Delicious kebabs are being served in this small storefront restaurant. I opted for the chicken kebab plate, and the meat was very nicely seasoned and well cooked. For my 3 sides I went with hummus and 2 sides I'd never heard of; soslu patican, a Turkish eggplant dish, and acili ezme, a Turkish condiment made with peppers, tomatoes and spices. Everything was excellent and very tasty. They know how to cook here and the flavors and textures are spot on. Service was friendly and helpful. When the man who waited on us at the counter learned it was our first visit, he brought us each a falafel to try, which was a lovely gesture. This is easily the best Mediterranean food in the area. Not only is it delicious, but it is consistently great every single time. The people who work here have always been kind and helpful. All of the food is excellent, but do yourself a favor and try the lentil soup. They are also happy to give you two sauces if you ask, so make sure to explore the options garlic and hot together are amazing. Stopped by Choupli on a 95-degree day, and unfortunately, the inside was just as warm. The AC wasn't cutting it, and the tables and chairs were noticeably dirty and sticky--not a great first impression. We ordered: * Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($8.99): Burnt bits of chicken, dry overcooked pita, and oversized chunks of tomato and onion that made it tough to eat. * Lamb Kofta Wrap ($9.39): The lamb was tender, but totally overpowered by the veggies. Disappointing overall. * Chicken Kabob Side ($5.99): Well-seasoned but very dry. The special sauce helped, but not enough to save it. Staff was polite, but between the heat, cleanliness, and uneven food quality, it just didn't hit the mark for us. The owner came out and asked us how the food was halfway through our dinner, and offered to give us falafel to try. Very generous, and smart! Cuz those falafels were small but mighty! Told all our friends about this place at the convention and hope it brought them more business. Food was great, but some better than others. Definitely the Bulgur Wheat over the Rice. I've had better rice elsewhere, but bulgur wheat was truly excellent. Baba Ganoush - very good garlic sauce wins over tahini! Tabouli was not the best, as the parsley used was maybe older and tough. house salad - nothing exceptional, but good souls patrician - didn't know what this was, but it's grilled veggies served cold. Definitely a must get. chicken shawarma- felt more dry than moist lamb kofta - actually wanted the lamb kabob, but they had run out. kofta was good. Excellent west side lunch spot. I usually get one of the wraps (kabobs, kafta, shawarma) and they have all been great. Bread, protein, toppings are all super fresh and flavorful. They are well staffed and always move quickly through the lunch line up. Prices are reasonable. And there is some seating inside if you want to dine in. The strip mall it's located in doesn't look the most inviting, but don't let that scare you away. You'll be missing out! read more

I managed to make a nearly completely carb-free meal today (I'm still losing weight on the keto fiet) and that makes me happy. As well, it was delicious and reasonably low priced. So that too, I'm happy. Starting with the beef kabob meal and then adding an extra skewer of chicken (because they were low on beef). On top of a salad, tabouli and the baba ghanoush. Delicious and the toum was super garlicky. This is not much more than a single-wide spot in a strip mall on a busy highway. It's not fancy. But you don't need fancy when you've got delicious. Made me want to ask everyone walking in, "do you come here Koften?" In some ways this place reminds me of Istanbul Grille in Pittsburgh (but probably better), or Mr Kabob Express in Troy in the Detroit Burbs (but def better). One of my fave Mid Eastern places in the whole country, then. The main reason I'm excited to come back to Lansing. Infinitely better than Zaytoon nearby, which gets the plaudits for some (cough Guy Fieri) reason. Also try the Brisket Banh Mi at Capital City BBQ a few miles East. And Momo over in East Lansing is the best Boba shop in the entire Great Lakes - by a distance. But for now, would choupli's come here and try this incredible Kofte and sides. If you want to share the sides with me, I'll start laughing profusely as I divvy them up, and I'll say "my sides are splitting!" Wow! This place is amazing. I was in the area looking for a Mediterranean quick stop restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic! I ordered a chicken swarma plate with rice, bulgur, baba ganoush, and roasted eggplant side (I can't recall the dish name.) I had tahini and garlic sauce on the dish. Everything was super fresh and were super delish! This is probably the best Mediterranean food I've had all year! Each side's flavor was unique, the eggplant baba ganoush had a Smokey flavor, was delish and came topped with pomegranate seeds. Absolutely amazing! Great prices buy the way. $8.49 for a large portion. The staff here were really kool and friendly, didn't rush my group and I even though we arrived 15 minutes before they closed. You can really taste that the food is fresh and good quality. Lamb kofta was delicious, chicken kabob just like in other places, nothing special about it. Hummus and baba ganoush were very tasty, but the best part was the soslu patlican and acili ezme, you really can't find them in other places. Highly recommended to order these, amazing flavor! So here is my honest review on Choupli... For starters, my wife LOVES this place. She always wants to come here if we have a day to spend together. We usually go here before or after a walk in the park. I myself on the other hand, feel like there could be more things they could make an effort to change... For starters, the dining area. It's always nasty, and the tables you have to pretty much clean yourself. I never understood why this is a repeat thing?? It's just laziness at best. When you pay quite a bit of money for mostly rice, you'd expect to be able to eat in a clean environment. Also, don't ask for just a water to drink here... They will give you the smallest damn cup you can find, and you will find yourself frequently visiting the soda machine to refill. Not everyone is a soda drinker, nor do we want Jumex high fructose corn syrup shit. Water does us just fine, and I would suggest offering a bigger size, or BOTTLED WATER for your customers. The staff are super friendly though! I mean, that's one of the things that I look forward to, is seeing the friendly guys working the counter. They always seem so damn happy. As soon as the man behind the counter realized it was our first time, he started sliding samples to us. And not just single bites. Big samples. We went with two plates; one chicken shwarma and one beef kabob. With tabouli and hummus. First, you get a lot of food for the money. The chicken platter was under $8. My bf and his friend were craving shawarma and comfort Mediterranean and recommended ChouPli. On a cold Saturday lunch, we trekked to the restaurant for a pleasant surprise. ChouPli is located in a plaza stretch with Panda Express and KFC nearby (amazing options #morejokes) but there's a healthy Tropical Smoothie next to it. It's a super casual cafe with few scattered tables and chairs and a simple yet hearty menu-- shawarma, kebabs, koftas, falafels, veggie options or meaty ones such as chicken, beef, lamba. You can also choose wraps $5-$7 or plates $7-$9. We all opted for the plates with different meats-- chicken shawarma, beef kebab, and beef kofta. Quality of the taste was savory, tender, and juicy! I was fairly surprised that the seasoning of the meats weren't overly salty or dried out. It was perfectly cooked, not scary, pungent, or unbecoming. I had a sample of the beef kebab and was instantly hooked. The shawarma and kofta were also delicious options pending if you like sliced or grounded/minced protein, but the only gripe I had was that I wish I HAD MOARRR MEAT!!! This restaurant is excellent if you have food allergies. They have always been very clear answering my questions. My toddler has food allergies, and when we went recently I wanted to get her a meal also. I was able to ask the chef about exact ingredients, and was given a clear answer (they use mustard powder in the chicken entrees!)
