When I returned the rotten crabmeat, I just wanted to exchange it for something else and I didn't even ask for a refund. J&C Fish Market in Elmont would not give me the credit to exchange it, even after knowing that I have been a loyal customer for over 20 yrs!! Unbelievable!! I've spent thousands of dollars over the course of 20+yrs at J&C Fish Market in Elmont. They do not appreciate loyal customers at all!! We were off to a good start. The wait staff was attentive and regularly checked on us to see if we needed anything. The manager came out a few times to check on us, and the owner even stopped by to check on us and chat for a while. We were a party of 7 so I do not recall what everyone ordered, but I know everyone was very happy with what they ordered. I ordered the mussels in wine sauce and shared it with the others and everyone thought it was very good. There was also raw oysters from the North Shore that I thought were very good, but I am not a connoisseur of fine oysters like my cousin and mother. They both told me how great they thought the oysters were. I also had the grilled whole porgy and thought it was very nicely done with some blackening seasoning. All in all, was a great night with family I don't get to see often, and the staff and owner of Artie's deserve all the credit for for making it a great night. They all seemed happy to have us there, even though we stayed until past closing. I would definitely go there again when I am down on Long Island.
