Our family parasailed and rented waverunners. We all had a great time. The staff in the office were very friendly and helpful. First, three of us parasailed. The staff on the boat were very professional and we felt very safe. The captain, Rob, did a great job. He was more serious of the staff, which made me feel very safe since he was driving the boat. Jordan, was amazing. He had a great personality and worked very hard. He chatted with the participants but when it was time to work he was very efficient and quick. Jordan also took the pictures, they turned out great. Next, all four of us rented waverunners for an hour. We had a blast! The staff at the waverunners were very friendly and gave good directions. Siblings and I went out for a 30-minute jet-ski ride here. The little shack is tucked away from the main road. A very laidback staff helped us inside, Jared helped us on the beach. Biggest issue here is the cost for the value of the experience, around 210 dollars for two jet skis for a thirty-minute excursion! This is an amended review to a scathing review I wrote three days ago. After reflecting back, I was probably too harsh with my initial review. I was livid at the time after just learning my credit card was charged w/out my authorization. All in all, my overall experience was 3 1/2 stars. My two kids would have probably given the experience 4 1/2 stars. We actually did 5 days overall with CWP (3 jet ski days, 2 boat days). Our three jet ski days were great. The ski were all like new and in very good condition. The fees were a bit high ($120/hr, $80/1/2 hr) but the value was still good. The customer service we experienced w/ Tyler was also exceptional. The one bad part of the experience we had was being overcharged for gas on the boat rentals. First off, they charged me almost triple for gas on a half day boat rental. What should have been a $30 charge instead turned out to be a charge of over $80. The renters right before me had the exact same boat and 4 hour rental and paid $30 for their gas. We actually stopped twice and the people before us rode the entire time and their gas charge was $50 less. It made no sense and the guy in the office claimed we used 23 gallons of gas. There is absolutely zero chance we used even close to 23 gallons. My gut tells me that our boat was never re-filled before we pulled out. My only advice would be to get ALL of your costs nailed down and in writing ahead of time. I learned a very valuable lesson ($80 lesson) the hard way and I will make sure I learn from it. All in all, these are nice people and as a business, they do provide a good service. If it wasn't for the gas overcharges, I would have definitely given them a 5 star rating. read more

I am your basic grandfather wanting our grandkids, two sons and best daughter in law in the world to have some fun on the water. The team at Captiva Watersports made their week! 6 people, 3 wave runners and a great team here that came across as hip and friendly. On the water the team led the way and provided a lot of fun, speed and the weather helped--80 and Sunny! Dolphin and manatee were out in abundance, enough speed to thrill 16 year old and 18 year jock guys. Parents and uncle were equally pleased, so good times were had by all. So we've rented boats from Captiva Water Sports before, we've always had a good experience with them. On this trip we took the boat to Cayo Casta and Cabbage Key. While we were in Cabbage Key Kayla from CWS called me and told us to head back with great speed as a storm was building quickly. We headed back immediately experiencing turbulent water in the inter-coastal. Kayla kept checking in on the radio to make sure we were safely heading toward the marina. We beat the storm but just barely. The crew at CWS was great; Kayla, Gerad and Charles were great. I would highly recommend CWS if you want to rent a boat on Captiva. read more

First time a friend and I have ever been parasailing so yeah we were a little nervous. For us this experience couldn't have gone any better this company is great! From checking in to when you leave these guys have it it figured out - super professional and friendly. Their office, the boats and the equipment - everything was clean, new and well kept. The owner Rob and mate Tyler were really nice and made the trip a great time! They explained everything as we went out and then it was just a really fun couple hours. This was my first time renting a boat. What a nervous experience it was. I had the absolute pleasure of having John helping me understand my boat and the very important information that comes with. He carried all my stuff, coolers, beach chairs, bags, without even saying anything. So professional I feel. He Even helped me via radio navigate through the water the way I should. The boat was wonderful experience as well. The engine ran great and music was the cherry on top. I was able to fully enjoy my day renting my boat. When I returned to the dock he already had someone waiting to help me dock the boat. Once again they were awesome and carried all my belongings to my Truck. Highly recommend this company for parasailing. Very friendly and professional crew, clearly safety is their number one priority. Once airborne the view from the parasail is breathtaking. The bay and surrounding islands were beautiful, and we saw manatees, sharks, turtles and countless fish. Seeing a flock of pelicans fly underneath you is pretty special. read more

