    Parmesan-roasted oysters.

Delicious food and great service! We loved how close-knit the community is and how genuine and helpful they all were at Capt E's! The food was great! The most spectacular thing we ate were the Parmesan roasted oysters (see picture). If you are anywhere close to Saxis and Capt E's, it is worth the drive! We even had our almost 3 year old and 3 month old with us and the staff was GREAT with both of them!!! Our son LOVED the Mac n cheese!

This place is a hidden gem in Saxis! The restaurant is small but has an inside and outside bar. The outside bar is in a nautical setting with chairs in the sand facing the bay. Real cozy! My sister and I had take out for lunch and it was absolutely scrumptious! We shared two platters. One was a crab cake sandwich with French fries. The crab cake was loaded with large chunks of crabmeat on a potato roll. It was lightly fried and had very little filler. One of the best crab cakes that I have tasted on the Eastern Shore! The second platter had six nicely sized, fried shrimp. You could tell that the shrimp very pretty fresh. Our sides included French fries and pasta salad. The fries seemed to be fresh cut and the pasta salad was also pretty good. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The only bathrooms that I saw were two porta-potties...yikes! My sister has a summer home in Saxis and this hidden gem is so close to her house that I know we will be back!

A hidden treasure of the Eastern Shore!!! Amazing food, and eclectic surroundings!! A must visit, and well worth many return trips!!! Seafood was fresh and perfectly prepared, and the potato salad only lacked one thing ... that there wasn't a triple helping of it!!

Cute seafood shack with outdoor beach /bar that is next to the dock or dine inside ( small dining room) The seafood chowder soup was amazing . Wasn't crazy about the old bay wings being they were batter fried but that is my preference not to have the added breading . I had the crab cake sandwich hubby had the dinner . I would have preferred the dinner didn't like the roll that the crab cake was on . The coleslaw was good. I shared the smith island cake with my sister in law again not a fan . This is a regional favorite but just not for me too sweet .. all in all would go again not cheap but tasty .

I was making a pit stop on my way to OCMD so I decided to make a mini trip out of it. I planned…read moreahead and decided on Bill's for dinner. Parking was easy. There is a small lot behind the restaurant. It was easy and there was plenty of parking since it was the off season. I did not have a reservation but, I was seated as a party of one pretty quick. The tables were draped with white table cloths, a nice table side light, sweeteners, tall clear glasses with a black napkin and tall salt and pepper shakers. The walls were a darker and lighter gray, hues of black and whites scattered throughout. I was in love with the old photos and the black and white prints throughout. There was a stunning glass sculpture hanging from the center of the dining room. It maybe a Chihuly glass chandelier. If it is not it resembles it. Hues of amber, orange and whites. My waitress came over within a few minutes and took my drink order. She informed me of the specials and brought over some bread, butter and herbed oil. I just had to try the cream of crab. On the menu it states it's a tight lipped recipe. The cream of crab was delicious. They have done their own spin on it. It came out piping hot. It had a slight kick to it, as if there was some sort of pepper in it... jalapeño? Could just be regular ground pepper. Overall, it was pretty good. My meal came with a choice of salad. It was either a garden salad, Caesar salad or tropical salad. I ordered the garden salad with ranch dressing. The salad was ok. Nothing to rave about. It had shoestring carrots, two cherry tomatoes and 2-3 types of lettuce. It did the job. I had the waitress choose my main dish for me. I could not decide. It was between the stuffed shrimp (stuffed with crab imperial), or the crab cakes. I opted for the vegetable of the day which was green beans. My waitress surprised me with stuffed shrimp, broiled. I'm so glad she went with the broiled vs fried option. She said it was the best way to go. The crab imperial was creamy and flavorful. The shrimp were a little on the smaller side. I personally did noThe green beans were nicely seasoned. For dessert I had the waitress choose agin. A choice between their strawberry shortcake which was a special, white chocolate coconut cream pie, or the vanilla crème brûlée. She chose well, the coconut cream pie. It was so good! I saw other tables around me being delivered their food and everything looked really good. This place is definitely a popular eatery. They will remain on the list to come back.

The tropical salad is a real treat. Soups are served hot and the crab soup is a favorite. Main course of beef, seafood or chicken with an "island" flair will delight you. This is our "special " night out dinner spot.

You reach the second floor via steep, narrow steps (about 30) with one hand rail. Assume third floor is similar. Not senior citizen friendly. Fortunately she survived the fall, with some damage to her knee and bruising all over. Local rescue squad was prompt and professional. Ownership never reached out to us which is disappointing. Where before a breakfast was included each morning of your stay, you now are offered 15% off you breakfast, but more on that later. The dining area is a fraction its former charm, but still charming. The dinner menu is pretty good and both of our dinners each night of our stay there were excellent. For this reason I have given two stars. It would be impossible to say the same about breakfast. In one location, an 8AM breakfast opening was listed. Our Welcome Letter stated 830AM was the opening time. Neither time mattered, because on both mornings the Breakfast service wasn't even open. The entry to it was locked up like an after hours NYC Subway entrance. Saturday morning no human being could be found. We even went back at 10AM to see if it had opened yet, with no change. Sunday morning it was locked up, but there a woman behind the bar to give our key to as we checked out. On both mornings we had breakfast elsewhere. We stay at the hotel for special occasions, and this stay was no exception. Staying at the Charlotte Hotel and not having to leave it was always something we appreciated and looked forward to during the previous dozen or so times we had stayed there before. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be coming back.
