Expensive for what you get. We ordered through Doordash, arrived in timely fashion. When we started opening cartons, very disappointed in amount of food for price. Really bad when you get cheese sticks soaked in wing hot sauce because they did not put a lid on sauce and they provided hot sauce instead of marinara sauce. Ordered "Pig Wings" but they only send one. Not in description, would not have ordered for price. Flavors were common place and prices were high. Won't order from there again. read more

This was the most horrific dining experience. The food and service was of the lowest quality that you could imagine. The sad part of the whole evening was when it was brought to managements attention the party of 8 at my table was told by Calli that "if you don't like it then you can leave , you know where the door is" Needless to say we all payed our bill in full but we will not be back to Captain Archie's I asked for the owner and or a superior but was told that " Calli " was the only management. Bummed again... As a local, I really really want Ian to succeed. He's been a staple in this area for years. My first visit was right after opening and the food was, well disappointing and the prices for the quantity, high. But I chalked it up to being new and needing some time to work out the kinks. So tonight.. At 7p.. Not crazy busy peak time, I thought I'd try it again. After sitting at the bar, not a packed one mind you, for 10 minutes.. I watched the bartender eat a customers pizza and walk past me twice.. Not offering to take my order. At that point, I'm taking my local dollars elsewhere. Really, no excuse. I just wanted a beer and some dinner. I'm disappointed cause I really want Ian to succeed. Hope they make it during off season cause then without local business, you're doomed. read more

Went here last night for the 1st time...we had a great meal. This is a good example of not judging a book by its cover. I didn't think I was going to like it at all. We walked through the restaurant and checked out the exterior bar - where there was entertainment. Looked good outside but decided to sit inside. The waitress was great. She was unsure of what items on the menu would be gluten free so she sent the owner Ian over. He was so nice and more than willing to accommodate my dietary needs. We shared the grilled wings with the gold sauce. It was yummy. The other owner Marc came over and sent an order of fish bites to our table. Everyone enjoyed them. The 2 guys had fish tacos, my friend had the pulled pork and I had a cheeseburger without the bun. Everyone enjoyed their meals. This is a great local place. We will definitely be back. read more

We love this place. Food has always been really good. They have a great happy hour menu you can get full from. The entrees could feed two or take home for lunch the next day. Word of caution. The outside bar is the main attraction. It gets really busy.there are normally only two bartenders and they can get busy fast. The crowd is on the older side. Our first bar in NMB met friends there. Went bar hopping and always ended up there for some reason. Crowded and fun. Mostly adults. Great bands every night. Servers are super. Bartenders are amazing. You never wait for anything. No short pours. Never made it inside but presume all is as good. One rainy Sunday was biker day. Packed again even in the drizzle. All the foods we had were excellent and brought out directly from the kitchen not sitting under a light waiting for someone to pick them up. You see how many bars there are in NMB. If you are mediocre you ain't getting the tourist buck. You might get it once. But every day we ended up at Archie's. read more

Here on vacation. My husband and I both got the grilled chicken sandwich baskets (fries and onion rings). The fries and onion rings were good. The whole experience was nothing at all to write home about. The bread was soggy and I kept having to pick pieces of chicken out of my mouth because the meat was chewy. At 7:30 on a Sunday evening, we came in the door and immediately did not know whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Opting to seat ourselves, when the waitress came to the table we told her we were not sure whether to seat ourselves or not. We were told guests seat themselves and that usually someone would come by eventually to take their order. That was warning sign number one. The lack of shrimp to order peel and eat was another which seemed odd since the low country boil still had shrimp in it. The last straw was the $20 for crab legs which were cold when they arrived and not from being left too long after cooking. They were still cold from not being cooked long enough to make them warm. It was a disappointment from the first to the last moment. When the best thing you can say is that the bathroom was clean, that is not exactly a recommendation for a place to eat. read more

We were brought drinks pretty fast and the food came out reasonable fast. I ordered the steamed clams and they were rather small for a dinner. Other people in our party had the seafood broil, seared tuna, buffalo flatbread and a burger. They all loved it and the portions were good size. The staff was nice and very helpful with questions. Off the beaten path from fast food laden Route 17, Ian's is a waterside oasis close enough to the Intercoastal Waterway to cast a fishing rod. Known for their burgers and flounder, we feasted on Ian's signature island shrimp, fish tacos with siracha sauce, clams and mussels in garlic and wine, steamed shrimp, fish bites, golden wings, and their "hawg shank". We loved Ian's so much we almost stayed for dinner. Diamond service from Heather added to our experience and makes me want to return soon. read more

Last night was the final time for us. We've been to Ian's many times. Initially, it was terrific. Great food and affordable happy hour choices. Then, they changed the menu. Went back three times after the menu change and each time it got worse. Last night, the hubby and I decided to give it one more try. We love the location and the crowd is generally great (as well as the service). Unfortunately, this was not the case last night. We sat at the bar and ordered food. I had the flounder and my husband the shrimp. Neither were very good - soggy, lacking in taste. The bartender was very inattentive. No one ever asked how our food was and no one commented when the food was removed. I've owned a restaurant. I've been a server. I've been a bartender. I always asked how things were - especially if a customer left most of their meal on the plate! I don't think our bartender said five words to us for the ninety minutes we were there. In addition, there was a noticeably intoxicated gal at the bar across from us who was increasingly loud and rude. She truly should have been cut off and asked to keep her voice down (offensive language and racial slurs). This place used to be our regular spot for a cheap bite and great atmosphere but we will have to reconsider that now. read more
