Charcuterie is all I need to be convinced to stop by a place. Give me cheese and crackers on a plate and I'm sold. But I'm so glad I stopped to sample everything that Captain's Walk had to offer. The staff was super generous and friendly. I'm a big fruity/desert wine person, and not a traditional wine enthusiast. That being said: their white moscato was incredible. Also got to enjoy some cherry cider from door county, which was some of the best I've had. Their Crostinis and Charcuterie paired so nicely with all of it as well. Absolute perfect vibes for a summer evening. We stopped here since our hotel was across the street, and it turned into one of my favorite spots in the city. Enjoyed our visit at the Captains walk Winery on a cold winter afternoon. It's a cool old house place and the staff is nice. But seemed a little disorganized as there is new ownership. I had the privilege to attend a wine tasting at this Winery while on a bus tour from Grafton, WI last week. It was an amazing experience. I never heard of this little winery but I'm so glad it was a part of the tour because it was one of the highlights of the trip. I love wine and never pass up an opportunity to learn about good ones. I was very surprised to find two delicious red wines in the collection here. I usually find red wines very dry and tasteless. The Sommlier shared the Sangiovese -- a spicy red that had me smitten at the first taste! You'll have to go try some for yourself to see what strikes your fancy but take some money because, if you're like me, you'll want more than one bottle to take home! There are a few other other things to purchase but this is a winery so plan to spend on wine! They have a wine club for those who don't live in Green Bay but you'll miss out on the fun of the wine tasting!!! I say, plan a trip to the leaves of Lambeau Field. Then, find this gem and hang out for a few hours. If you have time, stop in the auto museum across the street!!! read more

A nice night out. It was a beautiful evening so we had a glass of wine, a cheese cracker and sausage plate, a Mediterranean flat bread on the front lawn. There was music tonight to add to the night. Inside a very cool Victorian home is the wine tasting and bistro with seating. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful when choosing our wine. Definitely recommend the flat breads. As someone who doesn't do wine, I was thrill to hear they did cider tastings. 4 uniquely offered varieties (bourbon barrel brown, passion fruit, wisconsin maple brown, and cold brew (made with local apples and Honduran coffee). The artisan charcuterie was an insanely nice value. For $8.99, it had espresso, merlot, and blueberry cobbler cheeses along with summer sausage, prosciutto, and apples cider sausage for meats! I used to come here all the time! Once was a great place to be. I arrive and the two ladies are too busy complaining about each other. One worker bragged about how she skips over people in line at the Daily Buzz since she's apparently special.... Lady asks how I am and I mentioned it was really cold and the lady said "So what go run around outside for ten miles ahahahahaha." What? I don't get any offers mentioned so I missed out on the Lavender Riesling. I had to wait for about ten minutes to get greeted. Nobody else was being served. Then apparently VIP customers came in since they got waited on me prior. Disappointing and will never go back. There's better places to get wine in town. read more

