    side salad with ranch dressing

this is definitely a hidden gem in lincolnton. my boyfriend and I decided to go to try it out, and i definitely don't regret it. The entrance is on the right side of the building, and it is a little small, but the inside of the building has older signs which is so cute. I would describe it as being similar to BBQ king right down the road. the hamburger steak with onions is SO good i would definitely recommend, as well as the fried pickles and okra. The server was nice, but she didn't really ask what we wanted to eat she just stared at us, but i think i was just nervous lol. I am coming back here again!!

Great food and service is quick. Home cooked meals like grandma made when you was a little chap.

Chuckwagon is one of Lincolnton's locally owned burger places, which doesn't adequately describe it, really. It has so much more! One of my favorite things about the restaurant is how they home cook a few specials each day. One of today's specials was Hamburger Steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and pinto beans. It always comes with a dessert of some kind, too. They also offer those pinto beans in a bowl with cornbread. The last special was the one I chose: Vegetable Beef soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. At one time or another I've practically had everything on the menu. I love their flounder sandwiches and their hot dogs. Sometimes they'll have chicken casserole as their special of the day and I'll be in heaven! The ranch dressing is also some of my favorite around. They actually have a great salads. Another great feature about this restaurant is the drive up service. You can call ahead and they'll bring it out to your car, or check the menu board that have been there for 20 years and order when you get there. Like a sonic, only better offerings! If you do go inside to eat, they have a very small dining area. It gets really busy at lunch, but there is an outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. 4 stars. This place is a good solid place that has been in business for as long as I've lived here. It's not fancy, but it is good at what it does. Give it a try! It's an institution!

Food was great. Slaw was probably my favorite around. I would suggest subbing the regular fries with the sour cream fries they are sooo much better. I only give 4 starts because it took so long to get the food. Next time I will definitely be calling ahead.

Great burger nothing fancy super juicy and fresh.

It has that warm, lively feel that makes you want to hang out and enjoy your time instead of rushing through the meal. We did a wine flight to start, which was a fun way to try a few different pours, and everything paired really well with dinner. The highlight for me was the whole roasted fish. Crispy on the outside, super tender inside, and really clean, fresh flavor. Simple but done really well. Service was on point too -- friendly, attentive, and helpful without hovering. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and one I'd recommend if you're in Charlotte and want a solid dinner with great drinks and atmosphere.

They even still have the 120 year old pews! If you ask your server, you are likely to hear the entire story of the place. It's pretty amazing. They recently received a Michelin recommendation and it's totally deserved. It's a buffet, but most of the hot food is actually served by a person which is something that I particularly appreciate. (I really don't like touching the handles of spoons that hundreds of people have touched.) Some of the stuff is self serve but not any of the hot dishes. Absolutely everything I tried was outstanding. Like everything. There are a few things that they consider "pass around" which means that they are brought over to you by a server at random intervals. For everything else, you just help yourself. I went with a friend of mine who has a deep appreciation for a southern food. He was absolutely amazed. Honestly, I can't think of a better place to have chosen to eat in a short time I had in Charlotte. I've attached a picture of the menu. I tried just about everything. I wasn't disappointed in a single thing, and I was completely wowed by many of them. The servers were wonderful. Very friendly and very willing to talk to us about the history and the food items that were there. Highest recommendation!

It was a bit chilly so we sat inside even though the outside patio was heated. It was a good choice because it was a little breezy. We shared the okra as an appetizer, it was as good as I remembered! They had a special which we both decided was good, surf & turf with NY strip and lobster tail. I also brought a bottle of Freixnet Cordon Negra which was so good! We were a bit disappointed that the steak we ordered as medium rare, came out rare on both our entrees. Overall it was a memorable evening and just what I had hoped for a special occasion!

Waitress just didn't follow up. My water sat unrefilled for a long time. Fried okra didn't taste like okra - but that suited a few of the party. But a few of us expected okra flavor only to be disappointed. Temp on the fried green tomatoes should have been warmer but overall it was very tasty. Our appetizer empty plates sat for a while - we even stacked them so it was clear they should be cleared. Ordered the salmon, which was good, but so did my mom. We ordered different temps and they couldn't tell which was which. Wife ordered a salad and for the price, there was barely anything there. Mac and cheese is still the star. Oysters were decent - I expected larger. The half chicken was a generous portion - nice crispy outside but a bit dry inside. I wouldn't order it (I almost did, but my one of our party did). One of our party ordered a stuffed leeks and it was so salty it was inedible. They did fix it and admitted it should have never left the kitchen. By the time the replacement came out it was after 6:05 (and they had to leave at 6:15). So they didn't get to eat their celebratory meal with the rest of us. Not the memory you want for a meal. Desserts were good. Tort was dense - honestly not sure if that's normal. Crème brûlée was very good. For a $400+ experience and our history with Pump House, I expected more.
