I've eaten at many restaurants in my 69 years, but this one is unbelievable. We were the second of three parties waiting to be seated. The hostess stops in the middle of assigning to yell ( yes, yell) at a customer who was standing in the doorway leaving the door open. There was little room to get everyone in with the door closed, but we squeezed together to allow for more space. We were then pointed to an assistant who was given menus. We were guided to a corner table where people were already seated. We told the assistant that we would sit at another table, but she said no and proceeded to run two men up from the table. I've never had people run from a table at a restaurant to seat other guests. There were multiple small tables that were empty. I'm thinking there were only three tables with guests. As it turned out the people occupying our table and the one beside it had gathered for a birthday party and had spilled over to two other tables. Certainly not their fault. There was no offer to wipe our table which I thought restaurants did. It was very embarrassing for us to uproot people who had gathered for a fun event and rude to them to be run up from a table to seat someone else. It could have been handled discretely, and we all would have been happier. There was plenty of room in that dining area to have made a quick change and then a discreet reminder to the other table's occupants that the seats were needed for other customers. Just think, if you go to this restaurant, you could be yelled at for not closing a door, you could force people into switching tables, and you could eat at a table that has not been wiped down. There was one highlight. Our waitress was very sweet. I hope she gets a job at a nicer restaurant. We won't be back to this one! read more

Had to try it before I posted the picture, hence the missing shrimp. Man, this place is amazing. Great customer service, and the shrimp and grits (shown in the picture) out of hand! I dropped in on a trip back home by complete coincidence. And man, did I not regret that decision! Good food and an awesome server (Lisa), but the staff at the front desk was rude, especially Cathy. Cathy didn't appreciate that we showed up 30 minutes prior to their closing. Lisa made us feel welcome, and made sure we knew what was good to eat on the menu. She catered to all of our different nutritional needs. We are three stuffed customers! Back to Cathy: She turned the air off! She actually went to the thermostat, a few feet away from our table, and turned off the air! Oh, and did I mention, when I walked in a few minutes behind my friends, with one foot in the door, Cathy asked me "Are you with them?" I did not appreciate her tone. Cathy needs to embrace her seniorhood and retire. read more

We were very eager to try this restaurant because we had heard so many positive things. However, this experience was not a good one. While our server, Courtney, was very good, I was very disappointed with the management. I ordered the California Cobb salad and the presentation was beautiful but I found a hair in it. I showed it to the server and she immediately replaced the salad with another one that did not look anywhere near as good. Management NEVER came over and addressed the issue nor apologized for the hair being in my dinner. We paid the bill and left and won't be back. Very disappointed in this establishment. read more

We are not from the local area and were not sure what to expect, but we're extremely pleased with the freshness and quality of our meal. The seafood was delicious and the steak was fantastic!! Nice place... We were quickly seated by the veteran waitstaff and offered some great meal and wine suggestions. I had the shrimp and grits...the SC state meal! It was outstanding! Janie had a Caesars salad she said was salty. The wine something horse red merlot and very good and we enjoyed the bread. I loved it probably more than Janie although she was a big fan of the wine! I preferred this restaurant over the other one in town and def look forward to coming back one day! read more

Conveniently located off of I95, my first impressions of this place is the local senior population gives it a thumbs up! I would say the average age of the diners present on this evening was 65! I found the dated decor to be nostalgic . The lighting was a little bright but I could clearly see the place was clean and well kept! My expectations were minimal considering all of this and the fact it was so close to the interstate. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was super nice and attentive . He was from Sommerton, a nearby small town and he had a very thick accent which was cute. He was attentive and fast, but not hovering, which was nice. We started with an appetizer of the shrimp jammers- which were jam good! Breaded and fried shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapeños . I definitely recommend! For entree we ordered the crab stuffed grouper topped with blackened shrimp and the mixed grilled seafood platter with mahi, scallops and shrimp . The portion sizes were good and I found the grouper to be tender with good flavor. The shrimp were very good too . Although the mahi tasted to be slightly overcookedand a little tough it had the potential to be very good if cooked correctly. The scallops were also very tasty. During the course of my meal I ordered the Malbec by the glass and it was excellent. This restaurant was a nice surprise to find and I will dine here again if in the area ! read more

We took my dad here to celebrate his 77th Birthday! We had a party of 8 and even with our large group everything was perfect! Perfect for us after traveling! Last night, we stayed at the charming Best Western Plus, and were hungry but not voracious. With great verbal and written recommendations, we called Captain's Quarters from our room (248 on dial) for a reservation, and Pam took our name, calling us back when a table ready. How convenient to walk out our door to dinner! Thanks, Pam! Our server was Melanie, a veteran server there for 21 years who clearly loves her job, greeting us with a warm welcome and smile! I chose two appetizers as my dinner, and my husband had the popcorn shrimp, which looked like full-sized, and he said they were great. I really enjoyed my crawfish bites with remoulade sauce. And my fried green tomatoes with apricot jelly. Coke products, yayy! Lovely and quiet nautical decor, very clean. Watched the busboys carefully wipe off tables with clean paper towels and spray, not rags. Melanie took good care of us, kept us in drinks and gave us plenty of attention. I met up with family here last night as they were travelling south on I95. We arrived around 8pm (they close at 9pm) and while waiting for the table, went to the bar to get a drink. The bar still allows smoking indoors, so be prepared for that. The table for our dining was well placed in a quaintly decorated room with a faux stuffed marlin above the mantle. Our server was very friendly and a pleasure to work with. We started with the appetizers of shrimp cocktail and calamari, both of which tasted fine, but the portion did seem small for the calamari. My entrée of choice was the shrimp n grits, simply because the shrimp was wrapped in bacon, and bacon makes everything good, right? Honestly, it wasn't bad, but the grits seemed like they were closer to a cream of wheat consistency. Luckily, enough cheese was on the grits, in addition to the bacon grease, that I happily ate the entire dish and wiped it all up with the amazing warm bread that was served to us. I would actually recommend this restaurant to friends who were travelling through and needed a place to stop for a quick bite off of the interstate, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't judge a South Carolina seafood experience based on this one location if I were a traveler passing through. read more