We had a blast at Captains Walk! The ladies were friendly and knowledgeable with helping us choose the perfect flight of wines and ciders. The Door County Cherry cider was a favorite! This place is super cute ! I should've took more pictures but the staff (I don't even want to call them that) were super nice and helpful. I did the $5 wine tasting and fell in love with the Wisconsin Maple Brown Cider .... it's delicious now my favorite angry orchard has competition :-) So sad I didn't find this place prior to our departure but I will return for sure !! I found this gem in the heart of Green Bay 4 years ago when I was invited to a wine tasting. Look, if you like wine and you are coming to Green Bay to take in a game or tour of the stadium and you like wine: this place is made for you. Do a wine tasting which is very inexpensive. The staff working will tell you about the wine and anything u need to know and more. This place was once a home. Said to be haunted: Elisha Morrow built the home in 1857 for his wife, a local woman named Josephine Sayre and his six beautiful daughters. The second youngest daughter, Helen Morrow, inherited the home and owned it until 1920. She was forced to sell the house due to financial hardship. Since 2006, Captain's Walk Winery has been this house's latest tenant. I have been told the lights will flicker around 2-3 each day. I inquired about this and found it always happens and just here and there. The power company can. OT find anything wrong with any wiring. But it is the whole house/building that flickers! Well true story: today( 11/12/19) with my daughter today around 2pm the lights did flicker. I have to say: it kinda was cool! Staff have personally told me about books falling off shelves, hearing footsteps upstairs well after the winery is closed & no one is upstairs, glasses just falling off shelves. You get the idea.... Now back to this great place and my review: the staff is so very friendly and knowledgeable. There is not only a tasting room but another area you can just sit down and have your glass of wine. Small menu, but cool snacks that are out of this world. Get the cheese and meat plat. Only $9-$10, goes with the wine great, and all the various meats and cheeses are the best of the best from local markets. There is rooms upstairs that you can reserve for friends after a tasting. Captains walk winery comes up with some really fun pairings for their flights. I'm not a cider person normally but paired with the candy, it really brought out the unique flavors. I have been coming to Captains Walk Winery for years to sample their wines and enjoy the friendly conversation with other customers and their staff. I have sampled numerous wineries in Wisconsin and this is by far the best winery with a bevy of serious wines to sample. the wines range from sweet to dry with the grapes sourced from numerous locations outside of Wisconsin. My personal tastes trend towards dryer Reds where you can find quite a few very good Cabs, Pinots, Sangiovese and Bordeaux blends that are light years ahead of the typical sweet wines you find in the Wisconsin Winery scene. Additionally its location in Downtown Greenbay allows you many options for combining this experience with other options that you will not find in a more rural setting like Door County. Although some may find the tasting cost high versus other wineries in the area ($5 for regular tasting and $9 for premium tasting) the old saying you get what you pay for definitely applies here. Aside from the wines there is an assortment of wine related merchandise for sale that adds to the wine tasting experience. In summary if you are into wine and appreciate quality when you taste it than this winery is a must visit and a must sample if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. We stopped into Captain's Walk Winery before heading over to a wedding in town. We wanted to try the wine tasting, and were pleased at 11:30 to be only the second couple in the place. This led to quick and attentive service, which I could see starting to fall behind as the place fills up. There is a brochure that lightly describes each wine, and you can pick between either a $3 offering for their standards, or the $5 offering to include their "premium" wines. They also were offering five ciders, which were not listed on the menu. My friend and I both work at a wine bar and were eager to learn more about the wines, but disappointed when they fell flat for us. We were able to try about 8 wines and all 5 ciders, but only a couple really stood out. Many were either too sweet, too young, or... too sweet. So many of these were too sweet - even not listed anywhere near the sweet section. We did enjoy the rose as it was nothing like anything we've ever tasted before. We also agreed the chaider would be an amazing fall sipper, hot or cold. After our tasting we retreated to the "dining room" where we ordered the Mediterranean pizza (tons of olives, red onion and sundried tomato), it was undercooked to the point of chilled in the middle, but we were running short on time and just ate it anyway. They have a small gift shop that is extremely overpriced, as most gift shops are. The saving grace is the great staff - Nora helped us and was great to hang out with, we really enjoyed our time there. Definitely recommend it for a fun stop in the city, but I don't know that I'd be as interested in the wine unfortunately. read more

Stopped in on a Thursday evening and had a great experience. There was a bachelorette party and a few other customers but they had enough staff to accommodate us all and carry on conversation. Even though we stopped in from out of town, we felt very welcomed. The tasting includes 7 wines or ciders for $3, or you can include aged and specialties wines into the mix for $5. They also put out crackers to clear the palate, which I needed for two of the drier wines. We're used to NY wines, so I felt like the dry and red wines here had a stronger taste than I'm used to. Not bad, just unexpected and likely soil related as well. We left with 4 bottles of wine, 3 plus a free bottle of Seven Seas, which was a special they had going on. If you like the Packers, they have a carbonated wine - "Titletown", which has Lombardi trophy on it and a pleasant taste as well. Not too far from restaurants and the Neville Museum either. read more

