Me and two of my girlfriends went here for an early dinner. We were not impressed. My shrimp were not deveined, therefore your bascially eating, poop, and I stopped eating them. to top it off, we ordered some desserts to go and when I got home, I found my cheesecake had MOLD on it, awful. I'll admit ordering the dessert to go wasn't a smart move after the initial meals weren't that great. I did call and report the mold on the dessert for what it's worth since we won't ever go back there again. I think this place needs BAR RESCUE to come in and fix it. read more

Florida folks like my family are mighty skeptical of seafood places too far inland, lol, but Captain Cook (& friendly server Macy) delivered delicious food. I had broiled tilapia and shrimp. Everything was tender & flavorful. My kiddo got the daily special: fried fish & shrimp. It was wonderful. What looked like onion rings were actually hush puppies, that were crispy on the out sight & savory-cornbread like inside. If ever we're in this neck of the woods (maybe to visit the Tank museum again!), we'll be back. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this place. When we pulled into the parking lot it was packed! We went on a Sunday evening around 5pm. However a lot of people were on their way out so we were seated in no time. Our waitress was attentive. We ordered the combination meals. I ordered the catfish and popcorn shrimp with okra and my friend got the crab cake, popcorn shrimp and tilapia. The food was hot and fresh when it got to the table, and was very good. I'd say this place is comparable to Mayflower. I'd visit again. read more

Went here for an early dinner. Ordered the popcorn shrimp and chopped sirloin specials. It was so much food we couldn't eat it all. It was delicious and hot. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks filled. Got a piece of coconut pineapple cake to go and I would go back just for the cake. read more

Great food. I am obsessed with their catfish & okra! Both the regular and salt and pepper fried catfish are fantastic.

Food was mediocre. Idk why they call it jumbo shrimp those things were small & store bought; not fresh. Our server barely let me sit down before she start asking me was I ready to order my main entree. It seemed more like fast food seafood than being considered a delicacy for the price. It was my first & last time; I won't be visiting there again. Fish still had bones in it. It was jam packed and our server showed she was weeded and overwhelmed. Barely checked on us and forgot essential items(dipping sauces. For my onion rings& hush puppies) Overall just not happy with the establishment & service. I'll drive to the coast before I go back here again. It felt like they just wanted us in and out as well as being very fast paced. I would expect some hospitality with what you're paying but didn't get that. Then they charge you a fee to use a card. Was not told before; so an extra $2 on top of the overpriced food & horrible service. I tried this place out the other evening. It's a new seafood restaurant for the area since the ol' mayflower closed down. So sad....any...who.....I ordered takeout and chose to order the special they had which was popcorn shrimp platter, which was very reasonably priced. Stated that it would be ready in 30 mins. Once arriving 30 mins later...WOW this place was very packed, traffic like crazy in the parking lot folks, crazy ridiculous!! People everywhere! I had to dodge folks because they were jumping out in front of me. After riding around the parking lot for 10 mins found a place to park. All of the parking sports are numbered which I found odd and kinda weird. Well a gentleman approached my vehicle with a uniform shirt on asked for my name and number, I gave it to him, he stated that he would let the inside know and they would bring the food out to my car, so yea that's why the numbers are in the parking lol. Well I waited and waited and after another 30 mins I flagged down the man and said hey where's my food. He got on his phone and than promptly a lady brought out my food and took my cash money. It took her forever to return with change!! Ok now to the food. The portions were just right for what I paid. It came with hush puppies, shrimp, bake tater. They also included butter, sour cream, tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, fork, knife, spoon, salt and pepper. So let's get to the flavor.....well folks it tasted burnt like it had been fried in old grease, no flavor at all. The shrimp and hush puppies were terrible! The only thing decent was the bake tater!!! Yea pretty sad and depressing!!! I had high hopes for this restaurant and what a disappointment!!! This was my first time trying Captain Cook. The restaurant was clean and neat, nothing fancy with wooden tables throughout. The waitress and cashier were nice. I got the jumbo shrimp with loaded baked potato, tea, and slaw. All of the food was lukewarm, and the shrimp tasted like it was out of a freezer case. It was not fresh. I guess I need to go to the ocean for fresh fish. The slaw was not creamy at all. It came in a very small container, and it was almost hard. The tea had no taste to it much. The best thing was the baked potato, and that was nothing to brag about. It has been 2 hours since my visit, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth. I am just picky on my food, and when I spend $20 on a meal, I just want it to be worth it. This meal was not worth it. read more

We have ordered two times in a month. First time spent over 75.00. did not receive sauce for the blooming onion. That's what makes the onion. Today we ordered a captain platter, extra potato and extra hush puppies and I plainly asked for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Husband gets home and no sauce at all. I called only to be hung up on. My husband is 86 yrs old, I'm disabled. He takes food back to captain cook's to get fresh food and get our sauces. He returned home and again no sauces at all. Also the first time we didn't get slaw but we did get slaw second time. I called back only to be put on hold. I asked them to speak with manager but claims manager not there. When people pay that kind of money to eat looks like we could get all the condiments we need to enjoy the food. read more

The first time I came here there was flys everywhere and that was when it first opened but I came back for my brothers birthday and me and my grandfather saw 2 cockroaches crowing around, one crowed on my grandfather. The snow crabs are dry - it tastes like it was cooked 6 hours ago. The staff has no clue what a snow crab is. The arroz con pollo has cheese and it doesn't taste and look like arroz con pollo at all. I have been a fan of this restaurant since it opened until tonight! Food was great but service... Terrible! I have been about 10 times and asked for extra tartar every single time! NEVER EVER received it! Even when I told them I would pay for it! Ok so thats not even the problem! Tonight I called in an order and got home and had a completely different order! So called in to let them know and she asked if I wanted to come back and get it... I said yes but we lived 30 minutes away so she said I'll wait about 5 - 10 mins and put in your redo order... I said ok Thank you! Not expecting to have to pay the difference once I got there for their mess up! I've done spent 1 and 1/2 hours and GAS on the road waiting on supper and you done nothing for your mess up! OK Dont forget Mayflower is back open! Thanks for nothing! Oh btw still got home after all of this and paid $2 per chicken tender so I only ordered 2 and actually got the sauce but no tenders! WOW what a experience! My 5 year old still didnt have supper after 3 hours smh! read more
