Great sunset cruise! Captain Mark was very knowledgeable about HHI and used humor throughout the ride. It was so much fun to watch the sun set as we rode through the water and then watch fireworks as we went to dock. We saw many dolphins and animals during the ride. It was great for children and adults alike! I'd recommend this for all visitors!

What a great time we had on the Holiday with Captain Mark! Captain Mark was personable and "puny". We saw several dolphins, jelly fish, birds, including an Osprey! We also saw beautiful homes, and lots of people enjoying the water ... parasailing, paddle boating, kayaking, jet skiing etc. the trip was interesting and a good bargain. We loved how clean and safe the ride was. It's a nice riding large double decker boat with lots of seating, We will definitely be doing this again next time we are in Hilton Head!

We were 'that' family who made the boat leave 10 minutes late. I'm sure the mostly full boat was less than pleased with us. We had trouble finding parking - parking was plentiful but (our own) time pressure did not help us. The captain very graciously waiting for our party of 7 and we had a really great experience. The captain has 20,000+ trips and shared too many details to share here, but it was very informative. The dolphins were hiding or out of sight on the way out, but on the way back we did some circling in place so that everyone in every part of the boat had a chance to see them. The captain made sure everyone got the full 1.5 hour experience and docked us 10 minutes late (sorry everyone). Wonderful boat and staff and Captain Mark is a true local treasure - highly recommended. We also kayaked to see wildlife, but if you can't do that you need to experience it this way. Local workers are facing increasing fees to stay on the island and bring joy to tourists so tip well and help them continue to do the work they love.

Captain mark was amazing. He took us to places that were little hidden gems. Would defiantly recommend!! We saw tons of dolphins. Also might I add he took the time to show our boys the little creatures of the ocean while we walked the sand island. Great experience. Thanks Captain Mark, Troy & Elissa

No complaints! Easy to get to the dock. Very informative trip down Broad Creek with beautiful views. We didn't see a ton of dolphins, but we did get a great view of a few from both the upper and lower decks. Kids loved it!

This is one of the top boat tours I've ever been on! Captain Mark didn't let this tour get boring not one bit! He even introduced us to his family and his adorable grandchildren! 40 years that he mentioned he has been in this kinda business and it definitely shows! I would take this tour again!

Everything about this was easy. Parking, payment, all of it. The boat is big and smooth, just like Captain Mark himself. The scenery is profoundly beautiful and it's always great to be out in the water. We saw plenty of dolphin, too. Want to see some photos I took from the deck? Well alright!! Here ya go!

This was a fun, informative and laidback cruise around the marshes and towards the Atlantic Ocean. We saw dolphins, amazing houses, and a beautiful sunset. The captain was very informative. I think some of the kids got bored because it was a long ride but there was a lot for us to enjoy as we sat back and relaxed. They also have some cheap snacks and non alcoholic drinks for purchase.

Ask the Community - Captain Mark's Dolphin Cruise

Do you have to book on line?

No. We also do not take reservations over the phone because the “Holiday” is a pretty big boat and there is always room. So if you just want to show up and pay on the boat you can. Always a good idea to call ahead though just to make sure there…

For nostalgic reasons, I decided to treat the family to one on our visit to Hilton Head this year. We were fortunate to find a parking space in the parking lot near the Lighthouse at Sea Pines. We walked around a bit until one of the benches in the harbor opened up. The family stayed there while I went to figure out where to get onto the boat. This gave me the opportunity to take some pictures in the harbor. When we boarded the boat, we were guided to a table on the lower deck which was air conditioned. The sun was blazing through the window and we unfortunately did not have a shade that we could pull down like there were at some of the other tables. We made the best of it. Our server was very friendly. He explained that he was working to meet people and to see what he could learn. By the end of the trip, he exchanged information with my son. The meal was surprisingly good. I was skeptical and thought that it might be bland because it was mass produced. Every dish was prepared well and had good flavor. Everyone in my party truly enjoyed their meals. The sights are tremendous. We saw a few dolphins while the boat was underway. The sunset was breathtaking. I definitely recommend this experience.

The narration was informative, and seeing the massive cargo ships and waterfront activity was a unique experience. The boat was spacious, with both indoor seating and outdoor viewing areas. We ordered the chicken tenders and fries, and they were surprisingly good--definitely above average for food on a sightseeing cruise. We also opted for the 42 oz souvenir drink, which was well worth it if you plan on enjoying a few drinks during the cruise. It lasts the full three-hour experience, and the bartender was fantastic--friendly, personable, and made a great drink. Unfortunately, it rained during part of our cruise, which likely impacted the experience since we couldn't spend as much time outside taking in the views. Of course, the weather isn't something the company can control, and there was plenty of indoor seating to stay comfortable. Overall, this was a fun and worthwhile experience that I'd recommend to first-time visitors, couples, and families. Between the scenic views, interesting narration, better-than-expected food, and excellent bar service, it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on the Savannah River. I'd definitely return--hopefully on a sunny day next time.

There was some history mixed in along the way, which was interesting, and the whole experience was relaxing. The food was probably the weakest part for me. It was served buffet style with fried chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, plus fruit. It wasn't bad, but it was all pretty lukewarm and just didn't leave much of an impression. That said, I don't think people are booking this for the food anyway. You're booking it for the views, the boat, and the experience. We had fun, enjoyed the ride, and I'm glad we did it.