Reserved online to rent skis. Drove about half an hour and they closed up shop before the day even started. We asked the people in tween waters marina and they told us they've had people come in and complain saying they had times reserved to rent skis and they drove all the way out here for it to be closed. These people paid and couldn't contact anyone to get money back. Seemed like the scammed people all day. They didn't refund anyone or close the website or adjust any times. so we paid almost 200 to rent skis when they had the shopped closed all day. had online registrations were still open and confirmable on the website. My husband and I rented a boat for our most recent trip to Captiva. The process was quick and easy and John was thorough with his explanation of everything. They gave us a nice wooden plate map to use to get us through the keys and channels. The only bummer was we were not allowed to go into the gulf. First time parasailing and the experience was perfect. The captain and mate made this a lot more fun that it would have been otherwise. The boat and gear was very new and clean. Outside of the amazing service and hospitality the view was to die for. My wife was not 100 percent comfortable with water, heights, and fun in general and even she had a blast with the experience and crew. Although there were a couple of negative reviews for Beach Bums rentals, we took a chance as they had the best location and boat size for our needs. The rentals rates are all similar between the few marinas in the Sanibel/Captiva area, so price shopping will be a waste of your time. We found Beach Bums facility very easily because of good signage on the main road as we entered Captiva. Our experience with check-in was smooth and quick, less then 5 minutes to go over and sign paperwork. John, the attendant was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. We were the only renters checking in at that moment, so I guess it could get lengthy if there were several customers all waiting to check in. There are many instructions to absorb, both with the equipment and the navigational directions. John explained the Intracoastal waterway expertly and put me at ease immediately... as the waterways are very challenging with sandbars everywhere, but the printed map boards provided with channel markings and hazards made our entire day rental as smooth as the calm turquoise waters we traversed. John also recommended the best beaches, waterfront restaurants, shelling areas, etc. and gave us all the average travel times between each so we could plan our trip safely and stay on a schedule. He also allowed us a free extra 1/2 hour if we needed it. The 19 ft. center console with 115hp was in perfect condition and operated like new. They also included an onboard under seat cooler filled with ice. Although it takes about a 1/2 hr. between paperwork check-in, navigational instruction and proper boat operation, it was well worth it and allowed us to totally enjoy an awesome boating day. My wife and I are experienced boaters, and even so, we felt the care that was taken to inform of us of all the most important procedures and destination recommendations really made the difference between a pleasurable vs. a potential tragic day. John also recommended we visit Cabbage Key, it is said to be where Jimmy Buffet wrote the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" so we enjoyed a stop to of course enjoy our own cheeseburger... definitely fun. All in all, as experienced boaters, and even if not- Beach Bums Rentals was the best company we could have chosen... they even offered us a generous discount if we wanted to rent jet skis the next day. Great boat/equipment, instructions/recommendations, safety and navigation made for an absolute great day on the water... best day of our vacation! Perfect experience with Beach Bums... highly recommend! FYI: since renting in Captiva, after you return to dock, plan to visit the famous Bubble Room right down the street, then take in the sunset at Turner Beach, best place for sunsets on the island! A friend and I had an amazing parasailing experience here! Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly and personable. We made a reservation, but after getting out on the boat it was determined that it was too windy to safely parasail that day. The driver was very apologetic, even though there was nothing he could do about it. We rented a 19 foot boat for half of the day. We spoke to three different guys in there office regarding pricing, policies, going over the map and details about the boat. We had a nice time until we got back and found out we were responsible for the cost of refueling the boat. We were told by a women who we never saw the three times we were there previously in the office that it's a policy that is posted in numerous places. However with all the explaining that they went over with us refueling the boat never came out any of there mouths. They made no attempt to rectify the situation. Bad customer service and sadly left a bad memory of the day. read more

We had a great trip. We were in town during a red tide on Sanibel and I can say that the water by Captiva was perfectly fine for boarding the boat and doing the ride. In fact, this was a good alternative to spending the day at a red tide beach. The guys were professional and the equipment was in excellent condition and well cared for. I took my 6-year-old daughter... that's how safe and fun it was. Bring your GoPro! And if you don't have one, no worries. They have them and charge you for the memory card. Totally worth it for the views and the reactions of everyone traveling. read more

Wanted to rent a boat so we could explore the area at our own pace. Their 19' Center console was perfect. A few years old and frequently used, this model is a great running boat. Plenty of storage & the cooler was even filled with ice. The staff took time to thoroughly orient us with the local waters & tips on places to go. We especially liked the chart mounted onto wood so it doesn't blow away, Very well marked for those not familiar with using a nautical chart & markers. Super friendly & efficient, only negative is we wished we had a depth finder as there are many areas of shallow water. Saw at least 15 pods of dolphins on our 2 hour trip. Lots of fun. read more
