I went down a few of them; some led to things, others just led to an empty opening or dead end, maybe because it's post-bloom? Small parking lot, only about 6-8 spaces, and there wasn't any staff visible, so you couldn't really ask any questions. Muddy when I was there, so bring appropriate shoes. Now all that said its, free (donations accepted). So I'm not going to complain about something that was free that I did get some satisfaction out of, even if I wasn't fully satisfied.

Their cider is some of the best in the area - I don't know what blend of apples they use, but it works well with a nice balance of sweet and tart. While there, you might as well pick up a few pumpkins and gourds, corn stalk sheaves, and colorful Indian corn (my favorite fall decorations), and if so inclined, tromp through the corn maze. The place is wonderfully bucolic and scenic on a sunny day, and a lot of fun for the youngsters to pick out their favorite pumpkins. There used to be a herd of llamas there, but sadly, SHSH is only down to one this year. It's also nice to visit in late winter, around February, when the tree sap is running, and watch them sugar off - terrific maple syrup can be had here (and quieter in the winter with more time to chat with the proprietors). Shelley and her staff worked incredibly hard to create a beautiful setting- soft draped fabric along the ceiling, twinkling lights and lush greenery all around. It felt like spring, it was warm, intimate and absolutely perfect for a bridal shower (or baby shower, birthday party, etc). They were so accommodating and easy to work with. They welcomed our ideas for decorations and games and gave us the flexibility to make the event feel personal and special for our guest of honor. Shelley was an excellent communicator and as the event drew closer she worked with me on the specific menu, number of tables/chairs, linens and more. I never felt stressed and knew the party would be handled perfectly and we were in good hands. The owner and her staff prepared all the delicious brunch food, it was a lovely spread with a large variety to please every guest. A good time was had by all and our bride-to-be felt thoroughly celebrated and special in this lovely setting. If you are looking for a unique, cozy and beautifully styled venue - especially in the winter months, I highly recommend hosting an event here. Not surprisingly, the wine bottles were on the more expensive side but were good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They told us to wonder about the estate and sit wherever we like and they would find us with the wine and glasses and that's exactly what they did. The staff also opened up one of the large window doors so we can have the perfect hybrid of inside and outside. We tried a couple of their flatbreads and they were tasty and paired well with the wine. This establishment has hotel rooms upstairs and is often used for events, including weddings. Overall, it's a beautiful vineyard that you can lounge in for many hours. Staff said it gets very busy on the weekends but on a Monday there was so much room and serenity.

A very Rhode island…read morefestival Johnny Cakes have been around for a while, in fact most historians say they have been around in one form or another for centuries. Even though many places on the east coast have Johnny Cakes, Rhode island is traditionally given as the place where they originated or at least became popular. So what better place than Rhode Island to have a Johnny Cake Festival Just fried corn meal with some salt, hot water and perhaps some sugar, it is amazing how many different types have showed up. Lots of subtle differences and of course everyone claims theirs are the best. Actually the festival was a lot more than just Johnny Cakes and in the whole festival I only saw one vendor actually selling Johnny Cakes. The lines were so long that we didn't even bother and stuck with the lobster rolls, clam chowdah, clam cakes and kettle corn. So much food around that there was no way you were going hungry even without the Johnny Cakes. Some cool critters like sheep, goats and alpacas were around and lots of skillful artists spinning, carving, wefting, blacksmithing, weaving, and painting. A whole bunch of very talented and fascinating folks still knowledgeable about some anachronistic arts. Some great music and several environmental groups were around to entertain and of course lots of traditional and cool food and crafts. The location was lovely with a pleasant pond and several canals and waterfalls. The parking wasn't bad because they wasn't any. Everyone parked at the old fairground three miles away and were shuttled in by old school buses. Actually made it less chaotic. A cool festival and place to learn about New England arts, crafts, history and of course food. It was kind of curious that there weren't more Johnny Cakes. Lots of cool & eclectic vendors mostly skewered towards the uniquness of the Ocean State. Lots of food & Johnny Cakes too but I didn't have any. Two of my local favorites had a presence there: Grey Sail & Dave's Coffee. There was also live music. I got to sample some pumpkin flavored whiskey from Sons of Libtery that made me want more. I'd drink whiskey but my wife says I turn into a different person so I'll wait for them to release their Dave's Coffee syrup flavored vodka! The only drawback is that transportation to get to the actual festival. Even though you have to take a cramped school bus to get there it's definitely worth & I'll be taking my family for years to come.

Wedding planning is exhausting in ways I didn't expect, and I'd already dealt with enough unresponsive vendors and confusing contracts to make me want to elope. Falls Creek Farm was just... different. From the first tour, it felt organized and warm. They have put so much care into this property and it shows. The team is extremely responsive. They answer questions without making you feel like a burden. The property is 300 acres and absolutely stunning. It is so I'm gonna hack you picturesque. They are extremely flexible and give you the opportunity to bring your wedding to life and make sure it's exactly as you envision it. Our guests are still talking about it. If you're in the middle of planning and feeling the stress, go take a tour. It was the first time during the whole process that I actually felt excited instead of overwhelmed.

The footing inside the show indoor desperately needs to be redone. It has several high and low…read morespots and gets very hard after so many horses traveling on it without dragging. They also need to put a stop to allowing horses to be cross tied in the isle during busy shows. It's not only a massive fire hazard, but also created unnecessary blocks of foot traffic. It was so disappointing that every isle you turned down there was a horse blocking the isle. I'm surprised the fire department allows this! Additionally, the wash stalls seemed to plugged up with inches of water Thursday thru Sunday. The wash stalls were essentially useless leaving people to fight over other wash stalls.. and why do you have double wash stalls with only one hose?! My final recommendation would be to add a warmup ring next to the front outdoor show ring. It created a dangerous situation where people had tents and chairs set up in the same area horses where trying to warm up for their classes. People traffic and horse traffic in the same space is a guarantee liability issue. On a good note, the property is very well maintained and is a beautiful place to drive through. I appreciate the meticulous maintenance! Lastly, the outdoor lunge ring and warmup ring had excellent footing.
