I decided to drop by here for lunch yesterday after having passed by this restaurant for several months now. I'm glad that I did decide to come in for what is one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. I arrived alone at around 1:00 PM. The dining area was about half full and the server had me seated fairly quickly. The server was polite and welcoming and got my order in fairly quickly as well. The menu had plenty of options but was not overloaded to where I needed to review it a few times over to make my decision for what I wanted to eat and drink. My drink only took a couple of minutes to prepare and my meal was prepared about 10 minutes. The food was flavorful and not overly spicy. The portions were plentiful making the price point a great value. My experience at this restaurant was so good that I recommended it to a friend. My friend decided that he wanted to try the restaurant a couple of hours after I had my meal. I came back because I was excited to see what his reaction would and he was as pleased as I was! He loved the food so much he decided to put in a takeout order for his dad who he was going to visit after finishing up at the restaurant. Decided to try this place and sadly, we were not the biggest fans. Our server and host was really friendly, the time it took to get our food wasn't horrible but it was the food itself. We got the lumpia to start and it was okay! Crispy and just pork filling. The pork adobo was not the best, it was salty and overly soupy. The meat was tender though! It wasn't our preference. The sisig wasn't just pork belly, it had probably some pork head (I found a piece of snout) and as much as some Filipinos love that, I do not. I lost my appetite after that. I had not been here since it was under previous ownership and a different name but same food genre... is that what it's called? Food Genre? Anyways, stopped in finally. It was a late lunch/early dinner. Usually I don't like being the only customers in a restaurant but given the time of day, I was the only hungry person in Tacoma. We were immediately greeted by friendly staff. The inside looked like it had been updated a bit, the floor looks like it may still be a work in progress... but things take time and that doesn't affect the food. I had the chicken adobo. Man! That gravy/sauce was amazing. I couldn't help but think of other things I could put that stuff on (loco moco immediately came to to mind). It was so good. My girl ordered the pancit. The pancit came with two different types of noodles, pork belly, and shrimp. It was very tasty as well. I was used to only having pancit with the rice noodles but I believe the other more thick noodles were egg noodles. Either way, it was very good. Now, we started out with the lumpia. I like to think I know good lumpia, and these lumpia definitely did not disappoint. We will absolutely be back because there are a few more things on that menu that I need to eat. I went to dinner here this evening and was impressed. The first thing I was impressed with the welcoming ADA entrance for my wheelchair. It just got better from there. The food was so delicious! From the Lechon plate, burrito, ube waffles with garlic fish sauce wings- everything was so flavorful. Even my picky 9-year old enjoyed the food. The ube horchata was also so yummy. Loved the creativity of each dish on the menu. Service was also excellent. Unfortunately while they have some filipino dishes, but unfortunately whole tasted decent, they are not authentic. We got sisig (with pork belly), savory and edible, but it's not crunchy. The portion is fairly small as well As for halo-halo, it tasted bland for a dessert. Shaved ice is very rough almost like crushed ice instead of shaved ice. The jellies etc toppings are too little. It is located in McKinley area and have limited food options but this is a cool spot. Paying homage to their Filipino culture, they have art work and show the Philippines on the tv screens. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and the place was pretty full, always a good sign. The atmosphere felt warm and homey, like a true Filipino spot. We started with the lumpia, which were super fresh and had a perfect meat to wrapper ratio; crispy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The longganisa was really good. Sweet, savory, and well caramelized. Reminds me of home! And the garlic rice was absolute fire' The tapa was a bit dry and could use just a bit more marinade, maybe a touch more garlic or vinegar to really make it pop. As a Filipina, it was a must to try this place out! My husband and I loved the food, staff, and ambiance here. For food, we ordered the longanisa which came with eggs (can be scrambled or sunny side up) and fried rice. Fried rice was a bit too salty vs garlic. We also ordered the palabok (can be crunchy noodles or soft noodles). Palabok sauce came separately and tasted great. Lechon was juicy and crunchy. Noodles melted perfectly and werent soggy with the sauce. For drinks, we ordered the calamansi iced tea and ube horchata. The ube horchata was too sweet while the calamansi iced tea was just right. I'm always looking for good lechon, and I think I found one here. Highly recommend the Lechon Belly $23, which comes with lechon, sunny side egg and adobo rice. The skin is so crunchy, almost too crunch when it's hot. Believe it or not, the skin remained crunchy when I had it cold later that day. The homemade sauce is so good, tasted fresh, not overly salty and binds all the components together. Service is