My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after going to Ikea. We have two little ones that are toddlers. This place is great! The place is clean, bright, big, and open. So I went on a Tuesday afternoon around 3ish and it was really empty. I think there was only maybe 3 people in there besides the workers that was in there. When I did come in the girl at the front acted like something was funny when I said it's just me. Please get these kids to know how to greet guest. Just makes me sometimes want to say something because these young folks act like they don't know how to talk to people in real life...but I'll regress.. I wanted to try just about all they had to test out how they cook their seafood. So I got a pound of snow crabs, crawfish and whole shrimp. I tried the fire Cajun and garlic butter which wasn't good at all. The Cajun tasted a little sweet for my liking so maybe next time I'll just try the butter garlic. Seafood was cooked very well but was not hot enough for me maybe I should get double fire to maybe get a little kick. I visited here for the first time yesterday around opening. It was clean and looked really nice and decorative inside I would consider having a dinner party here. We had Assad as our server and he was amazing. He was very attentive, quick and nice. He explained things to us when we had questions and was very patient. I got the crab/shrimp seafood boil and my friend got the shrimp one and my other friend for crawfish to go. The potatoes in the boil were very blah and we could have done without potatoes and the corn. We also had calamari which I would not recommend, it just was very breaded and had more of a frozen boxed older feeling. The seafood was good I wish I had more crab but hey what can you do. Andddddd finally, the food. Yum, yum, and yuuuummmm! First, the presentation was wonderful. Your seafood boil comes in this inflated boil bag that looks like a "ballon parachute"... so cool! I ordered the "Summer Special" seafood boil- 1 pound snow crab legs, 1/2 pound headless shrimp (they clean the shrimp‍), 2 potatoes, and 2 corn. I got mine with medium spice and I choose "The Boom" seasoning for my boil, which is a combo of all their boil seasonings (Cajun, Garlic butter, and lemon pepper)... delicious ! I almost forgot to mention my favorite part. I decided to also try the lemon pepper wings (my favorite flavored wing). Man, oh man these wings were fantastic!!! We received a coupon in the mail, so we decided to give it a try! The restaurant is located at Potomac Mills, right next to The Cheesecake Factory (the building used to be Matchbox). We went on a Friday night around 6:30 p.m. and we were seated immediately as there was no wait. The restaurant is pretty spacious! (Upstairs and downstairs). Happy hour is until 7 p.m. and consists of drink specials. There was someone working on their draft machines that night, so draft beers were not available. However, there was a nice variety of options on the drink menu. We ordered a watermelon margarita, 2 crab boils, Cajun chicken wings, and onion rings. I recommend everything but the watermelon margarita! I got the combo of the 3 sauces on my boil at a medium spice level and it was delicious! I am always hesitant to order shrimp at these type of restaurants because it is usually over cooked, but the shrimp was cooked perfectly. My specific order was one of the daily specials which was half a pound of crab legs, half a pound of shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes. This was around $29 and I was very full. The Cajun wings were also a stand out food item. Crispy and seasoned such that you don't even need a dipping sauce. The service was slow at times, but it is a new restaurant and it seems like they are still trying to get into the flow of things. Our server was very kind and did his best to attend to our needs. This place used to be the old Matchbox so it's pretty big but wasn't too full. We ordered a few orders of crab cakes and calamari to start. The crab cakes were ok, a little mushy but flavor was good. They come two to an order. Calamari was nice and crispy, some were tough. We got the large seafood platter (mild and buttery garlic) with clams for the four of us to share. I agree with the main complaint that it can be salty but it was flavorful and came with a good amount of food. Was a little disappointed that it didn't come with sausage but it worked out. Overall the service was pretty friendly but I think staff is still getting used to the menu. The place is clean and obviously plenty of parking. Def my favorite seafood boil type place in the Woodbridge area. The food is consistently good- flavor (I go for the hot with all the flavors mixed- it's not too spicy if you're unsure that u can handle the burn). The service can be hit or miss, but mostly pretty good. First time I got the scallop app (my fave seafood), it was def a miss. Had to return. I'm glad I gave them another chance bc they've been yummy every time since then. Usually get one of the seafood boil deal combos they have on the menu and it's enough for 2 of us with an app. The reason I dinged them a star is that they will not ever allow me to substitute head on shrimp in the combos that include headless shrimp, even tho I am substituting with a cheaper item. Having said that, CC is one of the better seafood boil chains that I've partaken in. CC just recently opened in Woodbridge next to Costco & Cheesecake Factory. Parking is available in a ginormous shared lot. Since I just got back from New England & was still craving seafood, I decided to try CC... Here are the positive experiences I had & why I would come back for another meal: 1) The seafood was boiled properly. In other words, for the crab, when I cracked the shell, the meat didn't adhere to the shell (over cooked). Shrimp were plump & deveined although the shell & tail were left in tact. 2) The corn & potatoes were tender & not mushy. 