    Grilled snapper

The cornbread was excellent. The mahi mahi Poboy was too. The snapper lacked seasoning and was a disappointment and disservice to such a delectable fillet of fish. The view from the restaurant is spectacular and the service was great. We recommended mending the snapper recipe.

Wait Time: Can call to get reservations as the restaurant can get busy but wait times are not that long for lunch. Service: The service was well done with the waitress being attentive and friendly while not being overbearing. Food: Can be hit or miss with some inconsistency in the shrimp and grits ordered between same day orders and different day orders. The food has both healthy options for those on a diet and more hearty foods for those who want southern comfort food.

Dropped into the Bayside Grill on night 1. Requested a table, and they took my phone number (obviously to text me when it was ready)... they then gave our table away to another party because we "walked away" (we stepped just outside the door by their back patio). When confronted, they said "we couldn't find you"... you had my NUMBER! They apologized for the poor communication but offered the choice of a 45 minute wait or sitting at two different tables. Finally got seated at a make shift combination of circular tables that they graciously but awkwardly pressed together. The server was beyond flustered and unprofessional - apron a complete mess and falling off, confused, and generally frazzled... bro are you on vacation too? How many drinks have you had? The table we should have gotten looked like the waitress was managing the party pretty well. It took 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive, another 45 minutes for the apps to arrive. Then another 20 minutes for the entrees. The food was good. Legitimately tasty! Or maybe my entire party was just starving by this point (kids started to melt). The apps were good, most of the entrees and sides were good, the ribeye had good flavor but lacked a good sear, and the espresso martini was watered down (nobody at the table finished theirs). Really hoping that they're having "opening day" type troubles since it's one of the first busy weekends of spring... but I expected a significantly higher level of service based on the staff at check in. I would have thought that being in the business for over a hundred years would have helped construct solid processes and procedures. Cheers to 4 more days in Fairhope.

We're staying here for a conference and didn't feel like going out and we did not want to get dressed up. There is lots of seating and we were given a table immediately inside because it was a little bit chilly outside, but the outdoor seating is really lovely with views of the bay hubby ordered the red fish tacos, you can also get shrimp instead. I got the cheeseburger, which was really good and he very much liked his tacos. We were offered a choice of french fries, chips or fruit as a side for the burger. While the burger was really good, hot and juicy, the french fries did not seem very fresh. I think they had been cooked earlier and that is the only drawback to our meal. The service was really good too.

From there, the blackened grouper--the catch of the day--was the star of the evening: perfectly cooked with a satisfying char and depth of flavor, though unevenly seasoned. It was accompanied by creamy cheese grits that leaned a bit mild and fried okra that, while slightly soft, could have used a touch more seasoning as well. A side of hush puppies was promised but never made it to the table--though admittedly, I rarely indulge unless they're something truly special. The atmosphere was relaxed and almost serene, with only a couple of other tables occupied during my visit, though carry-out orders seemed steady. I chose to sit on the patio, where the weather was ideal and the newly installed fly-deterrent fans did an admirable job keeping the table clear--if not entirely keeping the flies from me instead. Still, the food remained untouched by them, which I consider a success. Service was warm and attentive throughout, rounding out a pleasant evening. While a few dishes could have been elevated with bolder seasoning, the overall experience was delightful, and I left satisfied.

This was the best meal of the whole trip. I ordered the Grilled Swordfish and it was absolutely outstanding, perfectly cooked, flavorful, and memorable. My wife, who doesn't even eat seafood, and loved it. That alone says a lot about the quality of the kitchen. Very friendly people here. Our view was the kitchen, they seem to accomplish quite a alot for the kitchen size. I started out with gumbo, very interesting mix of contents, sausage, shrimp, short rib (menu says chicken), a dark roux and a scoop of potato salad in the middle, very tasty and different. Next she had the pork chop with peach and bacon chutney over pimento cheese grits. The Pork chop was perfect. The chutney, one bite was very heavy on the vinegar. I had the fried chicken tasso gravy, hot honey, marinated sweet potato. This was an exceptional dish and was full when I finished. It was a good experience. Given it was a Friday night at 6ish. It was very loud and vibrant tonight. We will be back.

The shrimp and grits and the pasta dishes are delicious , and even the appetizers were on point. Service was just as good, friendly, attentive, but not hovering. You don't feel rushed, which is rare these days. What really makes this place though is the vibe. Whether you sit inside or out, it's got that relaxed, slightly upscale but still comfortable feel.
