Just posting a few photos....Homemade slaws and sauces with hand dipped hushpuppies....Take out only...Cash only

    Salt and pepper flounder.

Wow, not sure what happened, but the ball was definitely dropped. I had 2 orders of salt and pepper fish, and they were different color from what appeared to be salt and pepper added to already cooked fish and the other undercooked.my plate was slimy, fries were definitely old. $60 for the food and there isn't any consistency on the cooking. They have great tater sauce and honey mustard sauce though. Fed my dogs well.

Baked potato was done to a turn. Butter and sour cream was on table in abundance and convenience! Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Beautiful light golden brown! Best I have had in years. I ordered a small and got 9 butterflied shrimp! Everything appears clean and cared for with the exception of the entrance doors which need replacement and are well weathered. One other observation. The sign next to the entrance is not designed well. It is hard to see and is camouflaged into the background vegetation. A more modern sign with some "pop" may draw attention to this restaurant and German architecture!

Service was prompt and was consistent throughout the meal. Drinks were delivered quickly with hush puppies, which were excellent! Didn't have to wait long for main meal. My wife had flounder and sweet potato, which she liked very much and they had brown sugar for her sweet potato! She really appreciated that because most places do not have brown sugar. My meal was excellent! I had fantail shrimp, although they were actually butterflied shrimp, and they were prepared great. Soft, tender and cooked to a perfect gold color. Best I have had in a long time. Baked potato was cooked well and I like that the butter and sour cream is in a basket on the table so you don't have to beg waiter for more! I'll be back!

Family owned since 1960, and you can feel that in every part of the experience. The parking lot was packed when we got there, which is always a good sign. We grabbed a booth and the sweet tea came out right away with a pitcher so you can refill it yourself, which is a small thing but I appreciate it. Ordered the flounder and shrimp and it came piled on a paper platter with fries, slaw, and the hush puppies. And those hush puppies are seriously worth talking about. Big, hot, crispy outside, soft inside. The portions overall are ridiculous in the best way. The seafood platter is a good call if you can't decide, flounder, perch, catfish, deviled crab, shrimp and oysters all on one plate. The slaw is creamy and fresh, not the watery kind. They also had homemade cake slices up front and we grabbed a piece on the way out. There's a warmth and a character to this place that you just can't fake. Glad it's still here.

There is little time to consider the choices when busy, and locals who know what they want proceed quickly, first timers may end up rushing their order and choose poorly. Payment is taken at a separate counter, and tips are solicited before you have received your food. Avoid choosing a table near the exit as it can be drafty and has lots of foot traffic. Drink cups are provided for self serv beverages. Food is delivered hot and fresh from the kitchen. There is a large variety of primarily fried seafood choices, with mostly fries and slaw for sides; baked potatoes don't seem to be offered. Entrees are offered in small and large sizes, and portions are large, with mounds of fish, fries and hush puppies on each plate. The dining area can be crowded and noisy, especially when returning for refills to the busy drink dispensers. If you need a to-go box, you will find them there. Overall, this bustling restaurant offers large portions in return for minimum service. Entrees are in the $15 -$20 range despite the do-it-yourself nature of the dining room. If you want table service this is not your place!

We had mussels, heirloom tomato toast and the 2 off-menu fish items (wahoo collars and seared amberjack). All dishes were excellent. I highly recommend trying the tomato toast appetizer, best version of a bruschetta I have ever had. The service and staff are exceptional. Kent, Joe, Winter and John add an element of fun and local family feel to the experience that is unmatched. We will be back again to enjoy more of this amazing place.

Seaboy absolutely delivered. From the outside, the building is understated and looks more like it belongs near the beach at Oak Island. Once you step inside, however, it is clean, classy, well-appointed, and charmingly coastal without being overly themed or tacky. It feels like the premium restaurant it is. We didn't make reservations because we arrived at 4:30 on a Friday and never expected the place to be completely slammed that early. Jackie, the hostess, took our name and phone number and promised to call as soon as something opened at the bar. Since there wasn't much room to wait inside, she encouraged us to relax in our car. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, she called and made sure we got the first two available seats. Samantha, the bartender, was both an excellent server and a talented mixologist. She was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, somehow keeping up with all the drinks for the dining room without allowing anyone at the bar to feel ignored. I told her I wasn't much of a drinker but gave her the name of a liquor I enjoy. She created her own cocktail for me, and it was a solid 10 out of 10. Could I walk in and order that exact drink again? Probably not. Would I trust her to surprise me again in a heartbeat? Absolutely. My wife started with a shrimp appetizer that she said may have been the best shrimp she has ever eaten. I had the Caesar salad, which was the only part of the meal that was merely okay. It was beautifully presented, generously portioned, properly dressed, and topped with excellent cheese. Unfortunately, the dressing lacked the bold, savory punch I expect from a great Caesar. Our entrées, however, were phenomenal. I ordered the swordfish, and it was so good that my wife essentially took it over because she liked it even more than the seafood pasta special she had ordered. Fortunately, her rich, cheesy seafood creation was outstanding, so I was perfectly happy with the trade. I polished off her meal, then finished whatever swordfish she left behind! We ended with the deconstructed Key lime pie. It was flavorful and enjoyable, although, like the Caesar, I felt it could have used just a little more refinement. At one point, the chef and owner came out to the bar, shook our hands, introduced himself, and thanked us for coming. He stayed for a little friendly conversation, which was a genuinely nice and personal touch. Those minor critiques aside, the service, food quality, atmosphere, and hospitality were all excellent. Seaboy has immediately become one of our favorite choices for a premium meal, and the overall experience was absolutely five out of five. We will definitely be back soon. To those about to nosh, we salute you!
