The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

We've been to Newport before and have always been in awe at the coastal town but Admiral Sim's House definitely delivered. We pulled in to the driveway of a multi level historic home with neatly trimmed landscape and green grass. The weather was perfect and sunny with birds chirping in the distance. There were stairs to the main entrance of the home. Our room was on the second floor, so we went up a couple flights of stairs with our belongings (no elevator of course). We stayed in the Ocean Room that was tastefully coastal decorated and so clean. The King bed comfortable as ever, the room was very spacious. It had a good sized closet, big bathroom! Our short but sweet night stay was wonderful. It was quiet at night. Did I mention it was pet friendly?! We highly recommend others to stay at Admiral Sims House. We will definitely come back.

The rooms are spacious, the beds and linens are incredibly soft and comfortable. The breakfast was simple but delicious and perfect for us. I had a nice cup of tea at bedtime in my room followed by beautiful pastries and warm coffee downstairs the following morning. The owner treats her guests like family, very down to earth and hospitable. I absolutely adored our night here and hope to come back soon with my friends!

THE OWNER (ROMANA) IS A THIEF…read more My partner and I (both full-time college professors) booked a three night stay here in March 2019, as we were coming from NYC to Rhode Island for a wedding. When we arrived (around 3pm), the owner was not there and we could not gain entry into the facilities at all. We called her and she said that we never confirmed when we were arriving so she went to a friend's birthday party over an hour away! We were under time pressure to change and arrive to the wedding on time so we had no choice but to find another hotel. This woman still charged us for the full amount of our stay ($652!) and we were unable to recover our money. It is completely UNACCEPTABLE to have to essentially make an appointment(!) to arrive at a hotel. We did not arrive in the middle of the night, when there may be no one on duty. Romana still charged our card for the full stay and refused to refund the money even though no one was on duty to receive us when we arrived (and it would take her over an hour to return to the hotel). We had to bear the inconvenience of finding and paying for another hotel on the fly and yet Romana still refuses to issue us even a partial refund. As academics, both my partner and I travel extensively and I can say, without hyperbole, this is the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE we have ever had. We have never been treated with such disregard and disrespect. I have never written a negative review before in my life so please trust me when I say DO NOT STAY HERE.

We had homemade scones, french toast, quiche. It is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the local wineries and go to the beach. The only drawbacks for us were no wireless internet (and I was working a bit on this trip) and it is off the beaten track and can be hard to find, especially at night. Beware of the local 25mph speed limit!
