Expensive for what you get, plain and simple. The menu has a lot to choose from, and it all looks good, but it's all expensive -- and the food is good, but it's not great. I got the baja fish tacos, and each taco came with one good-sized piece of fish with fresh shredded cabbage on it, but the cabbage and pico de gallo was too mild; not only no spice, hardly any flavor! -- been a long time I felt like putting salt on my food at a restaurant. Maybe it's intentional. Decent environment, nice patio seating, decent service. Just too expensive. read more

We dined inside where the air conditioning was. Thank you for the AC, Captain! But customers that were dining out on the patio were enjoying a beautiful evening with good conversation and music being played at conversation level. Such a beautiful night to be relaxing outside. First time checking out Captain Joe's and overall was a good experience. Greeted quickly and warmly at the door and sat quickly. Sat outside and enjoyed the live music. The ambiance was not as fun as I would have expected but of course the crowd determines that. Took some time to get greeted, drinks, and (complimentary which is a nice touch) bread and butter. Good news bad news that because that took some time our dinners came out almost immediately afterward. The Michigan Salad was good but overpriced at $18 especially when that doesn't include chicken. Asked my husband if it was as good as the last one he had at a neighborhood grill and the answer was no. So 3 stars there. 3 stars also for the chicken picatta. Chicken piccata is my favorite dinner dish so I've had it at quite a few places. This one just didn't have much flavor. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the asparagus was great, but the piccata sauce just wasn't it. Neither were the mashed potatoes. Good portion and overall good dish, just doesn't compare in flavor to other restaurants. The owner (I assume) came by every time to ask how things were which is always very much appreciated. The live music was great, patio beautiful. Inside which we saw on our way out looked much livelier with sports on. We'll definitely go back and sit inside to enjoy a game! As we left we were thanked for coming by two different people at the door. Arrived with a party of 10 on a Sunday evening at 5 pm and was seated immediately. Our server was amazing, very attentive, made great suggestions, and always made sure our drinks were refilled. There is so much to look at in here and I love the big open dining room. They do live music Wednesday - Saturday from 7-10 pm and have a beautiful outdoor patio. I got the pork tenderloin dinner which was served with mashed potatoes and green beans. My daughter got the Cajun Alfredo and was able to substitute regular grilled chicken to suit her palate. They hosted us for a funeral luncheon. We had the whole banquet area to ourselves and it was spacious and comfortable. The servers and bartenders were so sweet and friendly. They took care of everything. The food was AMAZING, especially the roasted chicken and the mashed potatoes. Honestly I've never had better restaurant mashed potatoes. I'm grateful that they took care of us and made this time enjoyable despite the occassion. read more

Was staying at the days in which is literally right behind their parking lot, so ordered take out. After looking at the menu online (wide variety of choices), I finally decided. Called their number but the recording says orders must be done online. Sigh. Ok. Ordered from my phone. I like talking to people because I enjoying hearing the staff's recommendations or choices if I'm torn between two items. They have a large patio area for seating. A little unreasonably cold and threat of rain today, so wasn't being used. Saturday night and was active inside. To go orders are picked up at the bar. It was crowded so I was a little in the way, but the dishes I saw going by looked good and of large proportions. I got the French onion soup, and the pork tenderloin dinner. The soup (5.99) had a nice amount of cheese, and a nice balance of the broth, onions and croutons. My dinner (18.99) had 4 decent sized, tender pork medallions, asparagus spears, and mashed potatoes, plus a mushroom marsala sauce. Everything smelled and tasted good. My friend and I had sauteed yellow perch, it was delicious, my favorite dish when I go there. A guy came by to take our order, and the waitress was very pleasant when she came back with our drinks and to take our order. Atmosphere was nice, a little loud, decent size crowd. This location gets a solid 4 stars for their consistenly decent food and service. During the summer months, they have a nice outdoor seating area with good ambiance. We were there one evening with live music which was pretty good. Not too loud and familiar songs that some of the customers were singing along with. Everyone was having a great time. It's in a sort of tricky location to find if you see it from the freeway and want to try it out but haven't been before. The driveway comes up the southeast corner of the facility toward a low area of an intersection that has a road leading up past the car wash on the south side of the restaurant. If you're going to try the restaurant for the first time, have a look at a map first so you know how to get into the parking lot. Once you're there, it's pretty easy to find your way back out. read more

The food was fine, but I used a gift card and cash to pay the bill and still had to pay a credit card surcharge. The waiter explained that I had to pay all cash to avoid the surcharge. What!? I've reached out to the restaurant twice and they've never bothered to return my messages. They are now on my do not dine and do not recommend list. Very poor customer service. read more

Captain Joes is continuing to shrink it's portion sizes and raise its prices. Buffalo Chicken wrap used to be a good deal with fresh made chips and now you get a wrap half the size of what it was and chips come from a bag. Burger has shrunk to maybe a 1/4 pound yet they still call it 8oz! I have had plenty of 1/2 burgers and this is not one. Pizza prize is $24 and has shrunk from what it used to be down to barely enough to feed two people. Go to Zukey... pizza feeds 4 and costs less, burgers are way better quality. read more

Seated quickly and waitress appeared shortly thereafter. Waitress took our order and disappeared. Food came quickly, brought by someone else. Ate the very good meal never seeing waitress. Just about finished and original waitress appeared to fill my water and never said a word. After 10-15 minutes waiting for waitress to come back to ask for boxes and bill we finally asked someone else. We were advised she had a large party to take care of. We thought okay that's understandable so had 20% tip out. She then showed up and apologized and then made a comment about being here three minutes ago to fill my water. Appetizers list was lengthy but aren't geared toward the American cuisine lover (as previously discussed, this isn't their cuisine of choice). We (okay...I) got the spinach artichoke dip and oooooooWEE was it scrumptious. For main entree (we went during lunch), I got the Cuban on a gluten free roll with broccoli on the side. The manchild got the Cajun chicken Alfredo. PS!!!! They have GLUTEN FREE PASTA! You can make any of their pasta and mac & cheese dishes gluten free. This isn't an easy find and I'm very grateful of this option. Drinks were NOT watered down. Margaritas were delicious and rum & cokes were strong! Staff: oh my goodness. She didn't skip a beat. Also I need to add I'm terrible with names. But she was so dang nice, always smiled, and never looked to be in a rush. She was one of 2 people, and that included the bartender. She did a stellar job. Parking: pretty good size lot. Wasn't a problem parking at 2pm on Monday but I would think it fills up around dinner time or on a weekend. Seating: from the outside, it looked bigger. It may be because the outside lights extend to the outside patio. High top bar tables, as well as booths inside the bar area. This review is for the appetizer "avocado bruschetta". This was SOdelicious! And FILLING. I'm on the keto diet and this fit right up the bill for a healthy keto meal. Three halves avocado pieces filled with feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olive oil, and the most delightful tasting balsamic vinaigrette. Perfect blend of salt/acid/fat. I was so surprised how good this tasted. It doesn't come to you with just three avocados filled like a three little boats. It comes to you like there avocados overflowing with like the mix of all the other stuff all over the plate...almost like a scramble or a salad. Trust me this is a great meal on it's own. I also got a side of broccoli which in hindsight I did not need. Whenever someone orders a side of something its always hit or miss whatever the portions are. Well the side of broccoli that i got was like 2 or 3 cups of broccoli. So filling and delicious and I was impressed with their generous portions! Definitely recommend coming here. read more
