I wanted to take a trip down memory lane for some fast food seafood. I think my last visit to a Captain D's was back in 1997. Overall, I had a very positive experience with this location. The food was prepared quickly (for Captain D's standards). My combo included two pieces of fish, two crab cakes, two sides, and hush puppies. I thought everything was absolutely delicious. The staff were pretty cool, and the dining area was very clean. Tip: Since Captain D's makes the food on the spot, I recommend making your order inside if there are more than two cars in the drive through. read more

Went here honestly because of a coupon. I hadn't been to a Captain D's in ages and felt... hrm.. sure why not? So I honestly did keep the bar low. Captain D's isn't necessarily your definition of 'fine dining'. However, our daughter has been on a new food kick lately and this was the next in the pipeline. Some of the good - the food was pretty good. Really, keeping your expectations real, it's decent, moderately priced respectively, and I don't know what it is about the crumbs of the fish but good gracious they're good. Now the bad... just like most places, customer service is quite lackluster. To be fair to the person who took our order, I think he was brand new. But... while he did try to do his best, between the extremely long wait time to get the food, the fact that the food I got was partly correct, and the flustered manager, it's hard to get on board with, "Let's go to Captain D's" when we ask where to go to eat. Overall, if this is your craving, hey.. go for it.. just don't expect it to be served fast and definitely inspect your order. Your dine-in seafood dinner on a budget! This food isn't 5-star quality, but it's definitely not lacking. My husband got the supreme sampler. Comes with fried fish, shrimp, and 2 chicken tenders. I got clam strips, chicken tenders & mozzarella sticks. For sides we got loaded baked potatoes, broccoli, and Mac n cheese. The chicken tenders were a little dry, but nothing to complain too much about. The loaded baked potatoes were an awesome side choice as they were hot and the toppings didn't taste low quality like I expected. I will say the Mountain Dew tasted OFF. Service here is terrible. The young lady working the window is rude and couldn't answer a simple question about the family platter. Her only response to each question was, place your order when ready. Then, she tossed us over to a young man. At least he was helpful. Been sitting here in the drive thru for 25 minutes. It's prime dinner hour and I get the feeling that they are cooking everything to order, as it is taking so long. read more

Recommended by a server at an other restaurant! Great fish as promised...and for a fraction of the price. Cashier was still learning so we ended up paying for an extra meal, but very friendly service overall. Restroom can use some maintenance but not substandard for this class establishment. I had to take my food back cause they gave me the wrong order. When I toil it back to get what I wanted they had me pull up and wait but when I got home with the correct order my rice was so hard and as long as I waited my food should've been fresh and hot which it wasn't. I tried to call but I didn't get no answer and I didn't feel like going back up there and have to wait longe. I will never go back to this Captain D's at all. read more

Captain D'S is the one and only place that serves fried fish nearby my preferred way, with light fluffy crispy breading rather than hard dense cornmeal breading. They offer both, though. That being said, it's fast food and as such gives the fast food seafood experience. Not a great place, but the only one with decent fish around here. read more

I have never been a big Captain D's fan until now and I might not be a fan of any other location. However, this location is a happy place for me. I can't tell you anything about the interior because I have never been inside. I am strictly a drive thru customer. They aren't far from my home and my food is always still nice and hot when I'm ready to eat it. I have tried a few menu items and everything has been good. However, I am absolutely hooked on the big piece batter dipped White fish dinner with two sides and two hush puppies for 5.99. It's the best deal in town. I always get it with cole slaw and broccoli. They are both good and the broccoli isn't cooked mushy. At home I put a little butter and salt on the broccoli and it's perfect. They are serving first class meals from a fast food restaurant. My meals have been better than most seafood restaurants in the area. I can't speak for their other locations but this one is spot on. read more

I only used the drive thru to pickup a fish sandwich. I have been really craving a good one lately so just before getting a car wash nearby I thought "Why not". I was pretty impressed with the drive thru staff. I know this tends to change on an ongoing basis but this time it was fine. For fast food this was much better than the fish sandwiches at the burger joints. There were two nice sized fillets in between the buns. Cook good and served hot. Food at Captain D's is good but the last 3 times I have been it has taken 50-60 minutes plus to get my "fast food" meal. I have now decided not to return because the service is so terrible. This occurred in both the drive-thri and also when ordering inside. So sad because I really like their fish. read more

So I've been on an oyster kick lately, well it's sad but this fast food seafood is the best I found. I had the oyster dinner oysters where plump moist tender and where fried well nice light breading. Fries where crisp fastfood fries. Slaw was just ok, hushpuppies where light sweet and cooked well Nice staff frfriendly older folks seem to enjoy there job . read more

Walked in the front door to eat after a long day it was 9pm the business closes at 10pm I asked if it was still open and was told yes but we are moping the dinning room so you can take it to go. Needless to say I turned around and walked out. I have never eaten at Captain Ds prior to this and after that experience I never will. read more

This Captain D's does not honor their own menu options. For the Fish and Chips as an entre or $5.00 lunch item they both list a side as part of the offer. When you ask what sides are available, they change their offer to say that the fries are the side???? How can the basic part of the entre be a side? I have asked about it and was told that's the way it is.. Customers are being short changed. read more

After a long work day, me and a buddy decided to get some dinner. This was kind of close to our hotel so we thought why not I got the Maryland crab dinner, which was actually pretty tasty. It came with fries and corn on the cob, plus two hush puppies. The only complaint I have was the rice underneath the crab cakes. To me it was uneatable. It was really hard and bounced off the plate. Although this place is walking distance from my home, I've avoided it for no particular reason. Today, I see why my inner conscious wanted to stay away. There were two employees working, one person in drive thru, and my boyfriend and I. First thing was they had no steak tips. Second, after paying for two shrimp skewers and a large gumbo, they come back and say they only have small gumbo. I found this weird because it seemed like something they could've accommodated us for especially since they didn't have steak tips. I inquired what was in the stuffed crabs and none of the three employees knew. There was no apology or offer to render the situation positive. First time at Captain D's thought it was full service but found out it isn't. Ate in food was typical fast food type place. Price was very good two people under $18.00. Had Maryland clam cakes were luke warm as was rice, green beans were actually the best along with side salad. Cole slaw was very good. Appears they do a good amount of take out business and their pick up window was pretty business. Dining area was acceptably clean but trash area was kind backed up with dirty dishes. Worst restaurant experience ever. Walked in with my family (mom, wife, toddler daughter and nephew). Ordered two adult meals and two kids meals. Got our food and noticed hush puppies missing from my mom's order. I approached the counter and politely stated the hush puppies were missing from one of my orders. The response I received was nothing short of classy. One of the workers in the kitchen said loudly, "He lying!". The manager was standing right beside her and did nothing but glare at me like a dog who just pooped in his yard. She put two nasty balls of fried bread on a tray and reluctantly handed them over. I said thanks and went back to the table. On our way out, we had leftovers because who could stomach the over fried and oversalted pieces of what I assume to be fish at one sitting? I went back to the counter and politely asked for a box. The manager again gave me the stink eye and tossed a container on the counter. Just then, more customers walked in and he said aloud to his employees, "They just don't stop coming!". It was close to closing, so I assume he was griping about that.
