation rental beach properties don't have online booking in 2020 - I was). Checking in on-site Friday afternoon was quick & easy. Though I knew which parking spots were for visitors, I was appreciative that we were able to get an extra parking pass for hubs' truck (we drove separately because he had to work very early on Monday). The room key deposit was $20, which was charged separately, and refunded before I'd even made it to work after checking out Monday morning. Since the units are privately owned, I'd spent some time studying the photos online & reading the bed descriptions (which saved me from almost booking a room with a slightly better view but only two twin beds). Our final price for three nights was comparable to a room at larger hotels, but we had a full kitchen and separate living room plus a gulf view. The balcony was shared, but with only 5 other rooms & not all were occupied each night. Our unit was on the 3rd floor, with the entrance facing Gulf Blvd & the parking lot. The door opened immediately into a tight bedroom with king size bed, dresser, large TV and closet, plus plantation shutters on the window that blocked the rising sun each morning. The kitchen area was adjacent to the bedroom, with a pocket door between the two. Though smallish, the kitchen had most of the necessities for a lengthy stay, including a 4-burner electric stove with oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. The cabinets were stocked with plates, drinkware, pots & pans, silverware, utensils, etc., as well as a toaster, manual juicer & small crock pot. The fridge was not residential full-size but much larger than a typical hotel unit at about 5' tall, including a separate freezer on top. In the living area, a sleeper sofa faced the very large flatscreen TV, along with a recliner, and small dining table with a fold-out leaf. Through the glass sliders, the balcony facing the Gulf had a couple of chairs with a small table. The large bathroom had a tub/shower combo & plenty of counter space. Note, each unit is decorated & furnished independently by the owners, and the website photos are very helpful. We were pleased with the cleanliness of our room and enjoyed its beachy style without being too dated. For our first full day, hubs went down to the beach & paid for a cabana. Basically this was a very large umbrella over two reclining wooden loungers with cushions... perfect for us! And the attendant came by every few hours to reposition the umbrella. That said, I don't know if these rentals have anything to do with the resort other than being available on the beach immediately between the property and the water. On our second (and last) full day, we relaxed closer to the resort's pool. Hubs went down early & reserved an umbrella table for us just outside of the shady pool area, overlooking the sand & surf. By "reserved", I mean that he spread out our beach towels. Because the table wasn't right by pool, we weren't disturbed at all by other guests, and hubs could play music on his small speaker without disturbing anyone else. The pool area is a cozy courtyard design with lots of tables with umbrellas and dozens of chaise lounges. There's no hot tub here, but this is Florida. Surf Song Resort is located almost directly across Gulf Blvd from John's Pass - ideally located for a quick walk to dining and shopping. This is not a fancy resort, but definitely a great value, with a variety of room configurations. I've always enjoyed visiting when my girlfriends are here, and my own recent weekend stay was fantastic.

The condo has a window that the sliding door shade on one side does not go all the way down, been like that for quite awhile, gets hot in the afternoon with the sun come in. The condo has not been update I'm sure in quite some time. That's apparent with the condition of furnishings. Considering the amount of money (4,000) for 2 weeks, this is so not worth it. Stay away from here and find something worth the money!!

The king size bed is comfortable, not too soft, not too hard, and the pillows were just right. Almost new I liked the high thread count on the sheets. The bathroom was redone after the storms and was well appointed and very comfortable. If you are coming to treasure Island or Saint Pete Beach, please consider this place as your home away from home. Parking is very small in front of the hotel but there is a lot in the lower level. Lower level kind of creepy looking and dark/dingy. Checking in was easy and the staff was nice. Water jug is by the lobby for a quick drink. Love the vibe of the hotel - retro but updated and colorful. We got an oceanfront view on the third floor, so palm trees were blocking our view. So if you get oceanfront, then try to get a floor that's higher than three. If you are on the southwest side you hear the music of Bongos restaurant until 11p each night. There was a nice balcony attached to the room, but the air conditioner unit was blowing hot air while you were sitting. You are able to have your porch door open and ac running at the same time. Fan in the room was nice. Shutters are a classy touch but windows themselves are old. The toilet in the room was bubbling throughout our stay, so the bathroom had a gross smell. The toilet pressure was horrible, and there were hard water marks all over the shower. Complimentary snow cones on Saturdays from 1-2p at the St. Pete Social in lobby. They are small but a nice gesture. Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Nice to have a refrigerator in the room. Towels for the pool and beach were constantly restocked. Never was a pile of old towels either. Maintenance folks were really on it. One guy was touchup painting the hallways, while another guy was cleaning the rugs to get rid of the sand. Get to the beach early to rent your cabana or chairs. You can hold your cabana for a few hours but if you don't come back then you lose it. There is a volleyball court and some other beach games. You can order food and drink from your cabana and it comes from the attached hotel restaurant, Bongos (their food isn't great). Spinners restaurant, level 11, and the St Pete Social in the lobby are all worth checking out for food. Skip bongos though, being on the beach is nice but their food is subpar. The water and beach is amazing and that is what you are paying for. The pool area is nice and has loungers and other seating areas to relax.
