After running a few errands with my mom, she mentioned wanting to get fish from a place she used to visit with her mother (my grandmother) and her sister (my aunt). Since it was Mother's Day, we expected a long wait, but to our surprise, we were seated quickly. This is a large restaurant up on a hill with plenty of parking and a warm, welcoming feel. It was clean, and our greeter was kind. Our waitress was patient as we took our time deciding what to order, and we also placed a to-go order for my aunt. There was a small mix-up with the food, but it was quickly resolved with no fuss. My mom ordered the fried flounder with fries and coleslaw, and I had the same, but swapped the fries for fried okra. My husband went all out with a ribeye steak, fried scallops, fried okra, a side salad, and a bowl of clam chowder. The fish was fried perfectly--just a tad more salt would have made it ideal (though that's an easy fix), and next time I'll remember to ask for tartar sauce or hot sauce. The okra was crispy and satisfying, and the standout for my husband was the clam chowder, which I agree was rich and flavorful. More than the food, this place holds special memories for my mom, and now it holds one for me too. It's the kind of spot that becomes part of the family story. Have had the broiled shrimp, broiled scallops, their clam chowder soup is very good. Sweet potatos are excellent - done just right. When you order you have to add on 15 mins. time for any broiled foods - which was ok -- they have nice painted sea pics and boats all over the place to keep you occupied while waiting for your meal to go! After working my booty off to be able to afford MayFlower, I was so disappointed. Nothing was good, I ordered the Captain's platter for both my husband and I, the oysters were watery no taste, the fish was soggy with zero taste, the fries were not even cooked all the way. The popcorn shrimp soggy and bland, even the slaw was terrible. The blooming onion was mediocre, but nothing to brag on, hush puppies were delicious though.. What has went wrong with this restaurant? My fiance and I was seated at a back table near the white float for fifteen minutes. No waitress ever came to the table. Nothing. After waiting, we decided to leave. I stopped at the register, speaking to Sean, that we were leaving because of poor service not because we wanted to escape paying the bill. I explained the situation and he spoke to the 'so called' manager who offered a lousy apology but no solution for the time wasted. The one star is for Sean trying to fix a bad situation. About two or three times a year, I get the craving for fried seafood and this extremely popular Greek owned fish camp is hard to beat. It is always bustling. The food is delicious and serving sizes are incredible. Even the small combo is huge compared to other restaurants. Although they specialize in fried, they don't gripe about serving it up broiled if desired. My family has eaten here for years and have never been disappointed. Service is friendly, fast and attentive. It is well managed and the sanitation scores are always high. If you get the hankering for seafood in Danville, this place is a Gotta Try! You can't go wrong here. Keep in mind though, it is fried, so yes there will be grease involved, which is especially obvious if you order your meal to go and happen to notice the cardboard to-go box. I love this place. Each time I come to visit my family that lives here, I don't leave until I've had some mayfloer or I get some to go. It's so good and the portions are VERY generous. It has been like that for years. I have been coming to this place and had a love for this restaurant for, at least 15 years. No matter the changes, the service and food are still great. Well, I love this place. I love that for $17.95 I get enough crab legs to feed a family of eight (really), baked potato, hush puppies full of deliciousness, and a salad. Also, the sweet tea here is a perfect combination of sweet and strong. The strong brew makes it dangerous, as I could drink 15 glasses and never get a sugar overdose. The dining room is huge, but the waitresses are all very sweet and the service is incredibly efficient. Yum yum, I miss home. read more

The service isn't what it used to be when Gus was the manager. Today there was barely no air conditioner and the tea was horrible. The food portions was small as well. They purposely only cook a certain amount of Greek chicken every Sunday and you have to get there before 1 pm to get some. It is the best Greek chicken I've tasted around but I can't stop what I'm doing for chicken. It's so disappointing that the manager will not allow the cooks to prep more because of the demand. This impression would be further enhanced by the efficient, but overburdened waitstaff tearing from kitchen to dining room at warp speed. Yet, I've never seen a diner offer valet parking (they didn't on my last visit) or so heavy an emphasis upon fin fish and seafood. The portions are ample, and the prices reasonable, but more in line with larger metro areas. Plenty of fried and broiled choices, all of which were good from my sampling. The hush puppies were in a donut shape ( which was different) but still very good. The scallops were good size too. I ate here over the weekend while visiting my family. I used to eat here back in the day when I lived in Danville and I always liked it. The last 15 years haven't changed it. I still like it. I got a seafood combo platter for 11.95 and it was more food than I could eat. We ordered take out and from phone to picking up the food was less than 15 minutes which is not bad at all on a Saturday night. I went to the Mayflower Seafood Restaurant on April 12th to celebrate my brother-n-laws 60th B'day (twins). There were about 40 of us. Although their PUBLIC NOTICE states, "All parties of 12 or more, will have to split up into AVAILABLE SECTIONS!! The management did not adhere to their policy. 12 of us were seated at a table for 12 in one section, 2 were seated in the same section at a table for 2 and 4 in the same section at a table for 4. The problem was there were 5 booths and 4 tables that seated 4 each STILL AND STAYED AVAILABLE THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE as well as a booth that seated 6 in the same section we were seated. NOTE*****On the policy that the management has posted, made sure that they underlined AVAILABLE SECTIONS. You be the judge. Were these empty tables and booths available or not? They rest of our party were spread throughout the restaurant and I do mean spread out. To add salt to our disappointment, the manager, Joann Kostopangioitis REFUSED to come and speak with us when we requested her to. If there were no available spaces we would not have had an issue, but there were clearly plenty of EMPTY AVAILABLE seating in one section. read more
