If I could give this place 100 stars I would! We had such a great time at this bed and breakfast! We stayed for two nights and it was amazing! Very clean and comfortable! The innkeepers are amazing and their fresh homemade breakfasts were so good! The location is great, just 30 mins to Newport and about 50 mins to Narragansett! It was in a quiet neighborhood and just around the corner there are so many dining options that were very good as well. We enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and by the water! If you are looking for something quiet and close to all the fun things Rhode Island has to offer then you have to stay here! read more

My partner and I traveled to Bristol to attend a wedding. Doug and Liz accommodated our travel plans as they had a room avaiable . They are just exquisite people who love what they do! The home itself is a historic fixture in the heart of downtown Bristol with walking access to so many great things! Bristol boasts some of the best dining and cocktails in the east bay and the island so the location is second to none. The home is just lovely with precise attention to detail. The kitchen and eating areas have been completely renovated along with a brand new guest room. We stayed in the Garden Room and it was beautiful. We had a very comfortable bed, tons of plush towels, several windows with one in the private ensuite providing generous amounts of natural light. The bathroom was large with a large shower - powerful water pressure with nice hot water. We decided to sleep in a bit in the morning and the house was very quiet. Our room overlooked the adorable little back yard that boasted two sitting areas. One was around a lovely patio and the other was next to the koi pond in the yard. This would be the perfect place to have a cocktail or just spend some romantic time alone. Breakfast was so wonderful! Liz and Doug make quite the spread and we were very impressed. For breakfast we had frittata and toast with baked candied pears. Everything was scrumptious! The coffee was hot, fresh and perfect! Liz and Doug love to engage in conversation with their guests and are genuinely interested in where you come from and what brings you to Bristol. This is what I love about a B&B and especially about William's Grant - you feel so at home you almost forget you are away! If you are going to stay in the east bay look no further. You are taken care of with top notch service and attention. We will certainly be back to stay with them again as we could not imagine staying anywhere else! Enjoy! read more

WOW what an adventure that led us here but am I glad it did! We decided to take a trip to RI on a graduation-filled weekend and also decided to wing the accommodation! First night, Friday, we got lucky and got rooms at the Westin! But Saturday was impossible! We decided to drive up to Newport instead, expecting rooms to be available more easily outside of the Brown University area. Were we wrong! After calling about 40 places on our drive, we hit it lucky very late at night in this place. But the place was Grrrrrreat!!! The couple who own and run this place were wonderful and very hospitable! The rooms were much nicer than most B&B/Inns! The breakfast they prepared was also quite amazing - especially the muffins!! The place is clean, comfortable and gorgeous! Highly recommended!! We did, however, pay up for what we got! It could be that the night was busy or the place itself charges more than other B&Bs...! read more

I chose to accommodate myself, my mother, my then fiance's mother and aunt, and my 5 bridesmaids at the William's Grant Inn after some research into affordable, but adorable B&B's in the Bristol area. I am so happy we stayed here as Diane and Warren were wonderful hosts, who made us feel welcome and at home the day before my wedding. The various rooms have different themes and colors. There was even a quaint koi pond in the backyard! We rented out all the rooms the night before our wedding, and all of the women enjoyed their stay in comfortable beds and with warm showers and clean robes to boot! Diane and Warren's hospitality and great service were even more evident the following morning (my wedding day). Our complementary breakfast included delicious, hearty and home-made french toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, OJ, milk, coffee, tea and eggs. We used the sitting/common room upstairs for getting ready, having my freelance hair and makeup artists work with us here. We were also allowed an extended checkout time of 1pm, and the hosts were gracious enough to hold our belongings and luggage for pick up after the wedding. My wedding took place at Linden Place in Bristol, an amazing venue, just a few blocks from this quaint inn. I highly recommend this inn to those who relish in homegrown service, hospitality, and vintage, adorable flair! Disclaimer: I thought most of the beautiful rooms at the inn had somewhat of a feminine appeal, so check with your boyfriend or husband if they can take the cuteness :) read more