My family and I visited Captain's Walk yesterday as part of a winery trail and I was so pleased with their tasting! The staff there is knowledgeable and friendly and even provided history of the building which I found very interesting. They provide an abundance of samples to try and I really enjoyed the maple brown hard cider and look forward to when they can bottle them not in growlers as I live on the West Coast. I went to Captain's Walk on 3/22 to meet up with friends. The winery was releasing a new wine and had wine tastings for $3. For $3, I sampled seven different wines. They also had complimentary snacks and a wonderful salmon salad. I actually joined their wine club. I will be picking up four bottles of wine at their quarterly pick-up parties, again with free snacks and meal samples of recipes the wines can be used in. I can't wait to pick up my first order in May. Great location in downtown Green Bay. read more

While the tasting room is currently closed due to Covid19, I got a growler of apple cherry hard cider that was aged in a brand barrel. It was delicious and I'd recommend it. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered over the phone and they met me in the parking lot behind the winery with a growler in hand. I gave them my empty one and we just exchanged. We stopped by on a whim on our trip to the UP. Arrived just as the doors opened. I was welcomed like a long-awaited friend! Was told about the history of the building, and about the bistro and various parts of Captain's Walk. By this time, everything was set up at the bar for my tasting! I wish I had gotten the gentleman's name who helped us, but he was absolutely charming! Since my husband doesn't care for wine, he tried the various hard ciders. I absolutely cannot recommend this place highly enough. It was the highlight of my vacation. I may well have to make another trip to Green Bay just to visit again! read more

For the Green Bay/Fox Valley area I highly recommend visiting Captains Walk Winery. I had gone a few years back and the wine selection was smaller and sweeter, similar to other area wineries. Their selection has clearly widened and developed. I was incredibly impressed with their dry wines. The person behind the bar was a little preoccupied at times but polite and very knowledgeable. I definitely recommend visiting. Red Oak farther north is also a great NE Wisconsin Winery, as well as Blind Horse a bit south. Those three are pretty comparable. read more

I hate to be a downer here, but I can't say I had a great time at Captains Walk. It started when our friends were told that their Groupon wasn't good on Saturday nights -- which, to be fair, it did say in the fine print -- and went downhill from there. The tastings seem insanely cheap, at just $3 for 7 (seven!) or $5 to include their premium selections. However, though they give you a little brochure with descriptions of the wines so you can choose what you want to taste, they don't have the ciders listed, and since several people were helping us off and on (though they were not at all busy), there was a lot of confusion as to where we were in the progression and whether we could go out of the order in the brochure (they prefer you don't). Of the 7 wines that I tasted, I only found one or two that I really cared for. We got a cheese and sausage plate as well, and though we got the standard instead of the "artisan" or whatever, it was a pretty blah, supermarket-ish resembling tray. Good for something to soak up the wine, but not anything particularly special. For me, this is a one-time visit kind of place. If you're really into wine you might get more out of it, but I won't be back or be looking to purchase any of their wines in the future. read more

Went here with some friends from out of town for a wine tasting, tour and mid-afternoon snacks. Loved everything about this place. I can honestly say I loved all the wines I tasted and the wonderful women helping us was funny/knowledgeable about the wines. We went on a tour with Ben and he was an outstanding tour guide. The building the winery is in has a really cool history. We ended our trip here sharing the antipasti tray with cherry hard cider for everyone. This is one of the only Wisconsin wineries that does some of the drier styles well. Try the Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese and Merlot--all very tasty. The Cab is pretty good too. (They also offer sweeter varieties, for those who are so inclined). Staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable... especially PJ and Courtney. Price was $3 to taste 7 different wines. Really a steal! And I appreciated the high quality Reidel glassware they use for their tastings. I really wish they distributed their wines in the milwaukee area! Stumbled upon this winery last week at the Tall Ship Festival, so the wife and I wanted to grab a bag of sangria mix. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they offered a 7 sample wine tasting for $3. Needless to say we jumped to the opportunity and tried all but one of their wines they had to offer (14 of the 15 total). We fancied their sweeter wines like their Riesling the most.
