Back in the early 1970's when I was working for Inmont as a Chemist, there was an all you can eat buffet called Ketner's Buffeteria on South Blvd just past Tyvola Road that my coworkers and I would go to. The guy who owned it, if I am not mistaken was the brother of Ralph Ketner, one of the founders of Food Lion. At least once a week, Frog Legs were on the menu, and we would make a bee line over there just to get the Frog Legs. As I recall they were huge, moist and very tender. After a couple of years, they closed, and I've only had Frog Legs a couple of times since then. Trying to find a restaurant I had not been to yet and I found Capt'n Pete's Seafood in Lincolnton. Looking at the online menu and there is was "Fried Frog Legs" so guess what was for lunch today. Drove over and got there around 11:30 am shortly after they opened at 11am. I think we were only the second couple seated when we arrived. It's a very clean and well apportioned restaurant with a nautical theme. Very light and airy. Service is excellent Our server took our drink ordered and gave us our menu's. I was immediately disappointed because the menu that she gave us did not look at all what was online, and Frog Legs were not on the menu. Mention to our server that I was disappointed because they did not have Frog Legs. She immediately volunteered that yes, the did have them so I ordered them along with Fried Okra, complimentary Hush Puppies and Sour Cole Slaw. My wife ordered the large order of Crab Cakes (3) along with Okra as well and the complimentary Hush Puppies. Everything came out promptly and was nice and hot and fresh. The Frog Legs were smaller than what I used to get at Ketner's but very tasty anyway and the fact that there were so many, made up for the smaller size. Susan enjoyed her Crab Cakes as well along with the Fried Okra. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience and I at least, will definitely be back (Susan is not a Seafood Fan). Local fish camp with all the normal fish options. Flounder, deviled crap, and popcorn shrimp with fried and broiled options. Hush Puppies are plentiful and the tarter sauce is good. Staff is always very friendly and on top of making sure you get everything you need. Everything is very clean and bright and menu has large font that is really easy to see. The plates have plenty of food and come with a side and sweet or sour slaw. We got popcorn shrimp they were perfectly crispy and not greasy which is how you know its a good fish camp. They give you gigantic to go portions and they are very very reasonably priced. They have some amazing chicken tenders but you gotta get that RANCH it's top tier. The seafood looks great too. Tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a good friend of ours and my chiropractor and I'm glad we did. I was a little gun shy to try another seafood restaurant here in Lincolnton after trying Cotton's Seafood which ended up being one of the nastiest seafood meals we have ever eaten, so I'm glad now that didn't stop up from giving Captain Pete's a try. Walked in and was greeted and immediately seated. Our sever Geneva took our drink orders and brought a basket of hushpuppies to the table, which were very good. We ordered and split Captain Pete's Platter which was a huge plate of seafood with two flounder fillets, a large pile of calabash shrimp, four jumbo shrimp, four oysters, two scallops, a crab cake and a deviled crab. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The batter was light and crispy with no grease at all. We got a baked sweet potato and sour slaw for our sides. We also liked the tarter and cocktail sauces as well. The platter had so much food on it we ate our fill and still took enough home for another meal, so no one can complain about portion sizes here. Geneva was friendly and checked on us frequently and our tea glasses were always kept full. We will be asking to sit in her section the next time we visit. With drinks, tax and tip we got out for $33, not bad since we were able to make two meals from Captain Pete's Platter. We had been driving all the way to Connelly Springs to Tex's Fish Camp for our seafood fix, but that's about a 50 minute drive one way for us, but with the food and service we received at Captain Pete's, we now have a much closer option for a really good seafood meal. I used to love going to Capt'n Pete's when it was in Denver on Highway 150 before being burned to the ground :( I was glad to see them take over the old Japan building in Lincolnton, but visited early on and had a "not great" experience. It was a case of one and done, I never went back. Yesterday the Lincoln County Board of REALTORS held our Board of Directors meeting there, so I had another opportunity to try them and to my surprise it was really great! The restaurant itself is very spacious, The interior was clean and decorations, though sparse, were pleasing. We were given a large table toward the back of the restaurant so that we didn't bother other diners and weren't bothered. The service was top notch. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She gave us drinks but then left us be to conduct our meeting, checking on us throughout. She took great care of us, even when the meeting ran into busy lunch rush time. I ordered the broiled flounder with a potato and garden salad. The fish was so flavorful and good! I loved it. The baked potato was good and creamy and piping hot. My favorite side was the salad, they make their own dressings! The Thousand Island was tangy and so yummy. I was just really impressed with all aspects of our lunch yesterday. We eat at Captain Pete's every Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. We are recognized there and the food is great. It's sad to say but I have a problem with one young server there. She always caters to my husband and calls him "Mr. Lee" but never honors my presence personally. Today she was our server and I couldn't hardly order because I am always so offended. Teddy and Geneva are awesome and I feel very accepted by them but the owners and the other servers really don't see me it seems. read more

This restaurant is a bit old and run down but their food is really good! Their hush puppies are just as good as the old Captain's Galley in Mooresville and the fish is also just as good. The portion sizes are plentiful and we always have enough left for lunch the next day. We started with the fried mushrooms which were very good. Then we had the fried flounder and fried clams and it was excellent. There's always a wait here on the weekend but it's worth it. I have been going to Captain Pete's regularly since they have been opened. Every time I have been there, my food has been great. That is until Wednesday night. I ordered broiled baby flounder, which I have had several times, and it has always been great. But this time it was cold and slimy. I believe it had been cooked earlier and not served for some reason, and then I got it. The waitress was very gracious and took the entire order off my bill, even though I ate the squash and slaw. I do not know what happened, but that experience totally turned me off to them. I probably won't go back. I know everyone is entitled to a mistake, but when I think of going back there, I feel nauseated. : ( read more
