Well I have them another try today and ordered half a dozen " colossal" crabs with spicy and garlic seasoning. Well...let's say it's definitely was better than the last time I came. Now I believe they gave me some that was already cooked...but at least they were cooked right. BUT...again the crabs were miss labeled AGAIN...Smdh. I have a crab ruler and they were on the small size of premium crabs. So again can you all stop saying they are one size when they are not!?! Now the seasoning was fire and I'm glad I asked about other flavors because the garlic and spicy seasoning is definitely where's its at!! Now I have them an extra star because I had brought my baby Jade a yorkie with me and Bob was nice and was given her treats which she enjoyed. That was very nice. I will god back to them only because of how the crabs were cooked and tasted. But...I will ask to see the crabs beforehand and make sure they cook them fresh because I do not want any crabs already cooked and don't know how long they were sitting. read more

Ordered this past weekend a half bushel of number 1's. Spent $110 on some soggy crabs. My family and I were so disappointed. Every single crab had mushy meat inside and a lot of them had liquid coming out of them when cracking them open. Will not be coming back to this establishment. read more

Very very disappointing experience. We purchased 2 dozen blue crabs from Capt Bob's a few week ago for $85. The young lady gave us an already prepared bag off the floor of the food truck. My big mistake was going any further with the purchase and not questioning if they were fresh. Especially when they had a sign posted stating no returns or refunds, which I didn't notice until I went back for the free dozen. I'm use to them coming out of the pot freshly cooked. We measured all the shells and they measured 5-5 1/2 from point to point. They were definitely not large. Six were black inside and definitely bad, the rest were light with light grey lungs and the meat was mushy. They didn't smell bad but certainly weren't very appetizing to eat. I called Bob's right after we got through them hoping they were going to get better, which they definitely did not. Bob told me he had no control over what they looked like inside, said he never heard of mushy crab meat and what did I want him to do. I said we'd like our money back or the crabs replaced. Bob said he only makes $5.00 per dozen crabs so he couldn't give us our money back but he'd give us a dozen free crabs the next weekend. I sent him pictures of the bad ones and of the lungs on the ones you could eat. Bob did make good on giving us a free dozen the next weekend but eleven were still small (5-5 1/2) and only one large (6 in). They still had very little crab meat in them, but at least the lungs weren't that disgusting grey color. Needless to say, we wish him the best of luck but we won't be buying crabs from him again. We'll go back to where we usually go, even though we have to drive a lot further. read more

Been going to Bob's about 7 years now, and regardless of what they say, it continues to be hit or miss when talking quality... Now with prices at $60 per dozen, might be time to try someone else...Those who have gone regularly and praise each time, have been extremely lucky... I am so disappointed ! This was actually my first time visiting Bobs. I stopped by after leaving the dollar tree! To start , I eat crabs literally weekly. I am a faithful customer of another location in Woodbridge that never disappoints. I decided to branch out today and try a new place for Mother's Day as she LOVES crabs. Too bad she was completely disappointed and I had to scramble to get another meal for her. When I arrived they stated it was 60 a dozen for medium males and he even stated they are medium / large . It's Mother's Day so I figured why not. He grabbed the bag from the floor so I inquired on if they were fresh , I'm used to seeing my crabs bagged straight the pot . He reassured they were recently bagged. Let's get to the point . ALL the crabs were basically spoiled except one. There was a perfect 12 , no extra add ins which I'm used to having to cover potential bad or light crabs being mixed in. 11 out of 12 crabs were grayed out all the way to the meat. They were so light , not even one crab was heavy. My mom was disgusted . The first 6 we worked through hoping each crab the next one would be better. After we got to crab 7 we just started opening the bodies up to check and they were all grey . It was no way those were fresh crabs. 11 out of 12 . I just don't understand . I actually have never had an experience like this before . It's crabs . It happens .. but 11 out of 12? I've had this happen before and had the crabs replaced but the fact that we couldn't even enjoy a couple of them was very disappointing. I'm not rich.. and 60.00 just went down the drain for Mother's Day. read more

Found these guys on Yelp today. I've been craving crabs and the Wharf in DC has been very disappointing. Driving down to Woodbridge today i figured I'd see if there were any crab places around. Fortunately there was one literally right next to the place i was going so i gave it a try. I got a half bushel of medium crabs. Im pretty sure they gave me substantially more than half a bushel. I was happy with the price, crabs were good and the service was great. Good people- and good crabs. I'll be back for the #1's and some shrimp before crab season is over. They said they will be there til Oct 28 and return in March. read more

Since moving here from the Tidewater area it's been a hard transition without fresh seafood. One day my wife and I stumbled across a mobile seafood truck and my dreams were answered. I give this place 4 stars because their crabs are quality, but their hours are unreliable due to various circumstances. Best to call. They also carry shrimp and some other seafood options. Staff is friendly, and their house seasoning mix is top notch! I love it so much I find myself licking my fingers no old bay needed. :) BRING CASH. I liked the crabs, they was decent and for $35.00/ dozen, that's good for around here. My only negative is that some of the meat in a few of the crabs were soft and liquidy(if that's a word, lol). It gave it a mushy taste and I don't know if it's cause the crab wasn't cooked fully enough or that it was just a bad crab. Overall, I'll get crabs from them before Dale City Seafood. Bought a dozen of male crabs around 5 P.M on my way home from the Mall. Once I got home, so disappointed to find out that the crabs were cold and so light. So I recently discovered Captain Bobs about 1.5 months ago on Old Bridge Rd in Lake Ridge. The crabs are tasty and so I have been coming every weekend since. I give them 1 star because their customer service (or the lack thereof) is horrible. They hardly want to greet you even though I've spent probably a little over $500 at this place. The last straw was yesterday when apparently I purchased the last 2 dozen of crabs for the day. I asked for 2 rolls of crab paper and because the owner was in a deep conversation with the customer before me, he tried to push me off to someone else (who were all busy cleaning up). He basically acted like I was an inconvenience to him since he had to cut 2 rolls of paper for me. Well I am truly sorry that a paying customer that planned to give you a lot more business this summer interrupted your conversation!! To add insult to injury, I was shorted about 1/2 dozen of crabs which I didn't realize until today when I came home from work for what I thought would be a dinner with a "dozen" crabs! My son found Captain Bob's on yelp and told us we should give them a try. We were looking for a half bushel of number 1's and called our usual place but they were out since it was a holiday weekend. So we decided to drop in the day before we needed them because I've never ordered from a food truck and to be honest a little leery. This guy took time away from what he was doing to answer questions, even show us some of the fresh goods regardless of being busy making others orders-he did have a help with him. He told us with TS Hermine that he couldn't guarantee that he would have crabs to sell on the 4th when we needed them but told us he would know after 5am so just give him a call. We thanked him and he shook my husbands hand and we left. We called the next day and reserved a bushel. The crabs were well seasoned and had tons of meat and $40 less than most places. There is something to be said about people who take the time out for you. We paid cash but they do take credit cards just be mindful that they charge you the 6% tax and a $3 fee. read more
