I stopped here for some salmon. I was amazed at this place. Inside they have bins of whole fresh caught fish. There are tongs and plastic bags for you to pick what you want. After picking, you can go around back and they will clean it for you. The salmon was delicious, nice, fresh and delicious. I've had their shrimp and flounder as well and they too were delicious. While I was paying, I saw that I was overcharged, and so I asked the worker to weigh the fish again, and he too noticed i was overcharged by 24 dollars. I was reeling to try the location for fresh fish since moving to LI. I went here on a Sunday afternoon and hour before it closed so unfortunately I didn't get to fillet anything but my experience was still worth the while. I picked up a variety of fish for the Lent season and it lasted me a pretty long time. Staff is friendly and it can get crowded, so I would suggest going earlier before closing to get fillets outside and more variety. There are several on the strip but I stopped at this one first. Disappointed! The guys in the back that filet/clean the fish wouldn't let me stay in the waiting area while they did their work. Went back 10 minutes later as they asked... $5 tip instead of the $10 I usually give them. Bad attitude penalty! The filets were all in one bag. Usually each type of fish is in a different bag. I bought three types. To top it off..... I bought 5 whole fish....ended up with 8 fillets. Do the math! Should have been 10. I won't be going there again. Something fishy going on!!! While stopping in Freeport in May, my daughter thought I would get a kick out of seeing this fresh fish market located along the Nautical Mile. (A) because it was so many kinds of fish.... and..... (B) because it was fresh. Even though I live in Los Angeles and can get to the beach with ease, the truth is, L.A. is not known for fresh fish markets, restaurants or otherwise. Sure, they exist, but it's not a common thing nor a commodity like other ocean-based cities, such as San Francisco, Seattle, Boston or anywhere else along the Eastern seaboard, so she brought me in here. As evidenced by all the photos I took, you can see I was impressed by all that fish and seafood. Wow !! I don't have a point of comparison to know how this store is priced, but I wasn't going to buy any fish either. I was just being a tourist and enjoying it all. To be honest, if it's really good quality, not to mention, FRESH.....I don't mind paying more for that. I stopped in on Saturday and the line was out the door. Forget social distancing, people are on top of each other. I asked for jumbo crabs and the worker points me to the crabs at $8.99 a pound. They were tiny, anything but jumbo. I asked him where the Jumbos were and he said those are the jumbos. The guys in the back cleaning your fish (if you need them to) are also fantastic. Tip them well because it's a tough job, but someone has to do it. I was highly recommended to patronize this establishment by a friend I traveled all the way from Brooklyn to be treated rudely by the guys who cleaned the fish. I purchased nearly $200 dollars worth of fish the nice gentlemen carried it to the back to be cleaned and the guy saw that I had money in my hand which was only $5 so I gave it to him as a tip, he says that was not enough because he's cleaning a lot of fish, there's a clear sign that states tips are accepted not obligated !!! I complained to the owner and he tells me they work independently and they are not affiliated with them are you kidding me !! I've been going to Two Cousins for years since Fiore Brothers closed after Sandy. All was well then all of a sudden they wouldn't let anyone wait in the fish cleaning area. I used to spend on average $100. A visit. My last visit I bought 2 Lbs of jumbo shrimp for 25 dollars and after cleaning I was sure the package was "Lite" (missing product) I let it go being I was in a hurry. This Friday July 5th again I bought 2 Lbs jumbo shrimp and took them to the cleaning station I sat in the car / my wife came with the cleaned shrimp and immediately I knew I was robbed ! I told her to go back in the "front to have it put on the scale again" on the way in one of the workers said what is wrong? She explained and handed him the bag he said you're write this is not 2 Lbs. then the "big guy" white hair / mustache who sits behind the register says lets weigh it. From 2.04 Lbs it weighed 1.6 Lbs almost 1/2 lbs "disappeared into thin air" he then tells her the most bogus story about how cleaning them the "heads, poop, and shells" is why almost half a pound was missing. I went back into the Fish market myself and he tried the same bogus excuse on me , except I'm a fishing fanatic and am good at sizing up weight. I put the cleaned shrimp on the scale and told him "these are shrimp tails, no heads and that shells are paper thin weighing nothing" if anyone has ever cleaned shrimp, I have and use the shells to make stock they are almost weightless ! So I told him at this rate your employees go home with pounds of everyone elses products. I made it clear I was disappointed, furious and would find another vendor. Don't get robbed, either stand In the cleaning area or just go to another vendor. His seafood is just as fresh as any other vendor. I walked in with my baby who is two months old in a stroller and he orders me to put the baby on the side with no politeness or courtesy. Today as my first time buying fish from this place ,due to the reviews and ratings on here. When I first walked in everything was going well. The older gentleman gave me a warm welcome and even offered me free samples of the seafood salads they had available. He was incredibly helpful. He's the only reason I even gave this place 2 stars. Things went down hill when we went to the back where they clean and filet the fish. BE PREPARED TO HAVE THE GUYS RUDELY BEG FOR TIPS. One of them also claimed they work for tips like they don't get paid any other way. The other man implied that them cutting ans cleaning the fish isn't free like the man at the register told us. The men who works in the back are no where near as gracious as the older gentleman. The guy that was working on our fish kept offering to sell us fish scraps left over from previous customers for a really "good price". I wonder if the man in the front is aware of this hustle that's going on in the back. Overall the workers in the back were extremely rude and left a really bad taste in my mouth. My friend told me the fish here was super fresh and they had branzino. I am a big branzino, Mediterranean snapper, fan. So, I drove all the way from Brooklyn to Long Island for fish. And I must say it was worth the drive. I bought 3 Branzino fish, all a pretty good size. They were 7.99/lb and came up to $45. I repeat, it was worth it. Clear bags are provided to place your fish in and you go to the front for them to weigh it. After paying, you go around back where they will clean your seafood, fish, shrimp to your liking. I had my fish cleaned, head on and butterflied. The counters are low enough so you can see the workers clean your items. The workers were very personal with customers you could tell they were the regulars. The staff was extremely friendly. After I cooked my fish and took my 1st bite, I cant remember eating fish so fresh in such a long time. It was amazing. I will travel here any day to buy their seafood. They get 5+ starts from me.
