I'm from New England and I was expecting more than that. The parking was far away from the pier and it was something like $6.00 per hour. We ended up moving on to another beach that seemed to be better. In the future, If I venture out to Sanibel while staying in Ft. Myers I will pass on this beach. The shells were much more plentiful at other beaches on the island and there are nicer spots in Lover's Cove.

What a charming place!…read more We were traveling from Naples to Orlando, but wanted to visit "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel, so I called a few days before we got there to make a resesrvation at Tarpon Tale Inn. We had a brief misunderstanding about the length of our stay (just one night, but next time much longer), immediately resolved by Joe. A day or so before our visit, we got a detailed text describing the check-in process. The day of our visit, we got another text when the room was ready (about an hour before regular check-in). We were on a NWR drive-through at the time, and made it to Tarpon Tale within a half hour or so. When we got there, Joe met us, helped with our luggage, and then gave us a tour of the facility, directions to the beach, pulled out a beach chair for us, and introduced us to the happy little Tokay Gecko on the fence. He pointed out the ice cream parlor and restaurant across the street, and the coffee and bagel place next door. We got a room with a very nice queen bed, a small but well-provisioned kitchen, and a modern bathroom. We elected to have dinner at Gramma Dot's (at the marina nearby) and ice cream across the street. We slept very well in the quiet of a Sanibel evening, and checked out the next morning for another loop through the National Wildlife Refuge and to continue on our way to Orlando.

I also ate at the Blue Dog which had great seafood. There were a couple other restaurants I will try on my next visit. The town had many places to fish such as the bridges and a couple parks. Fishing there was great. People were catching reds, snook, and snapper. The resort had kayaks, furnished grills, had a campfire pit, swimming pool and a homemade sand beach. It had docks to fish from or for people bringing their own boat. The management can set you up with dolphin tours or charter fishing. It is near Ft. Myers Beach, Bonita Beach, and Sanibel/Captiva Islands and not far from Punta Gorda Airport (my choice) or Ft Myers International Airport. My stay was only 3 days, but I will return and stay much longer next time.

Everything looks modern and updated probably because it had to be redone after the hurricane. I loved the firm mattress, the large fridge and enormous flat screen roku tv. I liked they provided popcorn which I popped in the microwave. The shower got super hot very quick so no lack of hot water. Shampoo conditioner and body wash is provided as well as a sample of body lotion. There is a coffee maker which I personally didn't use. Really liked the little gazebo to sit out. Parking was available right outside my door which was convenient. It's still slow season so it was quiet. I did not use the amenities so cannot review on that. The little minor things were: I could hear the upstairs when they'd drop stuff. You can also hear every single word of the unit next door so I went to bed and got up with those people based on noise. The bathroom would sometimes make loud bubble noises probably related to plumbing issues. The place was not fully clean, it looked like there was construction type dirt in the bathroom. Also there were some ants but it's Florida so might be normal. And the outdoor light didn't work so it was very dark walking my dog. The AC is a wall unit and very loud, the lowest allowed is 70 degrees - I wish it was less because I was hot. Great place but there's some improvements possible here and there. I'd stay here again if needed! $125 for the night was a decent price especially for the location and amenities they offer. I'm sure it's more during season, I stayed end of September on a weekday.

Another big watch out - rooms on the north side of the building from about the 6th floor down have large palm trees obscure the view of the gulf!!! They rental chairs and umbrellas are convenient but are taken up very early around 2:30 pm - disappointing given the cost Our kitchen was flooded the 1st night by the upstairs apartment's ice maker waterline. It's just an unfortunate event but did waste a good part of our first day towel drying the floor and carpet. The front desk offered to dry vac it but we opted against it since we'd already got most of it blotted up. The front desk does a towel exchange for the pool towels which eliminates the nuisance of drying towels from the pool. We really enjoyed the grills and lovely landscaping. I would gladly stay again for the quality of everything.

We stayed in Captiva, and then West Middle and East gulf rentals. We discovered we are East gulf people, and love this low-key middle sized resort! Two story 8 unit buildings are sprinkled around the beautiful landscaping, giving it a real European village vibe. I could swim laps for an hour in the heated pool, even on a unusually cold rainy day . My husband and I bike the back bike trails to the Lighthouse point and Wickies and Gramma Dots restaurants and shopping. An easy walk to Dante's restaurant and a little island tiki bar nearby, it has provided the best of every world for us. Love hearing the waves and fresh breeze in the morning from my bedroom balcony, and I also enjoy a living room balcony, the units are all individual, something for everyone, and it's located south of the Causeway so you never get caught in periwinkle traffic leaving the island for more adventures.
