Pinky made the ride fun - interacting with the children, and educated us all about how to protect our oceans. The boat ride was an hour and fifteen minutes. The perfect amount of time for young children. The boat is comfortable and holds approximately 20 to 25 people. Once Nina was found, she stayed in character the entire time. Even when the evil Professor Al G tried to kidnap her. Nina explained how to protect the ocean and encouraged questions from children and adults too. When I was scheduling this excursion, I thought it was a little pricey, but after the experience was over (and watching how much fun my daughter had) I changed my mind and realized it was worth every penny! Along the way, he gave us some fun pieces of local history and made us feel at home. It was windy that day, and he brought along extra jackets, blankets, and hats to make us feel comfortable. Plus, the boat is a smaller 12 person vessel that made it a more adventurous boat ride than the bigger boats that some of the other companies use.

The mission was to check on two submerged data collection devices and to gather data on bottlenose dolphins that we spotted along the way. As we traveled, Captain Amber and the students gave us background information about the project, and allowed us to hear recordings of dolphins and various types of fish. We helped Captain Amber and the students spot many dolphins, including a mother and her calf. Using photos of the dolphins' dorsal fins, they were able to identify several "local" dolphins as well as some migratory dolphins just visiting the area. With Spartina, you feel like more that just a tourist on a boat filled with other tourist. You actually get to help support efforts to maintain the fragile beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Being it is a holiday we get there early and have breakfast within walking distance so we can get parking. Must have been our lucky day as we got the best parking space in the lot. We were instructed to arrive 45 minutes before the tour. Since we were there and checked in early as was the other group of six we left actually a few minutes early. The weather was perfect and we had on plenty of sunscreen. JD led the boats to different spots on the island so that we were able to see Dolphins. I was surprised that in the middle of the day that we were able to see so many. JD was kind and took pictures and sent them to everyone through What's App. What a great way to spend the day as well learn the island. The entire length of the trip was 2 1/2 hours. Definitely a must do on anyone visiting the Island. Just be warned you will get wet so plan accordingly. You are given a small cooler with ice and bottle waters

The narration was informative, and seeing the massive cargo ships and waterfront activity was a unique experience. The boat was spacious, with both indoor seating and outdoor viewing areas. We ordered the chicken tenders and fries, and they were surprisingly good--definitely above average for food on a sightseeing cruise. We also opted for the 42 oz souvenir drink, which was well worth it if you plan on enjoying a few drinks during the cruise. It lasts the full three-hour experience, and the bartender was fantastic--friendly, personable, and made a great drink. Unfortunately, it rained during part of our cruise, which likely impacted the experience since we couldn't spend as much time outside taking in the views. Of course, the weather isn't something the company can control, and there was plenty of indoor seating to stay comfortable. Overall, this was a fun and worthwhile experience that I'd recommend to first-time visitors, couples, and families. Between the scenic views, interesting narration, better-than-expected food, and excellent bar service, it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on the Savannah River. I'd definitely return--hopefully on a sunny day next time.

There was some history mixed in along the way, which was interesting, and the whole experience was relaxing. The food was probably the weakest part for me. It was served buffet style with fried chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, plus fruit. It wasn't bad, but it was all pretty lukewarm and just didn't leave much of an impression. That said, I don't think people are booking this for the food anyway. You're booking it for the views, the boat, and the experience. We had fun, enjoyed the ride, and I'm glad we did it.

Forget about how fun the boats alone are...Bailey gave us clear instructions on use and made sure that even our youngest driver was comfortable on the water. Beyond that, Bailey made sure to point out different wildlife, track dolphins with us, tour the island highlights and took SO many great photos that he shared after our day. Please thank Bailey and keep up the FUN. This is such a great activity for literally all ages!

Then we went into the low country...it was beautiful and plenty to see. Got to see a huge eagles nest and the eagles were flying high and hunting. The Catamarans had 30hp on them and they scooted across the flat water all in a very safe and comfortable fashion. We had Ben as a guide and he was very good and made a solid point to stop and speak about the areas we were exploring. He stopped at Dolphin Head Beach which was fine..but I would have preferred to spend that time cruising in the water. It's a well run organization that knows the area. I will Plan on doing this trip again when we return.
