Seating area / tables and chairs are dirty and sticky

Stopped by Choupli on a 95-degree day, and unfortunately, the inside was just as warm. The AC wasn't cutting it, and the tables and chairs were noticeably dirty and sticky--not a great first impression. We ordered: * Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($8.99): Burnt bits of chicken, dry overcooked pita, and oversized chunks of tomato and onion that made it tough to eat. * Lamb Kofta Wrap ($9.39): The lamb was tender, but totally overpowered by the veggies. Disappointing overall. * Chicken Kabob Side ($5.99): Well-seasoned but very dry. The special sauce helped, but not enough to save it. Staff was polite, but between the heat, cleanliness, and uneven food quality, it just didn't hit the mark for us. Would love to see some improvements--especially with ventilation and food consistency--before giving it another try. 4411 (visible on the door) Visited June 2025 Photos attached of what we ordered

Thank you for the amazing reviews yelpers! Found this place through yelp while attending a convention in Lansing and could not be more pleased. The owner came out and asked us how the food was halfway through our dinner, and offered to give us falafel to try. Very generous, and smart! Cuz those falafels were small but mighty! Told all our friends about this place at the convention and hope it brought them more business. Food was great, but some better than others. Definitely the Bulgur Wheat over the Rice. I've had better rice elsewhere, but bulgur wheat was truly excellent. Baba Ganoush - very good garlic sauce wins over tahini! Tabouli was not the best, as the parsley used was maybe older and tough. house salad - nothing exceptional, but good souls patrician - didn't know what this was, but it's grilled veggies served cold. Definitely a must get. chicken shawarma- felt more dry than moist lamb kofta - actually wanted the lamb kabob, but they had run out. kofta was good. They give you 2 pieces, and I wish they gave me more! Server was very nice and helpful in helping us decide the sides, and not at all condescending or impatient. thank you!

Excellent food! Found by Yelpers. Glad we stopped by! Super nice people and really flavorful food. I had the lamb kafta with humus, 1/2 wheat/half rice side (wheat is delish!) and a side salad. The hubs had chicken Schwarma and it was amazing too with baba ganoush and eggplant veggies. We definitely will eat here again!

Great little hole in the wall middle eastern fast casual place. The food was tasty and flavorful. The service was excellent. I got the shawarma plate with hummus, rice and salad. My only reason I might say 4 vs 5 star is the pita isn't great. It's just the thin pita, not the warm puffy pita that I like from some places.

I managed to make a nearly completely carb-free meal today (I'm still losing weight on the keto fiet) and that makes me happy. As well, it was delicious and reasonably low priced. So that too, I'm happy. Starting with the beef kabob meal and then adding an extra skewer of chicken (because they were low on beef). On top of a salad, tabouli and the baba ghanoush. Delicious and the toum was super garlicky. This is not much more than a single-wide spot in a strip mall on a busy highway. It's not fancy. But you don't need fancy when you've got delicious. (Not pictured - rice, potatoes, bread. They have those things. I didn't eat them.) [Review 11112 overall, 885 of 2019.]

We walked in just before an early dinner rush and were immediately greeted by the owner and his son. He was very helpful and able to quickly describe the ingredients in each foods we were curious about. The chicken shawarma plate was very flavorful and had a good and shareable portion size. Side note: this place can get packed rather quickly, so if u want to beat the crowd maybe plan on coming during off hours. Either way service seems fast and efficient.

    I'm choupli, thanks for asking

Would Choupli's read some of my Limericks? If it goes right through you it's Poopli If you use a big spoon then it's Scoopli If you love Middle Eastern Then let your eyes feast on The wonderful dishes at Choupli Zaytoon down the road tries to Dupe-li Guy Fieri chose the wrong place, Oopsie! Instead come and try What you cannot deny Is the best Middle Eastern, at Choupli So if your Doggy Dogg is not Snoopy And if your Ship John B is not Sloopy And if birds like to swoop And pick fish from your soup Then come get the best Kebab from Choupli So if you got knocked out by a Roofie And you're drinking a Mistic with a Sufi And your D starts to Droop Then it's time to Regroup With some Kofte and Hummus from Choupli And if you like to have sex in a Groupli But to Donald you never could Stoopli We're all gathering here At the end of the year So come join with the Troupe bound for Choupli But if you're in a fiasco like Lupe And you f***ed an old guy in a Toupe Your perfume made him cough So his hairpiece fell off And it landed on top of your boobie. What. What a coincidence that Choupli offers "Wood Fired" Kabob, because when I showed off my Wood to random co-workers at my most recent job, I ended up Fired. Choupli and Fox! Twinning! What to get: Kofte, Hummus, Eggplant Why: It's just so good. Hummus believe me! Would Choupli's believe me? Not only the best meal I had in Lansing, but the best meal I've ever had in Michigan. One of the most spectacular meals in the whole of the Great Lakes and definitely the most delicious Middle Eastern food I've had within a thousand miles in any direction. Service was a little bit lacking, and while my server was absolutely spectacular beautiful, I could tell she seemed to think I was a typical American - probably because of my muscles covered in baby oil that were out and on display in my slutty muscle top - and my annoying adopted American accent, which I'll make an effort to lose in future. She kept trying to convince me to get french fries and house salad. No thanks I want the eggplant and the hummus. Kthxbye. And the sides were nothing short of miraculous. I can't even choose between them, but try the Hummus, the special Eggplant, and everything else they have. Don't blame me if you break into foodgasms. I warned you in advance. Just call me Jennifer Warnes. Or the Warner Brother. The Kofte Kebab itself, despite not being piping hot, having been sitting around bathing in its own juices for awhile, was simultaneously lukewarm and heavenly. It was so wet and juicy (probably from sitting around), but so perfectly spiced and flavoured with such a heavenly texture. One of the best Koftes I've had ever. Made me want to ask everyone walking in, "do you come here Koften?" In some ways this place reminds me of Istanbul Grille in Pittsburgh (but probably better), or Mr Kabob Express in Troy in the Detroit Burbs (but def better). One of my fave Mid Eastern places in the whole country, then. The main reason I'm excited to come back to Lansing. Infinitely better than Zaytoon nearby, which gets the plaudits for some (cough Guy Fieri) reason. Also try the Brisket Banh Mi at Capital City BBQ a few miles East. And Momo over in East Lansing is the best Boba shop in the entire Great Lakes - by a distance. But for now, would choupli's come here and try this incredible Kofte and sides. If you want to share the sides with me, I'll start laughing profusely as I divvy them up, and I'll say "my sides are splitting!" And if you're frisky and down for the D, and you'd like to find out if Choupli's me as much as Barbie does, then give me a few minutes to get my Wood Fired up, and it'll be a pleasure to skewer your kebab for you.

