Service is good but the food is nothing like it has been. Prior to retiring and moving out of the area 12 years ago we ate there frequently 2 or 3 times a month. The whole flounder was the best. Big-time surprise find. We were unhappily on our way to a chain restaurant in Hickory because nothing is open on Sunday night, when we saw light in at Harbor Inn. We decided to check it out, hoping to watch some of the Super Bowl. It was great. Two of us had salads with seafood, and the salmon was fantastic. Free hush puppies with your meal. My draft beer was $2. And the patrons were so nice they insisted we sit at the bar with them and watch the game. Definitely would make this a stopping point when I'm in the area. read more

Have eaten here many many times over the last few years and always pleased with food, service, and friendly waitresses. I was really disappointed with this visit. Arrived around 7:30 on Tuesday evening. Was greeted and order taken promptly. We waited close to 30 minutes for our food. Very few customers was there and everyone I seen already had their food, waitresses was already taking up condiments, vacuuming, cleaning, like getting ready to close. Had to get up and find waitress to ask her about our food. She said they were trying to " shut down" in the kitchen? At 7:45, when the restaurant closed at 9? My food was good but my Mom got Haddock and one of the pieces was fried so hard couldn't eat it. Asked waitress for another piece at which point she sighed and paused, took another 15 minutes to get that piece. It's like everyone was in such a hurry that we,.and another couple was completely ignored, having to get up to ask about our food and bill and also to get our own take out box. Realizing they were probably tired and ready to go home I also had worked a full day, and then running errands with my Mom deserved to be treated with more consideration than we received. I ordered a fried combination platter is clam strips and patties with onion rings. I received more hush puppies, three onion ring , one crab patty and lots of clam strips with a serving of coke slaw. It was our first time there to dine, we always tried to go but it always seemed to be so busy. We'll this evening we decided to try them. Best decision ever. I had the steamed shrimp and a sweet potato with salad and hush puppies, oh my it was the best. My roommate had steak and shrimp, and of course we tried each others food, it was all top notch. This is our go to for seafood in Hickory. You have choices that you can get broiled or fried I have had both and both are good. I usually get the Salmon or white fish. My complaint during the Covid 19 is the lack of the use of masks even in the drive through pickup. I actually thought of giving only one star because of this as the largest population is the high risk age group and you are definitely closer than 6 feet from take out person in the drive through window...the last one had one hanging from her ear. I came here years ago and the food was pure grease. I stayed away for years. I came back for dinner finally and was glad I did. I got the Thur special skinless fried flounder and shrimp. There was a whole bag of shrimp on there. Everything was cooked perfectly. I'm very glad because I love seafood. And missed it all those years. I'll definitely be back.
