Groupon brought me to FeNom, and I hope to come back later on…read more I called 15 minutes before my appt to let them know I was running a little late, and my stylist Alissa was understanding. When I arrived, I really had no clue what I wanted - stylist's nightmare, I'm sure. I had had long hair for so long, I couldn't picture myself with any other hairstyle. After clipping off the bleached ends of my mane, Alissa shampooed and conditioned while we chatted a bit about life. (Note, water did make its way down my neck and back during this experience) Alissa had suggested layers framing my face and the rest of my hair - my only concern was I wanted to maintain some length, which she reassured me I would. Snip snip away! 45 minutes and a styling blow dry later, my head was so much lighter. It was crazy. Well, according to friends, it's still long, but I feel the difference. And it feels so strong and healthy. After about 2 weeks, I'm finally used to the feel of the layers. The only note that I had was the location - if your GPS tells you to U-turn at the light, do not! You want to left turn and then turn left again, following the road back until you see a two-story strip mall. It's an awkward location, and in the evening, there is very little lighting around the building and the stairwells. Nonetheless, I'm pleased with my experience at FeNom, and with Alissa. They sent reminder texts to confirm my appointment, and were very accommodating. If you let FeNom know Stacy referred you, we both get a percentage off our services!

It is ironic because I used this salon for a groupon haircut/blow which is a set price and you…read moredon't need to go in for a consultation. So, I decided to try it out for my highlights since I use a salon down the street which I also found on yelp that has much higher reviews than this one and has been in business for over 30 years. I wasn't unhappy with the place I use I just wanted to try someone new and read about Jessica the owner. I tried to make an earlier appointment 3:30 but they couldn't do it so I had a 4:00. Regardless I went in at 3:30 because I came from work and running errands around the area with traffic just isn't easy. I walk in at 3:35 and what do you know not one person in the salon getting their hair done. Perfect ! In a weird way so, I can actually start earlier and get out earlier .I sat down and told Jessica what I wanted plain and simple. I showed her a picture of my hair, and said just match that please. Full highlights with her are $175 higher than most places in the area for a hole in the wall salon, but she had good reviews. Next, she started going on a rampage about my hair I need this, and that, and this and that. I told her I had a baby and at 6 months lost hair around the frame of my face. She told me no it is because my hair is damaged and needs a treatment for that. REALLY??????? So, my gynecologist whom went to 15 years of college is wrong? But, Jessica knows more because she never had a baby. Strike 1. I talked her out of the doing . She then comes back with a price of $247 that for highlights/gloss mind you no blowout, no haircut, and no deep conditioning treatment. I never felt so uncomfortable you know those people that try to sell snow to an Eskimo? Well, they must be related to Jessica because she is greedy, and tries to sell you everything possible to the point it is almost obnoxious. I walked out of the salon and booked an appointment back with the girl I always use for 1/2 the price and the same amazing job ! The ironic thing is that salon has higher yelp reviews and is 40 blocks south !!!!!!!

I truly wish I could leave a better review, but my experience at this location yesterday morning…read morewas extremely disappointing...especially because I booked an up-do appointment ahead of a huge milestone: the grand opening of my art studio. I wanted to look and feel my best, and unfortunately that didn't happen here. I arrived on time, had sent my inspiration photos to the salon ahead of time (as advised), and came prepared with very clear reference images for a simple, messy mid-height bun with volume and some hair framing my eyes. I have fine hair and know it needs teasing and hairspray (I even do a simple version of this style myself) so nothing I asked for was unrealistic. My stylist, Deana, seemed distant and unfriendly from the moment the appointment started. I even had to ask her name five minutes in. The energy felt off from the beginning. About halfway through I turned my chair around to get a look, and my heart dropped. The front looked flat, unflattering, and nothing like the inspiration photos. When I politely and gently tried to give feedback, she was very cold and passive-aggressive. Even the client and stylist next to us picked up on the tension. She told me she "couldn't do" what I asked for, which was confusing because it was a very standard up-do. The appointment was booked for an hour, yet she rushed through it in about 30 minutes and immediately moved on to her next client. It felt incredibly rushed and uncomfortable. When I went to check out, the lovely stylist at the front saw I was upset, took one look at my inspiration photos, and honestly told me that my hair needed a lot more teasing and shouldn't have been done that way. She kindly sat me down and tried to fix it, but unfortunately there wasn't enough time because I had to get to my makeup appointment. Despite the rushed service and the visibly poor result, my stylist offered me only $5 off of the $90 price...and then asked how much