3) The "Holiday Specials" on the menu will be available year round. In other words, even though it's called "Holiday", it will be on the menu PERMANENTLY. 4) The price point is very impressive. Hearty portions for the price! 5) Sauce is available in 3 flavors or the BOOM sauce which is a mix of Crafty Cajun (spicy), lemon pepper, & Buttery Garlic. 5) Employees were very friendly although not knowledgeable on the menu offerings. To be expected for a brand new establishment... Negative experience: 1) The sauces are WICKED SALTY!!!!!! I'm one who has a high tolerance for salt & usually sprinkle salt on my food before I even dig in. However, I was very weary of the sauce so I asked to have it on the side. I'm glad I did! The sauce is so salty that I couldn't even use it. Good thing the seafood was properly boiled in salted water... 2) While I personally have a crab cracker at home, I doubt most people do. Since the takeout bag didn't include a crab cracker/cutter, I wonder how most would eat their crab at home? My guess is just bash the crab with the back of a knife?? 3) Fried oysters are MINISCULE & really not worth ordering. They are not plump in my humble opinion. 4) My Holiday Dungeness Special is supposed to come with black mussels. I received NONE... I ordered the Holiday Dungeness Special with a side of clams & fried oysters with hush puppies. Don't let the photo I posted fool you. That's about 1/4 of the full order I received. My total for my order was $70. There is an outdoor seating area & the interior was clean & Inviting. The tables indoors are covered with CC paper which was a cute touch. Would I come back? Their manager over there is horrible horrible and terrible terrible person. Yesterday our friend's friend order a pick up order for us after sending us his name and screen shot . My husband went to their store to pick up. The manager said we cannot pick up our order because he can't accept screen shot he need see the DoorDash apps or the ordering person ID for some reason at that time we can't reach the friend. And we kind of understanding his concern. We waited about 30minutes during that time we try to reach our friend . But unfortunately we couldn't reach our friend. And my husband and I try to negotiate with the guy. His answer always no. He kept ask us to call our friends or reach DoorDash. As a manager he didn't show any service he didn't try to fix the problem, why he didn't call DoorDash to show his concern. And the point is they already made the order, they just put the food over there and didn't allow us to pick up. As we are immigrants so he can treat us like that we went to the store to speak to him at least four times. Over one hour we were really hungry we gave up the order over $129 before taxes. We can make sure at the end of day no one will pick the order. Maybe we are so hungry we should call police at that time but we didn't think about that . We took all lost . We lived in America 10 years this was first time to be treat like that . The manager did nothing help we asked to see owner he said No. He block all the possibility to solve the issue . Crafty crab recently opened in Woodbridge near Potomac Mills. There was plenty of seating inside, they also have an upstairs level as well as an outside covered patio. I cannot wait for warmer weather to sit out on the patio. We were seated right away as there was a very small crowd. We were greeted at the entrance and brought immediately to our table. It's a really nice restaurant (same layout as the old Matchbox) with both tables and booth seating. There are plenty of tv's throughout the restaurant in case there's a sporting event on. They also have a huge screen in the center of the restaurant behind the bar. Service was great! The staff was really nice and extremely attentive. We got our food almost immediately after ordering. The luxury of seafood! We ordered two boil bags. The Snow Crab Special (A), the Green/Black Mussel Special (B) and an order of crab fries! We both chose the Boom Sauce which is a combination of all the sauces. The Boom Sauce is good but, a little too much for my taste buds. Next time, ill probably still to one of the other flavors. Our boil bags came out nice and hot. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. The sausage wasn't my personal favorite as they used smoked sausage vice andouille. I personally don't like anything that is smoked! I wish there was a bit more sauce in the bag but, it was enough to dip my food in. This place is hit or miss unfortunately. Crabs can be fresh or clearly re-warmed multiple times that the meat inside the shell is dry. Boiled eggs are always over cooked no matter if you order when they first open or later in the day.