Wow. Bristol RI is already a quite hidden gem of a place, but William's Grant Inn is truly a can't miss experience! Elephant in the room first: we felt utterly safe during the pandemic, as social distancing; hygiene; and masking were always in order. Liz and Doug really made the experience meld the best of staying with gracious friends who care deeply about your having a great time, with enjoying professional pampering and discretion. We drove up to the gorgeous place at an unannounced evening hour, but they already surmised and had gotten ready to welcome us by the time we left our car! They thoughtfully even had the AC already on during a steaming hot day so the room felt perfect. Individually packed, fresh homemade cookies along with a whole toiletries bag was already waiting. The room was gorgeous! Homey with wooden fixtures, mosaic lamp, beautiful practical ceiling fan in addition to AC, the comfiest imaginable four poster bed with fluffy mattress and luxurious sheets + pillows. (They even thoughtfully got a range of pillow firmness so for once my partner and I were both happy!) The room was meticulously clean and, thank heavens from this sensitive nose, effectively scent-free other than the delicious cookie smell and the natural niceness of wooden furniture. Word to the wise - in the region, unlike where I grew up, full bath does NOT imply bathtub; so the rooms with bathtubs are the ones designated as shower-tub combos. Nonetheless, the shower head - pressure, temperature response, spread - was so nice and akin to a proper rainforest shower that I considered that ample substitute. Breakfast was ample, delicious, fresh&wholesome, and attentively arranged to suit dietary restrictions. Liz and Doug are the sort of hosts who tell brilliant stories of local attractions while frying bacon or cutting fruit, are happy to give homeowner advice if asked (they renovated the historic inn and live in it themselves!), might surprise you with other goodies on a later day of stay, and even remember your preferred tea/coffee combo. Wow. The Inn is really central in a safe and scenic location, easy walking distance to the bay, Colt State Park, downtown Bristol with tons of great restaurants, ferry, East Bay Bike Path...and easy access to Newport, Providence, etc. When work cropped up, I really appreciated that their free Wi-Fi signal is strong all throughout the property, because it is such a treat to sit in their garden, eyeing the bullfrog in the pond while trying to keep a straight face on conference call. Liz enough snuck around from offscreen to bring me cold water bottles and raise a parasol. The last thing I would say of why my partner and I enthusiastically subscribe to their home motto of "may all who enter as guests leave as friends" - well, we loved it so much that we considered extending our trip extra (working virtually anyway) days. Doug actually alerted us, when he learned we were pondering this, that our state would start enforcing a quarantine on Rhode Island the day we had planned to stay extra. We likely would not have realized til we got back, and it was lost revenue during an unfairly low season in the hospitality business - but Doug took it as a matter of course that he should look out for us. Love the homey feel of the place. The hosts are great, rooms fully equipped, and breakfast was yummy. We had freshly baked banana pistacchio muffin and french toast. Yummy! Overall good experience. The host gave us good tips on where to go and cool trivia. The farmer's market every saturday for example was a good suggestion. What a great location. This B&B is a block away from a strip of antique shops, restaurants and other little stores. It's extremely peaceful here with barely any cars driving by. Diane and Warren and extremely welcoming and offered great advice as to where to eat (Persimmon - best meal I've ever had and I live in NYC). There were 2 freshly baked homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us in our room. Warren made a delicious omelet on our first morning while Diane entertained us with they're travel stories. The second day we received blueberry pancakes and a pear & ginger muffin. Both meals began with delicious fruit bowls. We will definitely back. I highly recommend this place. read more

Liz and Doug are gracious, down-to-earth people who were simply incredible hosts. We loved our quaint room (the Bradford) which was beautiful and CLEAN. Breakfast both mornings was tasty and filling. They recommended two restaurants (Quito's and Pomodoro's) and the meals were just delicious! Bristol is a beautiful New England town and we loved walking around the town and looking at all of the beautiful old homes; our stay at their Inn capped off several fun days. Kim and Liz were managing for the winter months while the owners were travelling and did a fine job. It is expensive for what it is - but that's Bristol...a very charming old seaport town. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, but the pillows were hugely thick-- so much so that I had a crick in my neck all the next day. The decor is bit over the top- especially with a clutter of teddy bears upstairs- but there are nice welcoming touches - like H.M. cookies on arrival, and help yourself port and sherry in the upstairs parlor. Gas fireplaces are working (and, surprisingly, unprotected by a screen or glass) and very cozy. This Inn is not a good choice if you have kids. If you are a light sleeper, stay upstairs- not in the Nautical room right off the kitchen/dining area. Too bad that is the only room with a Jacuzzi tub! You will feel very much at home here, and can walk to the many restaurants and waterfront. read more