This restaurant is located next to the Best Western Plus right off of RT. 95. First, let me say the people are very pleasant and friendly. As a jersey girl, this is a culture shock...lol. But, I enjoyed it none the less. We visited the restaurant around 7pm on a Sunday night, and there was a 30-45 minute wait. Once we were seated our server promptly appeared ( she was very sweet) and our dining experience begun. The food was really good!! I would say it's comparable with what you would find at your local chain Red Lobsters only with added specialty dishes like frog legs, shrimp and grits, etc. The prime rib was really good & so were the crab legs. The ambience was great as well. They only downfall (and this is a major one for me) they allow smoking inside the restaurant. I was seated close to the bar area so I'm not sure if smoking was just allowed at the bar, or throughout. In any event, I detest the smell of cigarette smoke and I don't want to eat around it. Other than that everything was great. The 3 star rating is because of the smoking, minus the smoking this is definitely a 4 star dinning experience. read more

Absolutely the best restaurant within 20 miles of Wyboo Plantation. In fact, it's the only place I've found in two years where you can get something cooked that isn't fried or was pork BBQ. It was a pleasure to have fresh broiled fish served with sliced lemons and a salad that comes on a chilled plate. Our server, Lisa, was outstanding and a pleasure to talk to. I'd recommend making reservations as it tends to get crowded as soon as it opens. The only thing missing was that they had no draft beer. However, they do have bottled beer and wine. read more

Best thing about this place is that they were playing my kind of music. 2d best, it was directly across the street from my hotel. I had an the evening special 'seafood grill'...blackened salmon, shrimp and scallops with a salad and bread. Typical salad. The bread was a mass of chewy dough. Not sure if it had once been baked then nuked to reheat but it was awful. Salmon was not overcooked which is always a good thing but it was not a stand out. My major problem with this restaurant is cleanliness. The wall next to my table was disgusting. Hopefully I can add the pic, the restaurant will acknowledge and address. read more

Great place, great food. It's my goal stop on trips to to back from Florida and the Northeast. I stay at the Best Western here so I can enjoy the food, and drinks and not drive. . Pam is an amazing bar tender. Makes a great drink, is friendly, keeps the conversation great. I look forward to her at the bar and the great food here on my way to and from Florida. Been here over 10 times. Seafood is great, if you want Turf, steaks are lovely. I keep coming back. read more

My daughter had fried jumbo shrimp and fries...and my mom had giant snow crabs legs... We all enjoyed our food and everything was so fresh... Even the sweet tea was good. July 2nd had an anniversary dinner here. Food and Service was fine. The Dining room layout and ambiance was also fine. Everything down to the dessert went well. Then we got our check ...reviewed it ....put my Visa Card in the folder and the next hour was a letdown. It too 20 minutes to find our waiter's return...only to here from him that there computer was down and they could only except cash...but if we could wait maybe it will boot up shortly. The wife and I waited about 20 more minutes then I took all the cash I had in my wallet and all my wife had plus vacation money in our car to cover the bill. Finally got the waiter back and asked him to just bill my card later...but he said he could not do that without authorization from his manager...but he was off today and untraceable. We paid our bill left broke and will never return. read more

We were very pleased with our dinner. We stayed at the Best Western Plus, next door, so easily walked over to the restaurant. Laid out as a charming warren of little rooms made for a cozy feel. We were seated promptly, without a reservation, and warmly greeted by our waitress. Our drinks, salads, and entree were served very efficiently. It was a little rapid fire, bim-bam-boom, rather than a leisurely dining event, but it worked for us as we were anxious to get back to our room. On this Sunday night before NYE, the restaurant was bustling. Our food was very tasty. We both had the chopped steak which was cooked perfectly, nicely charred and juicy. It was served with a standard house salad, and we both ordered a baked potato, mine was loaded. The sour cream and butter were served in packets. The prices were reasonable, especially the Coors Light which was only $3 per can. It's a convenient spot with good food and agreeable service. We'll come back next time in Santee! read more

We had stopped at our destination for the night and since this restaurant was right next door, we thought we'd give it a try. We were seated right away and our server, Mary Ann came to take our drink orders and tell us about the dinner specials. She was so pleasant and when we asked questions was very informative. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and it was served with a marinara sauce. It was really good. For our entrees we ordered the stuffed grouper on Mary Ann's recommendation. It was delicious--nicely flavored and prepared just right. We had a choice of sides and I decided to get brave and try the grits. I was surprised at how good they were, but Mary Ann had said they were good and she was right. Of course, they had cream and butter and other sinful things in them! Also had the salad with blue cheese and pecans. Yum! Husband enjoyed his sides too. Needless to say, we were too full for dessert, but the offerings looked good from what we saw going to other tables. If ever in the area again, this would be a place we would definitely return to. read more
