Visited Captain D's Seafood Kitchen as part of Yelp Elite Event. Took me almost an hour to travel here, but I love seafood and was quite excited to try the place, especially the crabs. The place is easy to find and ambience of the restaurant is quite easy going. Most importantly, it is neat and clean. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by Arin at the counter. However when I told him I was visiting as part of Yelt Elite, he was confused. I guess he has just started working here, nevertheless he was professional and reached out to Harmeet (Chef) in the kitchen, who immediately took charge and took my order. We ordered the Deluxe seafood platter (spicy) which came with 2 hush puppies, 2 stuffed crab shells, 6 butterfly shrimps, 2 fish fillets along with 2 sides( we got corn and fries) The 2 hush puppies were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were quite delicious. I was quite excited about the 2 Stuffed crabs, but they were a huge let down.It felt too doughy with almost next to none of crab in the filling. The fries were hot and crispy and the fish fillet were quite delicious, with the outside batter covering being crispy and inside being soft and moist. We had ordered the spicy version, but it wasn't spicy at all. The 6 butterfly shrimp were best of the lot. They were delicious all the way through. The corn was hot but for some reason it was too chewy. We had to give it a pass. We also ordered the Supremely Sampler, which is simlar to the seafood platter but here instead of 2 stuffed crab shells you get 2 chicken tenders. And let me say, the 2 chicken tenders were wonderful. Infact they were better than all the seafood we tried. They were crunchy, moist and flavorful.. To foodies: If you can travel, and love seafood, especially butterfly shrimp, hush puppies and Fish fillets, do give this a try. The staff is welcoming and kind, which I believe is the best part. It is definitely a good place to visit and try the food atleast once. To management: You have a wonderful staff. However the food falls a bit flat and below expectations. The spicy versions aren't spicy at all. The Stuffed Crab needs a complete recipe makeover. The Chicken is pretty good but you being a seafood restaurant, the seafood items needs to stand out. Also, pls reconsider the location. Right now tucked far away in the corner. Overall rating: 6.7/10 Signing off Rahul V.S. aka CanIndian Foodie

Food 4.5/5 Service 5/5 Vibe 3/5 Tried their supreme sampler and the portion is HUGE!! This sampler comes with fried shrimp, fried fish, fried chicken strips, and 2 sides ( i got the fries and steamed broccoli). Everything is made after order, so PIPPING HOT which i love. I think the fried chicken and fish was 5/5, crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. The shrimp was slightly overfried so a bit dry... the only recommendation i have will be for the brocolli, i love the idea of steam brocoolli but the ones i had was mushy, so i can tell they have been in the steamer for awhile. Overall 4/5! Will come back foe their jalapeño bites (cheesey inside) and fried chicken strips.

Food is great value! I got the spicy chicken burger and it was quite large. The combo came with a good amount of fries and a large drink as well. Service was quite fast and while the ambiance was pretty dull, I didn't expect it to be lively or anything. My only gripe with it is that the sandwich was a bit bland, it just tasted warm. Quite filling though

I think this is perhaps one of the BEST seafood fast food / battered fish I've ever had. The fish fillet was marinated to perfection and fried to golden. The hard, and crispy exterior completely locked all the juices in. The juice literally bursted out onto my hand and all over the table when I bit into it. It was so satisfying and delicious. The shrimp was also a must order! For the sides, the green beans was perfect. I don't think I've had such great green beans since I came back from the South & Harlem. Amazing soul food flavours - it got cooked to the point that it melts into your mouth, with a hint of spice and flavourful meat in it. Damn that was good. In addition, the price was super reasonable and the counter was super friendly and helpful too. What an amazing spot - I'll come back often.

To dine here is to abandon pretension at the door and embrace the primal pleasure of cracking, pulling, and diving headlong into a generously heaped platter of shellfish. The portions are commendable; there is no sense of restraint here, and the kitchen makes no apologies for it. The service, too, deserves particular note -- attentive, personable, and clearly well-versed in the menu, with staff offering recommendations that feel genuine rather than rehearsed. The atmosphere strikes an enjoyable balance between lively and welcoming, accommodating everyone from boisterous groups to families with young children with equal ease. Where Crab Boil has room to grow is in the depth and complexity of its seasoning. The foundations are sound, but the spice blends -- while pleasant -- do not yet achieve the kind of resonant, layered intensity that elevates a seafood boil from enjoyable to truly memorable. One leaves content, yet with a quiet sense that the kitchen's full potential remains just slightly untapped. A spirited and generous table -- one that rewards those who come hungry, sleeves rolled, and ready to revel.