This early 1800s home has been converted into a comfortable B&B. Diane is a wonderful host who will make you feel at home, give you great advice for your visit, go out of the way to help, and makes an amazing breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay here. From the beginning the customer service was great. I needed to change my plans due to weather and Warren was very flexible and accomodating. The room was nice and clean and there were two homebaked cookies awaiting us on arrival. There are also candy bowls and liquer that guests can help themselves to, which adds to the feeling of being at home created by the warm hosts. Warren and Diane are very helpful in providing reccomendations of activities, shops, restaurants, etc. Their suggestions definitely improved our trip. Bristol is very nice and walkable from the inn. The breakfasts were both very yummy (egg and cheese souffle and grand marnier french toast) and I felt that my every need (orange juice, more coffee, etc.) was taken care of instantly. We were in the garden room which is kind of away from other rooms and we had no problem with noise. Since I hadn't been to a B&B before I didn't realize that I wouldn't have my own personal TV and refrigerator in my room; they're shared. Just a heads up to others who aren't familiar. Starting this review, my question was - can I go lower than 1 star. Not even sure where to start here...my wife and I have kids and wanted to get away for a weekend. Little did we know that we would be 20 years younger than the average clientele. Old folks don't seem to mind the host and hostess being "in your face," but we weren't particularly thrilled with being asked what time we were planning to return to the inn after dinner. But that's not even the biggest problem we had! When we booked the room, no where did it say that the room we chose was DIRECTLY off the kitchen - the Nautical Room. Being busy with our kids 24/7, all we really wanted to do was rest and relax - take a nap, sleep late, etc. NOT A CHANCE in this room. In the middle of the afternoon, the hosts were clanging away with every pot and pan they own. It was so bad that my husband and I pounded the bottle of wine we had brought in about 10 minutes and then left for the day. When we got back to the hotel, we got a horrific night's sleep due to all the creaking in the building. And at the freaking crack of dawn we heard the pots and pans again - and at 7 a.m., there was a table full of people eating breakfast RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR DOOR. Needless to say, we packed our bags and left. I don't care how tasty that breakfast might have been, it wouldn't have made it worth it. If you want to get away and sleep, and you are under the age of 65, this is not the place for you. read more

This was our first time in Bristol, RI and at the William's Grant Inn and we totally enjoyed both very much. Doug and Elizabeth were such gracious host's, personable and welcoming. They truly made us feel like family. Our room was cozy, clean and nicely decorated and the bed was so comfortable. Everything that was served for breakfast was delicious starting with a cup of baked apple slices with cinnamon, fresh corn muffins and a yummy Frittata. They also recommended all the best restaurants, We never had to use our car because everything was in walking distance to the Inn. We luved walking around town and seeing all the beautiful historical churches and gorgeous old homes and of course, it was such a pleasure to be so close to the ocean. Even walking around town late at night we felt totally relaxed and safe. Everyone was so friendly everywhere we went. We wished we could have stayed more than one night. We will definitely be going back to Bristol, RI and of course staying at the delightful William's Grant Inn. Doug and Elizabeth, Thank you so much for your hospitality and your generosity. Just returned from a 3 night stay at the William's Grant Inn . My wife and I arrived late in the afternoon of the 17th, and were met by the owners who made us feel at home and showed us to our room. They gave excellent recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. The bed was comfortable, the room spotless, and the breakfast that was served each morning was incredible. Great price, and within walking distance to most of the restaurants and sights. Will be going back next year.... read more

We stayed two nights at this very cozy, comfortable B & B as a gift from our kids and had a great experience, otherwise may never have visited Bristol. We found it a scenic seaport town and the neighborhood and Inn were so convenient. The best was Diane and Warren the Inn keepers. Diane was a delightful hostess, tour guide and travel advisor. her dirctions were super. They also Prepared us amazing breakfasts. My first impression of this place was terrible. There was supposed to be some severe weather on the day we were meant to arrive. I called up the day before and just inquired about what to do if the weather was so bad that we were unable to make it. Although I didn't intend to cancel the reservation, the man on the phone was incredibly rude. It ruined my whole impression of the B&B. It was fine when we got there and everyone was very nice (but we didn't have any problems). The breakfast was great and the room was comfortable. I would have preferred to be upstairs because I imagine it would have been quieter. It would have been a great stay if the man who answered the phone hadn't been so rude to me. Probably best not to upset your customers before they arrive at your B&B! read more