stellar. The young waiter is very friendly with recommendation. I came to visit Lechon Loco for a Yelp Elite event a few weeks ago. I received a complementary calamansi tea and lumpia. The lumpia served here is the closest thing to how my late mother made it and it just soothes my heart a little. The calamansi tea was a refreshing take on ice tea. The business had a few customers on a weekday evening. The server was friendly and attentive. I was a big fan of the salmon, but it was a little overcooked for preference. The sauce and the veggies with the salmon with rice were such delightful bites. The pollo ala parilla was great too. My husband had a preference for this one. I loved the sauce for this dish. My husband's critique was he wished the garlic rice had more of a garlic taste. The portions sizes were generous and we had enough for leftovers for the following day. I would definitely recommend this place! I'm excited to bring my Filipino father to try out this restaurant in the near future. I ordered the Ube Iced Coffee was creamy, not too sweet and smooth. In addition I also ordered the Pork Bagnet Chicharon and the Pasta Con Camarones "Palabok Style". The Chicharon were crispy , but the pork melted in my mouth. The guava chili jam was sweet and tangy. I didn't get a lot of chili heat, but it was still really good. The place is not that big, you can't miss it, the building is black and it's in the corner of the street, very visible. We went after 1pm and it was not busy. We got a table right away. The menu has Filipino, and Mexican dishes. We opted for the lumpias, Calamansi ice tea, palabok noodles, chicken/pork adobo with garlic rice. Cute little spot! Parking is limited, so make sure you time your visit right. We went before 11 a.m. on a Sunday morning, and there were only two tables occupied--so yay! They had late 90s and early 2000s music playing, so you already know the vibe was great. I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but it doesn't have any photos of the dishes, so we used their social media or food reviewers for reference. When our food came, it was exactly as described on the menu, so don't worry too much about that. I'm sure whatever you choose will taste exquisite. The customer service was friendly and attentive. It's a bit pricey, but in my opinion, the nostalgia in both the food and atmosphere made it a wonderful experience. I would definitely go back to try more of their menu. OK so I don't cook or order pancit in a restaurant normally because 1. I don't know how to make it for less than 12 people and there's only two people in the house and 2. if I can cook it, I don't usually order it. Anyway: believe me when I say that this place is making my mommy's pancit. The only thing it's missing is maybe snow peas and chinese sausage. But the taste is my mother's. I really enjoyed this place. I think a good Filipino restaurant in the Tacoma area is hard to come by. So I was very happy to try this place and I have to say it was well worth the price. The people were nice, the restaurant was clean and tidy, and the food was great. The Lechon was delicious and comes with Atchara (a delicious papaya salad). The lumpia was also impressive, and they make their own lumpia sauce which was also pretty yummy. Our favorite part about our visit was the bibingka and the churro ice cream. I know everyone makes their bibinkga differently, but this stood out. And the churro ice cream was a fantastic touch and paired well with the bibingka. Been following everything I could about this restaurant on their social media as well as what news I could find as a Filipino restaurant in Tacoma is super exciting! I came here with my mother (but will come here with my Filipino boyfriend) to try them out! We were able to find parking luckily and we also were lucky to grab the last seat as they had a full house inside. Our waiter welcomed us very warmly and professionally before grabbing some menus and then taking us over to the table. The table had little mats with utensils and at the wall end of the table had condiments, sauces, and little sauce dishes. The walls had some art on them with yellow and green paint on the walls. I felt the decor was cute and gives vibes of street eateries, which also feels amplified with street food videos at the Philippines playing on the TVs. The bathroom is all gender too as they had a urinal and toilet as well as a baby changing area. Our waiter did a great job checking in on tables and providing the same hospitality he showed us to everyone else. The check ins were less frequent once the restaurant was getting empty, but I am impressed with how fast they cleaned up tables once they get cleared. When I told him that I was a Yelp Elite and here for the event, he immediately told me that he would get me the Calamansi iced tea and got the lumpia getting made for me. We ended up ordering the lechon belly and a little later we got the ube iced coffee. The drinks were very refreshing and not overly sweet, which made us very happy as more often you get overly sweet drinks. Also, I noticed not one review mentioned their complimentary chips and salsa but I learned from the waiter that you can ask for it and they will provide it. Additionally, they will refill it for you too! The salsa didn't really have anything memorable but it's a complimentary so I'm not really going to say it was a negative. The lechon is by far one of the best that I have had in Washington. The stuffing they put in the lechon, especially the lemongrass, is such a burst of umami!