DELICIOUS & AUTHENTIC SEAFOOD ITALIAN CUISINE…read more I made reservations a few days in advance and was told that only the heated patio was available. But I knew this place was a gem when they called back the day after to inform me there was a cancellation and was now able to move our reservation indoors. I loved that! FOOD: - Complimentary bread tasted nice with the tomato sauce. - Calamari e Gamberi Fritti ($30) tasted so fresh and delicious! For a fried appetizer it wasn't too heavy between sharing for two. The portion was hearty for two and the size of the calamari and shrimp wasn't small. - Captain's Caesar salad ($15) tasted great as we expected for a Caesar salad and also fresh! It was also a good size for two. - Sea Bass Branzino From the Grill ($39) was a great choice! The garlic-lemon butter sauce was incredibly paired with the freshness of the fish and intensified the whole dish. I chose the side option of risotto blanco which was also a perfect pairing! - King Crab Papardelle ($46) was another great tasty choice! It came with multiple pieces of crab legs which were halved. The sauce and texture of the pasta was amazing! - Tiramisu ($13) was the best tiramisu I've had. I love a tiramisu with a strong espresso taste and this one did not disappoint. SERVICE: Our server was very attentive and friendly, as well as the other staff members that helped us out! AMBIENCE: The restaurant is within the same building as their market/grocer. A family-friendly Italian establishment and very hospitable greetings. The smell of fresh seafood even makes it better. I'd definitely return and try out more of their seafood and pasta dishes! And of course their Tiramisu.

My husband being a seafood lover was super enthusiastic about this place, as San Antonio also offers a decent selection of vegetarian food. We got the table, things looked fine and until we kept waiting for our server to come. He came and left the menu only to return when we called him and trying to ask him for suggestions. Understand the menu items but he just responded i will come when you are ready. So we just ordered without any inputs. He wouldn't come to us even once to ask hows the food, do we need anything else. We kept calling a server, serving near by tables. That guy was decent, he practically should have got the tip from our table. Our designated server passed us each time and kept serving other tables. There was sampling ( Italian liquor) for each table, he preferred to skip us or even talk about it. We felt humiliated and frustrated as even after spending 150 bucks, you are not treated respectfully or even neutrally as a customer. But again the other server was as good as any good service offering restaurant would have . I dont think should mention food here. I habe addresses far more important issue here

Back to why I do this. I'm endlessly curious about food, people, and the magic that happens when great meals meet good music. Friendships just seem to evolve naturally around a table. And thank you, E, for another incredible photo -- your choices are always perfect. Mercado on St. Clair is a hidden gem. What was once beside my mom's flower shop downtown has now found a home in a slightly more industrial setting on Caledonia -- and somehow, it works perfectly. Cozy seating inside, a great covered patio outside, and that village-style European restaurant vibe you hope to stumble across. First off, the waiter was phenomenal. He walked us through the menu, explained everything perfectly, and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The menu is massive -- meat, seafood, everything you could want -- but we came for the paella. We were told it takes time because they make it the proper way. Not overly crispy, just authentic, rich, and layered with flavour. Worth every minute of the wait. To start, we had the gambas / shrimp in a rich red garlic and herb sauce plus extra toasted bread for dipping, per our waiter's recommendation. Absolute rockstar move. The other appetizer was a delicious beef stew served over crunchy rustic bread. Simple, hearty, and top notch. Now... drum roll please. This may have been the best paella I've ever had. Okay okay, maybe somewhere along the coast in Spain I've had one fresher... but this was absolutely off the charts. Zero fishy smell. Just beautiful saffron-infused rice with that perfect slight crisp, loaded with mussels, clams, octopus, calamari, shrimp, and more. Built for two people to share and completely unforgettable. A few glasses of house white later and bam - there was absolutely no chance I was going back to work. And dessert? I kept telling myself: "No dessert, Frank. No dessert." But there's a rule in life ; if you see crème brûlée on a menu, you order it. This wasn't exactly crème brûlée, but a cheesecake-inspired version of it. Two spoons, four bites, and thank you very much. Favourite meal of the year so far. Completely blown away by this place. Mercatto -- go now. Go fast.
