Really great little dive bar with a good Philly cheesesteak and a great vibe. Our waitresses were attentive and quick. We really enjoyed it!

It's been 6 years since my 4 star and gotta report that this spot is a solid 5 and continuing to impress!!! ​My honey and I were already regular locals back then, but over the years they have somehow continue to kick things another level when you're not paying attention :-); The Philly cheesesteaks are still the absolute gold standard around here, which is saying a lot coming from someone who used to live right in Philadelphia and knows the real deal. I have a few faves like the cheesy mushrooms and the BBQ shrimp, and nowadaya you can't just look at the regular menu. You have to check out their daily specials board because they are constantly knocking it out of the park with creative new dishes and fresh catches. ​The atmosphere is just even more welcoming, but the outdoor seating is much improved with some sand and stage, perfect for enjoying the coastal breeze. They updated their operating hours too, so they are now open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. Whether you want to escape the usual tourist trap seafood lines, watch a game on their big screens, or just grab a ice cold beer, or really strong drink, with friendly folks, this place just keeps getting better. 10/10 best sandwhich place in gulf shores! Located right under the bridge and tucked away. Sandwich was 10/10 and prices were unheard of! Alcohol prices were very cheap! Was packed and rightfully so! Dive bar with live music on the back patio. The chicken wings were small but flavorful. The salad was big and filling. It was cool that they had imported beers from countries besides the usual. This would have been a cool spot to watch the World Cup or any sporting event. read more

I asked a staff member at another restaurant where they go eat. This person recommended The Sloop; I had never heard of it. They said they specialize in Philly Steak sandwiches. I took a look at their menu and my wife and I decided to try it out. This is definitely where the locals go; it is not a huge place but it was packed on a Monday @ 2:30. My husband ate here yesterday and insisted on me giving it a try. It, along with the service we received, was phenomenal. I got the cheesesteak with provolone and cheese wiz and added bell peppers/onions-you've gotta try it! The experience was so great I forgot to take pictures along the way! This small restaurant with an outside patio is nestled away under the parkway. The decor is super eclectic making a look around very interesting....motorcycle patches on a wall, a mermaid mural on another. Very cool. Lots of local pics. There is a bar and several TVs around so a good place to watch sporting events. Which was good for us because we visited while the college world series was on. Able 2 follow 2 different games on different tvs. I ordered the beef quesadilla and hubby ordered the shrimp dish. Both were 5 ! The place was packed. Service was a bit slow, but the Barkeep was also waiting tables whole handling a full bar. Respect to him. Definitely will go back on our next trip to Gulf Shores. read more

This place is super cool and definitely my husband and I's kind of place. The only thing I didn't care for was the "stuffed mushrooms" only cause it was more like a soup, but they still tasted yummy. This is a place I've reviewed before and it's always great. There were four of us, and we had to wait a few minutes, but once we got seated the service was fast and the food is so good. I love the hot wing hoagie, I always get it, but the rest of the table had wedge salads with shrimp (one small and one large). I'm told they were excellent. We also had the Italiano sandwich, and it looked great. Never had a bad experience here! read more

Followed the Yelp to this spot on an evening when we just wanted an "easy" dinner. Small, unassuming spot with a laid back vibe, coastal decor and a chill atmosphere. The clientele was split between locals and vacationers, young and old. There was no live entertainment when we were there, but it seems like it would be a great spot for a casual hang out with drinks and music. Speaking of drinks - ours weren't anything exceptional, but they gave a good pour and basically anything is refreshing when the temps are outrageous!! I appreciated the generous serving of limes :) Our sandwiches were delicious! I had a Philly with chicken and it was solid with good flavor and great bread. The chips on the side were crisp and salty in the best way. Service was fast and friendly. Small parking lot, many clearly parked in the lot next door(despite signage indicating it was for the boat dockage across the street). Service was good. Cheesesteak was VERY good. I ordered an old fashioned drink and it was served in a styrofoam cup! The waiter should have communicated that they don't use glass. Then we waited for over an hour an a half to get our food. Everyone that was seated after us was given their food first and we were ignored until we got up to leave. If you go to Sloop, just know that they serve their "buddies" first, if you are new- prepare to wait and be over looked.
