Great place! Good music that ends at 8pm. Food was great, ambiance was perfect as we sat outside.

We came to this restaurant multiple times throughout our trip & every time was a sad event. You would think if they add their own gratuity and ask for more on top of that it would be a top notch place but no. The service is never fast, every-time we ordered food with sauce we had to ask 2 or 3 times for the sauce. They only serve Pepsi products :/ & don't have a lot of variety. Again we only came here for connivence but felt like a waste of money every-time for mid food and bad service :( Wish the resort had more options. read more

It's very clean in there. The persons working there are very nice. I had a cheeseburger and fries it was good. The fries are like seasoned steak fries and they gave me plenty. If you go, be sure to take a look at the drink menu because I feel like there are some drinks I should try before we leave . If you're staying at the Dunes it's near Starbucks. read more

This year the food was excellent. They seem to experiment and change up how they do things periodically. Some years are better than others. This year was a good one. I hope they keep it like it is. The steak was a ribeye. Perfect temperature. Well seasoned. ( in myrtle-the bonefish grill-- stopped offering ribeye much to the kids' dismay! So they were happy to get ribeye at Captain's cafe.) The fried seafood (shrimp and fish) was perfectly cooked and well seasoned! Even the fries were great this year. Hush puppies were good this year as well. Servers were friendly and kind. We have always been treated well by the staff year after year. This is where the kids go when they win a milk shake playing the games. The bartenders are always nice to the kids. We stayed at dunes village and had dinner at captains cafe one night. It is an unassuming place and really relaxed ambience. We ordered calamari, French fries, onion rings, nachos and pork tacos.. and the food was really tasty. The margaritas are really made well and had good amount of liquor in it. We also ordered the voodoo juice and it was awesome too. The staff was friendly and took good care of us. All in all, a good experience and if you stay here and don't want to go out then this is a good option. read more

Whatever you do don't order the Philly cheesesteak sandwich the "steak" tastes like dog food. Burger was ok. Fries taste wilted even store bought frozen fries taste better. read more

Cheap cocktails and a good Bloody Mary....but the food is definitely boxed/frozen. The calamari was a prime example of this. Venture out if you're looking for a meal. read more

Honestly, this food was terrible. My husband had the sliders and I had the Philly Cheesesteak. I ate 2 bites and threw it away. My husband had one of the three sliders as he was starving and threw the rest away. Ordered a Dunes iced tea (like a LIT) there a few nights later, and it was also terrible! read more

I would give no stars if I could. We dined here the first night of our week long vacation, what a mistake! we ordered burgers my husband with fries , mine with veggies. After one bite of the burger, we had to inquire if we received the non meat option, gross tastes like crap. The veggies consisted of broccoli and carrots, and even they were cold and tasted like straight vinegar. The best part about the dining experience was that I never have to eat here again! read more

You should listen to the Yelper's regardless of how old the last review was........oh my!!! Walked in, no wait at 6 PM in a resort that was full of people, first sign something was amiss. Asked the waitress for recommendations between nachos, hot dogs and a Ribeye and had no clear response, second sign. Ribeye came out in like 5 minutes, 3rd and final sign. Started with a buffalo shrimp cocktail that wasnt all that bad which gave it 1 star and then a she crab soup that also wasnt the worst I've had. That's about it from there. My lovely wife got the "crab cake", aka, sponge Bob crabby paddie more like it. Deep fried mush that had this big mac sauce looking stuff over the top of them with out the big mac flavor. Horrible 20 bucks there. I got the Ribeye cause I'm a sucker for a good steak and I had not eaten all day so it looked too good to pass up, even though I should have. The steak came paired with baby golden potatoes that were, get this, microwaved. Really, do they not know what a nuked tater tastes like???? What a joke. The steak was a little under cooked which for me, is not that big of a deal. However, undercooked steak should be super flavorful and this was anything but. Kicker was, the waitress never asked how the food was which if needed another strike, that would have been it. I'm gonna close now as my belly is not feeling all that great. Mediocre food with slow and forgetful service. The Captain's Platter of mixed seafood was fine, but unspectacular, with extremely salty fries. It didn't come with lemon, and when I asked the waiter for a lemon wedge it went entirely forgotten the few times we did see him afterwards. Water refills were also slow despite only 4 tables being seated in the entire restaurant at the time. My girlfriend ordered a buffalo chicken wrap that was ok, but the accompanying mac & cheese was completely flavorless. With so many good restaurants in the area it's not worth the mild convenience of not having to drive a couple minutes from the resort. read more

We stayed at Dune's and had dinner here once. This was clearly the worst possible meal we had on a week long trip to South Carolina. We ordered 4 dishes, 1) salmon 2) chicken quesadilla 3) chicken breast and 4) onion rings. All 4 were very subpar except for onion rings. Salmon was very dry, seemed like a frozen fillet was cooked without thawing. Chicken breast was dry and chewy to the point of being inedible. Chicken quesadilla was extra salty. Would stay away from this. Would have given 0 stars if I could. read more

Stayed at Dunes Village many times but didn't go to the Captain's Cafe (except for the Voodoo bucket!) and I was greatly surprised. They are only doing take out and delivery due to covid. They were so fast, friendly and food was delicious. We ended up ordering here for 3 nights of our 5 night stay. Loaded fries, chef salad, nachos were all great and good portion sizes. I will be ordering from here every time we stay! read more

Stayed here for a family reunion and nearly half of us got sick. Go with something if you must eat here. The food is definitely frozen and the staff is beyond rude. They wouldn't seat us because they said we had 8 people (even though their menu has policies for parties of 8+ having to tip a certain amount.) read more

I cannot tell you how surprised we were to dine at this tiny little hole in the wall inside the Dunes Village Resort. We had just checked in and were starving. As the only place to get lunch in the resort, we sat down hoping for something at least edible. Imagine our surprise when we ended up with a meal worth Yelping! Everything we ordered was very good and the service was simply exceptional. My husband ordered the garlic and parmesan crusted chicken breast with spicy Thai sauce and it was amazing. Seriously. It sounds sketchy, but it was excellent. I ordered crab cakes after the very friendly waitress recommended them. They were wonderful. Large chunks of crab meat and very little filler made the tasty remoulade sauce almost unnecessary. Our son chose the popcorn shrimp which was much more than the usually overbreaded fare. The waitress happily swapped out french fries for a fresh fruit salad of just sliced apples and bananas. The chef at the Dunes would do with being snatched up with her staff and plopped into a better venue. The food and service at this location deserved better than the afterthought the Dunes Village Resort has given it. read more

Service was awful. Our waitress barely checked in on us. We waited more than an hour for 4 meals. The kitchen was backed up and food was barely coming out. People were asking us if they should come and eat here and we just shook our heads. We could have been playing on the beach instead of experiencing this. We will NEVER eat here again and I advise ANYONE ELSE to NOT eat here. Ever. Unless you want to spend an hour plus waiting on mediocre food. Service was so horrible to the point that I made this account only to review this place. It was that bad. This was all topped off by watching a cockroach crawling up the wall and waiting an hour and a half for a very over cooked burger. read more