When I think of a kabob I imagine grilled meat, but the lamb didn't have any char, so I'm not sure how it was cooked. Over all the food and service were good. This new location has been open for 1 month everything ran extremely well. We had a hard time deciding as we all love Mediterranean food! They helped us put together a perfect platter which included grilled lamb and beef kabobs as well as kefta - ground beef or lamb with added parsely and spices. All served over rice and fine noodles with sautéd vegetables peppers (not spicy at all), carrots and squash. It was delicious! We were surprised when our meal came with hummus and warm pita bread topped with olive oil. We also ordered large Greek salad which was dressed with plenty of olives and feta cheese. Fall is a hectic time in the Beverly household. Hot on the heels of what felt like the fastest…read more summer of all time, the chaos that is melding work, school, sports, and community schedules is live and direct. With four girls all at different stages of life, my much better half and I are typically frenetic throughout the week and certainly don't slow down on the weekends. We also have an additional challenge of working on MSU's campus and living on the westside- which, I'm sure I don't have to tell any of our readers, has been so much fun with construction. Some days, I crisscross the city six different times with meetings, practices, games, school fun nights, and family obligations. All of this means, that time for cooking at home can be limited and the energy to do so is even less. Even when I have my act together enough to make multiple meals ahead on a Sunday, the luxury of even thirty additional minutes at home and not warming a meal for starving adolescents seems sublime. We are often guilty of choosing the quicker option of dining out/take out, which brings on transactional costs in health and quality. So where does one find quick, healthier food options? Enter Middle Eats, the Warren, MI- based food chain that specializes in Mediterranean food which opened in Frandor in August of 2024. A cousin of chicken hot spot, Wing Snob, the endeavor aims to be fast, fresh, and healthy with its combination of bowls, wraps, and salads. They also strive to be convenient by offering a drive-thru option and online ordering to expedite their service. The full menu is customizable much like national branded fast Mexican assembly line chains, but absent the ability to watch your food as its prepared. What's Good The Spicy Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($8.99) was stout. Packed with shredded chicken that was tender and flavorful, pita chips, lettuce, grilled onions (optional, $.99), pickles, garlic spread, and spicy Dillio sauce. Dillio sauce is a yogurt-based dressing with garlic, shallots, lemon juice, and dill. The sauce was yummy but not overpowering nor overly fiery. A reasonably priced handheld that is big on yum and fills the hunger pangs. Not as healthy, but also high on the tasty factor are the Loaded Shawarma Fries ($11.99). I ordered them with steak ($2.00) and I was not happy I did. Thick cut, carnival style fries are topped with meat, feta cheese, diced onions, jalapeños, tomato (none for me thanks), and spicy Dillio sauce. This dish was large enough to share amongst the family, and we had leftovers. The added bonus was the pita bread on the bottom that soaks up all the delicious drippings. What's Really Good Middle Eats will be a go-to at our house for years to come because of their bowls. Whether you choose rice or lettuce as a foundation, you can load up the rest of the bowl with plenty of protein and veggies from a wide variety. My wife ordered the Falafel Bowl ($12.99) which a strong choice for vegetarians. Crisp, lightly fried falafel (deep fried balls of ground chickpeas and herbs) are joined by your choice of hummus and/or garlic spread, regular or spicy Dillio sauce, and then lettuce, feta, onions, rice, pickles, and tomatoes. The falafel was satisfying in both the exterior crunch and the warm and fluffy interior. The herbaceous flavors melded well with the hummus and veggies. Additional upcharges include cucumber, eggplant, or grilled peppers. On a previous lunch visit with a colleague, I ran into a high school friend who was there with her daughter who didn't have school that day. She revealed that Middle Eats has become their restaurant of choice for Mediterranean fare because of the convenience and value. My teammate and I both ordered bowls, him the Chicken Shawarma ($12.99) and I the Surf & Turf ($21.33). Both of us were satisfied and with the heaping mounds of meat and veggies and the accompanying sauces. Best Bite A special nod this month goes to the Fire Grilled Shrimp ($6.99/Skewer). Plump and juicy with just a touch of kick, but a ton of flavor, these crustaceans rival many of the top seafood and steakhouses in the area. Added to a salad or bowl and they are incredible, but also divine on their own atop a bed of rice. I look forward to finding time to enjoy Middle Eats Fire Grilled Shrimp in new ways including in wraps or on loaded fries.
