Dropped in today and can say I was not disappointed in my fish. The service was top notch and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the music in the background was not too loud for conversation at the table. The price point was a nice $5.99 for a filling meal for me. Today we decided to eat at Captain D's in Foley, AL. We always have the tartar sauce with our seafood meals. My wife and myself go to the small bar to get some from the dispenser/pumper. The tartar sauce looked very old and gross looking. I told my wife i would not be eating that tartar sauce. She goes to the customer counter to see if they have tater in to go sealed cups and they did. While asking for them she told the lady up front that was taking orders that the tartar sauce in the dispenser pumper looked bad. The lady told her yeah i noticed it looked really separated when i filled it today. WTF!!!!! I mean hell fire! This sort of work ethic should never be acceptable. Period!!! Living on the Gulf Coast there's an abundance of fresh seafood. I haven't been to a Captain D's in nearly six years since moving here from TN where flounder was scarce, never mind grouper, triple tail, or triggerfish :-) Yesterday I wanted to get my British friend some fish & chips for a gathering and this fairly newly Captain D's was close by and thought, why not? I was impressed with the friendly and accommodating staff and also that they are cooking the fish to order. While they advertise that they prioritize sustainable sourcing, particularly for wild-caught fish like cod, pollock, and salmon, and avoid processed fish products, focusing on whole fillets to maintain natural flakiness and quality. However they do offer farm-raised tilapia and catfish, which is in my no-go list but they do offer crab that's sourced from various US coasts, and clams harvested off the Northeast US coast, for breaded clam strips. I tried the fish & chips that I purchased and it wasn't that bad, but fresh is impossible to beat. I won't become a regular, for sure, with the abundance of fresh fish locally but it's a nice location with friendly staff and quick service. read more

When I say I've never been to a captain d's that was this perfect I am not lying the food both times we went were so fresh. it was such a clean environment. The cashiers were super sweet and our food did not even take long for it to come out. I love that they have self-serve sauces because you can never get enough of their tartar sauce. read more

Well, we tried out the new Captain D's, In Foley, Alabama and I'm sorry to say we were very disappointed. The service was very good and friendly, but there was no heat in the building that we could feel. I asked the cashier about it and she said the heat would just not keep up with cold outside. The food was another story. The fish tasted old, and I could not eat at all the shrimp was OK coleslaw was fine and the french fries were very good but seeing how the fish was the main part of our meal it made for a bad experience. The atmosphere was OK. I thought the music was playing a little loud and like I said it was very cold in there , but the tables in the floors were all clean and the restroom was very clean. Maybe they just had a bad batch of fish, but this is my review. read more

The manager there is very rude and is very demeaning to her employees! She has more than once been rude to an elderly employee who has yea, took out the wrong order BUT she was given the order to take out by another RUDE employee and yet she is the one who is reprimanded in front of customers WRON!!!! I say get rid of the manager and the rude employees immediately and keep the employee who is very polite and make sure that they are trained correctly believe me I worked with the public for over 25 years total and niceness goes alot further than a rude employee anyday. read more

Our lunch today was another learning experience that was a "should have known better," but also a next time "you'll listen to me ," from my spouse. Still I wanted to try a lobster roll, and bought her the two piece fish plate. To me stale rolls, indifferent tasteless lobster, don't convey any regard for the customer. Her fish could have filled in for the lobster having no taste outside of using plenty of vinegar. read more

Being near the Gulf Coast, I get asked why I hit LJS and Captain D's so often. The answer is that sometimes good old "Fish and Chips" is what we're craving. Which was the case tonight. This was our first visit to the Foley C-D's location, and I had to run home and start this review before I forgot everyone's name. Shout out to Robin and Robert, and their managers Tequila and Peaches. From the minute we walked in I knew this was going to be great. Asked Robin for just a minute while my girls studied the menu, and we were serenaded with a vocal concert from Robin while she waited. (Great pipes, btw) Our order was taken and brought out quickly. It's a franchise, so the food was as expected, but so clean and fresh, and served with a smile. There were two other ladies in the restaurant dining by themselves, which is when we noticed Robert. He was waiting on them like this was a full service restaurant. Everyone was so cheerful, helpful and pleasant The entire place was immaculate, including the restrooms. I've been to plenty of other franchise/fast-food fish and chips places, and if not cared for, the floors and surfaces can be a bit greasy, but there was no sign of this here. Added a take-out order at the end which was met with the same impeccable service. Only met the manager(s) (Peaches & Tequila) at the end after we asked for them, but they should be commended as well for the terrific staff and the state and cleanliness of the store. I hope they retain this staff, particularly Robin and Robert, for years to come as we plan on visiting often. 5* because there's no option for 6*. read more