I wanted to tip. Given the situation, that felt extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable. The bun itself was cute from the back, but the front looked flat, unfinished, and already had pins falling out. Even I (not a professional) could tell the lack of teasing and hairspray made it impossible for the style to hold or have enough volume. Thankfully, when I arrived at Charlotte Tilbury for my makeup appointment, the team there immediately noticed and felt terrible for me. One of their artists who used to be a professional hairstylist graciously redid my entire up-do from scratch for free, and made me look absolutely beautiful for my big day!!! They said that what I was asking for as inspiration was indeed possible and straight forward to achieve. I'm so grateful for them! It's a shame because the other stylists at Blo Blow Dry Bar seemed friendly and were creating gorgeous styles on their clients. But my own experience was rushed, unprofessional, and shockingly uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I found this place through google, my first thought was that the shop was really cute and the setup…read morewas nice. I came in to get my tape ins taken out and reinstalled, I also asked for a balayage touch up since my older balayage grew out. When they removed my tape ins, they were not light handed nor gentle. They just pulled and yanked out my extensions and hair. Super painful... I asked for a balayage suzanna (the owner) said she can do it. Instead of painting and blending lines in my hair, she just SLAPS on the bleach and goes as fast as she can, scrunching the foil (causing uneven coloring) "I Took 15 minutes to do a full head on highlights". She said that out loud to her coworker and laughs.. a full head of highlights on long hair should never be less than 15 mins if painted properly..... had my hair washed and blow dried, only to see 4 different tones of blonde!!! 2-3 inches of bright yellow, then orange, then yellow then dark orange... I also had PATCHES IN MY HAIR BECAUSE SHE DID NOT THOROUGHLY APPLY THE BLEACH.. she comes over telling me how beautiful my hair looks. I was so surprised because do you not see the 4 OBVIOUS DIFFERENT SHADES OF BLONDE??? With brown patches in between my bright blondes??? She told me it will look blended once I put my extensions in but I didn't want that, I wanted my hair to look nice even if I did not put extensions in my hair.. She then tells me "why are you so complicated" WOW I said all I want is for my blonde to be one shade, not 4! She ends up toning my hair 4 Times, still, I had uneven non blended hair, big blotchy yellow and orange hair. Had my hair washed and blowed so many times and each time my hair pulled and yanked hard. Suzanna takes 10+ smoke breaks throughout my process . After the 4th toner I ended up leaving without blow drying because at this point I was already there for SIX HOURS I WASTED. I didn't even care about leaving with wet hair at this point. Long story short, Paid and NEVER going back. Please don't waste your time and money. I also want to mention I have a bunch of leftover glue from my tape ins still in my hair... you'd think after washing and blow drying my hair 5 times the tape would be noticed and taken off but no. I'm very unhappy. I left with wet hair I did not want, a waste of 6 hours and gunks of left over glue all in my hair. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I work in the same building as this place…read more A few people from work recommended the Stylist to me, as a convenient barber choice, given the location, in Aventura. Last week, I walked in on 4 separate occasions. All 4 times, I was told the recommended stylist was on his way back and should be in within 20 minutes. I work on the 10th floor, this place is on the 1st, no problem. A quick 10 minute, round-trip walk, and he'd be back, and my hair would be cut. Suh weet. Imagine my surprise, on 4 separate occasions spaced out throughout the day, when 20 minutes wasn't the exact amount of time it took for him to come back. This was my fault I thought to myself, because I had the audacity of thinking this little boutique would have an easy time with walk-ins. My mistake. The FOLLOWING WEEK, I did the most responsible thing I could think of. I called first. First call, he had an appointment to cut 2 kids hair, he would be about 30 minutes. HAHA lady behind the phone, I don't believe you at this point, so I call again. Second call, he was still working on the 1st kids hair, he would be available in about 15 minutes. HAHAHA lady, still don't believe you so I call 20 minutes later. Third call, Shucks, hes still working on kid 2, but he should be done in just 15 minutes. Now I'm feeling confident that this process is gonna go smooth and easy. Walk right into the boutique, and The Stylist I've been waiting for is washing an elderly woman's hair. After standing in line behind the parent with 2 kids, while his wife haggled price, for a few minutes the Stylist finally approaches me himself, and asks if I am here for him, when I say yes, he tells me he just started with another woman, and that he would help me speak with the lady at the front desk to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. At this point, I laughed out loud. Shook the guys hand, and told him I've been trying to see him since last week, and since this day is friday, and I have 3 hours left to go in my shift, we'd just have to try again next week. Spoiler alert, much like the front desk ladies that work there. I was lying.
